My get-up-and-go has gone ?

Wanted:
Missing, get-up-and-go
If anybody has it can they please send me some?
Is it the dull, damp morning? Too much food over Christmas?
“End of a cr*p year” syndrome?
Whatever, I am finding it hard to stay vertical, can feel no motivation whatsoever for the (few) tasks I had hoped to achieve before the end of the year, and just want to curl up and hibernate.

I know!!!

He means himself

I'd say that too but my 'old man' might object!

Maybe we should take a leaf out of Mr Eastwood’s book

I read the first part of that Grannyparkrun where the guy was last in his school race and it reminded me that at age 5 I was ahead in a running race, thought I was doing something wrong and stopped for the others to catch up. No hope for me with that attitude!!

MayBeMaw your dog is gorgeous. Greyhounds/whippets are such a lazy breed aren’t they?

AuntieEleanorsCat Sun 02-Jan-22 09:10:06

@AGAA4 Thank you ?

The sun came out yesterday - and there was a glimmer of enthusiasm for gardening!

By the time I'd had a cup of tea (always first on my list) and got changed, though, the moment had gone and the clouds were back.

I forced myself to sweep up, just outside the back door, then retreated back to the sofa.

Beautiful photo’s of beloved cats and dogs on here. Thank you for sharing. They know how to relax and I often think we can follow their example.
I’d love to hibernate now until 1st March. That is when my mojo usually reappears ?

Your girls are lovely AuntieEalenor

Same here.

Like many people, I feel kind of “flat” about the new year. It’s all so depressing. I received an SAD Therapy light yesterday. Bought it for my son but we sat in front of it together. Takes a while to have any effect I think, worth a try though.

OP, try to get out. You have a dog so you have to, I know. I’m doing half an hour a day of brisk walk with ten mins running. Done it for a while but I do notice my mood dip when I have a few days off.

Here’s my two girls…

Oh no!
Get well soon - are you still in Italy?
I had wondered about the “teary” and “weary” feeling but 2 LFTs were negative so I discounted that.

No I’m back home ..no idea where or when or how I contracted Covid. Everyone in Italy most careful with strict masking etc. maybe at airport ? Maybe in the Italian family ? But tested negative on leaving Italy . It was worth it though for the break, change of scene and time spent with old friend

Aveline Sat 01-Jan-22 09:05:25

Happy new year every. Oh no. The effort of typing that has tired me out. Will just go back to my coffee and a book. I'd eat something but can't be bothered to prepare it. ?

And here’s my sorely missed little couch potato expert - at least, I hope the photo comes up: fingers crossed!

Greyhound or whippet?
It’s a well known fact hounds need 35 hours sleep a day grin ?

I think these feelings are pretty standard for the time of year ?
My excuse is I have Covid!
Not particularly unwell just very tired and a lot of headaches.
So I’m staying in bed and eating toast (well getting rid of the crumbs will give me something to do later)

BlueBelle Sat 01-Jan-22 08:11:14

I don’t know what I ve lost but I start things half heartedly and then put them down never to be seen again it really dies annoy me and I want to give myself a good shake I don’t think anyone notices as when I m with people I feel a bit more motivated
I don’t want to watch day time tv but that what I m starting to do
Roll on better weather so I can do more even if only sitting in the garden
I hate this dull feeling

So reassuring to know I'm not the only one, my GUAG has definitely went! nannarose thanks for the quote, I'd forgotten that - holyjoe.org/poetry/anon7.htm worth a read if you don't already know it.

I think we all agree that we’ll feel more motivated by the longer days and the promise of Spring.
Looking forward to daffodils on my window-sill!

Thank you everyone for sharing and for the lovely pics of your pets! I think animals have a lot to teach us. They don’t feel they have to do anything and are incredibly content to be warm and cozy, have some tasty biscuits nearby and have the occasional tickle of their ears! Just enjoy being!

And here was I thinking it was just me! I feel quite reassured now that I know I’m not the only one

I had a clinic appointment, this morning, so had to be up and about early. It was a mild, sunny morning by the time I returned home, so I decided to go for a walk after lunch. Unfortunately the urge had worn off by the time I had eaten. I have, instead, knitted half a hat and watched tv rubbish all afternoon; I really must get a grip!

Lovely day here in Warwickshire so have had patio doors open. Lovely to get some fresh air in. have picked some colourful foliage to replace Christmas decs and lit a floral wax melt. Feeling more optimistic now I have fooled myself it's nearly spring.
