What is you bedroom like?

Although in France my wood floor bedroom is very English, (and last decorated while I was working) looks very calm and tidy, with a south facing window. John Lewis lamps and white bedding. One wall Farrow and Ball dark green Yukutori wallpaper, another, wall to wall ceiling to floor white curtains hiding bookshelves (plus anything else I can get hidden) with another wall covered in a huge mirrored wardrobe to hide stuff. Never have too many places to hide things behind.

The bedroom is my sanctuary. White, with wooden floor and soft rugs. My favourite paintings, many books, very pale gold lampshades, and the sun floods the room first thing in the morning. I love it!

Well, we have decided on sort of lavender walls, white wood work (of which there is loads including an arched beam from one side of the room to the other) cream carpet, bed and dressing table and white bedding. New curtains and velux blind. They start on Wednesday.

Depends what you do in bed.
If you're sleeping, making love or reading a book, it doesn't really matter what the view is outside the curtains!

Well mine lacks any coherent style. It is a very big room with pale walls and a huge super king sized bed with a pink and cream patchwork cover..... and cream curtains with tiny pink flowers. Big bed now only occupied by me sadly.

The main feature of the room is the fabulous country view and I have the bed up on raisers to take advantage of it while sitting in bed with cup of tea.

It’s my favourite room! Laura ashley wallpaper, green painted woodwork, original fireplace, curtains which are old and red and a bit faded. My bed is Victorian cast iron (ok, marks and Spencer!) with a lovely velvet patchwork cover. I have an old fashioned brass Victorian lamp and painted furniture. It’s my little oasis.

Tartan carpet!?

I decided I wanted a change in the bedroom ( oh made some unprintable jokes ?) but anyway, it’s taken me about 2 weeks of looking at the walls, ordering samples and finally deciding on a tartan wallpaper. Showed it to himself, nah. ? Back to the drawing board.

Yep, Esmay, most rooms in my house ( including my bedroom) look like a library exactly as I like them. My children fear that they might find me dead, in bed, one day, flattened by a fall of the tottering pile of books by my bed.
This is a little at odds with the elegant cream Provencal vibe of the Laura Ashley furniture.

But with lots of lovely books like a library -the way that I like it !

Thank you Josieann I’ll have a look at Elephants breath it sounds interesting. Hopefully then I’ll be able to use light coloured curtains and bedding might put a white blind up too.

Our bedroom is long overdue for re-decorating. We can no longer do decorating ourselves. We were about to get it done when Covid started, and haven't wanted anyone in the house ever since. The biggest problem will be to find a decorator who is willing to work round the furniture, as there is nowhere else to put it. ( king size bed, two chests of drawers, filing cabinet, bedside cupboards). We also need a new carpet. The colour scheme starts with the headboard and quilt which are dark duck egg blue. I plan to order new curtains first.
I have converted the little spare room into a study, though it still has a single bed in it. The other bedroom is DH’s study and there is no room in there.

My decorator was happy to work around my furniture or move it himself, I just removed all the bits and bobs and small items. He’s done work for me before, he is a handyman as well but does decorating with his wife, no papering though but willing to replanted cracks or uneven walls. I trust him implicitly and gave him a key to come and go as he needed.

It took him almost three weeks to decorate the complete bungalow - three bedrooms, lounge, study, garden room, kitchen, bathroom, hall and stairs to dormer room.

I think he thought I was mad doing it all at once but I just wanted the mess over with as soon as possible.

Like a tip,full of clothes.

I got the pattern off the internet & when we were travelling in America, and visiting historic houses, a couple of them had bedspreads in the same leaf pattern.
I’m afraid though Boadicea DD1 has already put her name on it

Merlotgran we had almost identical fitted units when we moved in. I worried about them possibly coming loose above the bed. But the storage was useful.

Our new house came with charcoal carpet in the sitting room and bedrooms, marble tiles everywhere else. And red. Lots of red. Even in the bedroom. High ceilings. A full-height wall acting as a sort of bedhead, behind which are two walk-in wardrobes. That wall was was red. The previous owner had a hectic geometric bedspread in yellow, blue and green. Three beautiful, full-height windows, double aspect, looking out on to a gorgeous garden and a vine-covered pergola. (she was quite a gardener) No curtains, just off-white, textured roller blinds.
I painted the wall a lovely soft marsh green (colours of the NZ bush), and the other walls remain white. The built-in headboard on the green wall is a honey-coloured rimu timber. A linen bedspread in soft blues, creams and greens, with almost Jacobean birds and foliage, and two Victorian side tables, mahogany, with plants, pewter coloured Prinknash pottery and photographs. No storage needed, because of the wardrobes. White and grey marble tiled ensuite, with built-out/three glass-walled shower, looking directly into a private courtyard. Lots of soft green and fresh white accessories. I love it. Sorry, sounds boastful, but I can't believe it's mine!

I am very much like you, Henetha. I cant sleep in my bedroom. Gave me the creeps, lot of people died in there, before I moved in. I have a single bed, and calm colours in the tiniest bedroom. 7 x 7. Its warm cosy and I sleep well. The real bedroom is for storage only.

Wow! To Janea’s amazing bedspread.

I splashed out on some lovely wallpaper when we moved in here and kept some ‘80s built in wardrobes, much to everyone’s surprise! The room is light and cozy with crafting stuff in various places! The rest of our house is fairly minimal but this is my space, where I can just be myself . I love it!
