Fireworks again.....grrr!

Dead quiet in our village last night - unless I slept through it!

Fireworks don’t bother me , I like them.
However, I do wish that they would ban the ‘commercial’ kind for the general public and only let the organisers of public displays use the Commercial, bomb type ones. We’ve always had fireworks in the past but they came in a smallish box with a couple of rockets and some fountain types, we were happy with those and animals weren’t left shell shocked. Fortunately in our small village last night, there were a couple of ordinary rockets and that was it.

I don't mind the fireworks at midnight but they started about 6pm here.

I love fireworks and there were some around this neighbourhood as now is expected at New Year. I am not part of the miserable crowd who want them banning, they actually cheer me up.

Hey, we're not a miserable crowd, but the public getting hold of fireworks extends the noise levels over several days, even weeks in Nov and Dec. If they only let them off Nov 5th weekend and midnight 31st Dec only that would be fine, but it's endless every night on and on. I've been hearing fireworks every evening since Christmas. In Australia they have organised displays only and that seems the way to go.

There appeared to be two different lots of fireworks going off locally. One was ordinary fireworks, the other appeared to be the start of WW3, resembling bombs. This was after midnight so did not go down a treat in this house. At least it was peace and quiet by 12.30 am and with luck, money will be tight for a repeat performance tonight which usually happens.

I expected a big flurry of fireworks at midnight as normal, but they were going non-stop all evening which I don't remember happening before. It was too much. Then it was absolute madness at midnight, like a war zone. Obviously it depends where you live, maybe the folk around here are firework crazy. Or maybe covid-crazy and need to let off steam?

I like fireworks but the ones let off near me simply involve a few loud bangs, no pretty displays.
It is the loud music and drunken singing which annoys me; a loud party somewhere nearby last night with guests clearly outside bawling their heads off for a couple of hours.

I heard fireworks around 8pm but was in bed for 9pm - rather poorly just now but it's not Covid - and never heard a thing for the rest of the night.

Very loud fireworks here at midnight. My two cats are allowed to sleep on my bed on NYE and November 5, so they were with me. Milo did not move from my side ALL NIGHT. Ripley had a bit of a wander round the room. Happy New Year Everyone.

There were hardly any at midnight but loads on and off from 6pm. Ridiculous really and frightening for animals especially as they were mostly loud bangs. Although like BigBertha1 there was one beautiful multi coloured star one at about 8pm. What happened to midnight?

surely it can be excused for ushering in the new year, yes I enjoyed all the sparkles in the sky here and opened my door to 'let the new year in'.

We don't have fireworks around here tonight (Canada).

I agree that they should be banned except for organized displays. They can cause issues for animals, babies, small children, and people who have some types of PTSD, such as some military personnel. They can also be very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing with them.

Only a few here and nothing later than 11pm. There was a huge multi coloured star burst right over our house. Beautiful. I took it as a sign of good luck for the year ahead.

Happy New Year! We watched Jools Holland too. Yes it’s still going on here the fireworks our girl is shaking from head to toe. We still haven’t repaired the door she scratched in November. A job for me to do in the spring goodnight?

Fireworks here too, made sure my cat was inside by 10 pm. Lots of loud bangs from miles away , sky lit up . We went outside to watch , however we live in a rural area and I can understand how the farming community are unhappy with the New year eve celebrations. Watched Jools Holland on tv , loved Ruby Turner ! Happy new year everyone and lets hope it is a safe and happy one ☺️.

They were going off round here, so I stepped outside to watch.
Unfortunately the cute little tom cat which hangs around had sprayed all over my grandsons bike cover, so now i smell of cats pee.

They were fantastic round here, and while I agree with you about the loud noises, even though our young dog isn’t bothered, I don’t mind the fireworks.
We had local fireworks-lasted 5 minutes. Imagine if you lived near one of the official displays and they went on and on.
Hope we can have a Happier New Year than the last two.
