Good Morning Everyone ,
Its dark and wet here in brackley this morning, a quiet day of watching cyclo cross on TV to see how the Brits do, then more TV later on mainstream .
I am going to make a cottage pie cheat menu , with tin of mince beef and onion ,and ready made mash with a sprinkling of cheese grated of course .
Take care,
Mick

A late hello from Shropshire where we have been battling Covid.

In spite of having both vaccines and the booster it has been a battle but hopefully we are turning a corner today.

I have been reading the thread but not been up to posting but my thoughts and prayers have been with GrannySomerset,Maria,Gingster and Chrissielou.Thinking of you all and wishing you the strength you need in the days ahead?

Maria59 Sun 02-Jan-22 12:24:25

Very late this morning as we have decided to do 10K steps every morning in an effort to lift the gloom we feel. No change with DS2 however he has made good progress over the last week and we know this will be a long road. DS rang earlier and he is bringing DGS1 for a visit today and they will stay for a roast dinner. We haven't seen them in person since Christmas eve so are v excited. Hugs to all who need them please help yourselves. GrannySomerset I have no words thanks

Good afternoon Mick and all from cloudy, windy North Lanarkshire, we are getting ready for a wee walk in the park.

I went to morning Mass instead of my usual early evening one, family coming later for traditional soup, shortbread, steak pie.

Sending love and prayers for all who need/wish them. Thinking especially of GrannySomerset at this time, and remembering the poorly daughters/ in law, also all those suffering with Covid, may you recover quickly and completely. ???

A late good morning from a sunny, blustery Glasgow. A FaceTime catch up with DD2 in Australia and another with GD1 filled my morning.

I can empathise in a sense with your sad situation GrannySomerset but mine was watching my Mother suffer so much for the last 3 months of her life, I can only imagine how it must feel if it were my DH. Wishing you strength to help you through the saddest of times and huge ((hugs)) for comfort.
I hope you won’t be too ill baubles and begin to feel better soon.
Also wishing strength to your. DDs, gingster and Chrissielou

Have a pleasant day all and stay well. My thoughts too for those going through tough times, I hope your situation changes for the better.

I don't post every day GrannySomerset but keep popping back to see how you are coping. Such a trying and testing time for you and the family. Take care and hugs to you all.

Hello Alizarin. My bit of Cornwall now has sun - well a glimpse of it - so I''m hoping it reached you first. Have you plans to go to Trebah yet? I'm starting my membership next month but hope to get my last free visit (Heligan membership) in later this month - one sunny day soon!

Good morning from the north of Scotland, balmy at 7 degrees. Lots of people out walking briskly, taking the air. There seems to be more dogs than ever. I am used to seeing people with one or two but now see people with three or four dogs. The owners always look slim and fit!
A long walk is on the cards then leftovers and quiet reading.
Wishing all those with sadness and difficulties some resolution.
To everyone else, take care and make the most of the good bits.

Good Morning, the sun is shining, a bit pale , but it’s there , I might hang out the washing
Son was in for a chat and interrupted the bed making , I better do it before bed time
Said Son has finally followed the guidelines and left the patio doors open an sat as far away as possible , some of his friends are positive , but he hadn’t been in there company recently.
My thoughts are with all our sick and poorly friends here , GrannySomerset I am wishing you strength for the days ahead xxx

Good morning everyone from a dull and overcast Heathrow area.
OH is in the kitchen starting on lunch, its a leg of lamb today the leftovers of which I will turn into pies tomorrow for the freezer.
I have my 4th jab (my booster) booked for tomorrow morning, our GP contacted me last week to get it booked.
GrannySomerset my thoughts are with you and Baubles please take care of yourself.
Special hugs to all who are in need of them.

Nannagarra Sun 02-Jan-22 11:12:30

Good morning Mick and all, It has been raining in this corner of Lancashire, where it is currently 10°C. It is brightening up now, so today’s plan is another walk after lunch. Started my 365 days of creativity yesterday and have had some thoughts on what today’s creation will be. Physio exercises as usual.

Thinking of all those with sadness and troubles today, especially GrannySomerset flowers

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all
It is damp and dismal here, but to cheer us up, our granddaughter and family are coming, and best of all, bringing lunch. What a treat! I am so looking forward to seeing them and especially our great granddaughter. She is a delight, can you tell I dote on her?
I have had a few days of not feeling myself, so this should be the medicine I need.
Tomorrow we shall probably take down the few decorations that we did manage to put up, but I will leave my long string of fairy lights. We left them up all last year, as I do love them.
Must also get my calendars and diaries organised, then at least I may manage to not forget anything important.
Thinking of GrannySomerset and sending gentle hugs and love.
Have a good day one and all.

hollysteers Sun 02-Jan-22 11:04:11

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
New Year resolution broken very quickly as stayed up late watching Aftermath (very good) and the plan was to be in bed before 12 every night…As the cat jumps on me before 6 in the morning, it’s not ideal.
Off into the city by train to meet friend. Been trying to book tickets for an exhibition, but it’s proving complicated. Might just show up. Otherwise a meal and the museum. Don’t feel like going, as always, but glad when I do. It forces me to wash my hair and even paint my nails!
Thoughts to GrannySomerset and Chrissielou

Good Morning All x.
Have had to put the light on as it's gone very overcast. First thing it was the usual bright sunny Springlike morning, mild too, but it's quite grey now. No heating on for 3 days running !

I was rudely awakened by a loud squawk, goodness knows what the dickens it was. It sounded like a strangled parrot ! Then all went quiet. Most peculiar. Not a soul about either.

As I was getting the crumpets I stopped and realised how much cooking and washing of pots and pans I've been doing this past week or so. There's only me for goodness sake but I've felt as though I've been cooking for others too ?

Even today, not satisfied that I've got a small piece of ham left, I've bunged a piece of beef in the oven to have later for dinner with roast pots. Yorkshires and a couple of veg. Ah well, it'll do me until mid-week now as I'll mince the last of it on Tuesday.

I hadn't realised that Tuesday was a Bank Holiday, so will have to wait for the aerial man until towards next weekend. It's looking like Steptoe's yard here with the big TV looking like a big black shadow in the corner and the small ( working ) TV balancing on an " elephant chair ", but at least I'm not tellyless.

Others have far greater problems here and I'm genuinely sorry for these troubling times that have been bestowed upon you. GrannySomerset who I can relate with and feel her sadness. Ginny and her sick DD and worrying about childcare.
Chrissielou's DD facing treatment this year.
So many poorly people around. I hope you can find a bit of comfort in pouring out your worries here where everyone listens and gives support where they can. flowers for all. x

Hope everyone has a good day whatever you do. Stay safe and take care xx

Nannagarra Sun 02-Jan-22 10:48:48

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is grey and damp. Roast beef on the menu; I just need to persuade DH that I’m not keen to eat it “tres bien cuit”!
Happy birthday to Jaxjacky’s son. My mum was born on this day.
Glad your mum was on her best behaviour yesterday, Grandmabatty. Result!
May those who have tested positive make a speedy recovery. Take it easy, baubles.
I’d like to join in the collective hug of GrannySomerset whose inner turmoil is so well conveyed and perfectly understandable.
Thinking of you all. x

Good morning from a blustery and damp Anglesey.
GrannySomerset thinking of you constantly, such a sad and heartbreaking time for you all.
A hard time ahead Chrissielou, stay strong. The time will pass and happy times will be restored.
Make the best of your last day together for a while grandMattie. I know you will.
Good to see you Alizarin, interesting Christmas present should keep you busy while you wait for improved weather for allotmenteering.
Very sensible Beechnut to wait for help moving heavy items. Enjoy that lunch, sounds delicious.
Thoughts with anyone feeling sad, anxious or just plain lonely. Better days around the corner ??????.
