Stupid purchases just avoided

We have a double mattress and, in winter, a KS duvet. I like the extra width but don't like the extra length, which makes it heavy. I am seriously thinking of chopping a foot off the end of the duvet and cover. Has anyone done this?

why do you not have two singles? I understand that there was no such thing as a double duvet until they passed out of europe into other countries. I have stayed in german hotels a couple of times and there you got double beds with two single duvets. Much easier, no duvet fights.

A single duvet would not be enough for the fussy OH. He would wrap it round his head and his feet would stick out. Lucky for him I get hot in bed so am happy to let him have ⅔ of the duvet.

greenlady not quite the same thing but we had eiderdowns.

My DS bought what he thought was a soup ladle. When it arrived it was so tiny it would have taken hours to serve a bowlful.
I think it was a preserve spoon he had mistakenly ordered.

We bought a new KS bed with two single mattresses. I made the fitted sheets in KS with extra deep sides and enough to tuck underneath. We bought single duvets and single duvets covers - a duvet each, no tug of war in the night and so much easier to change the covers.

Always had King size on standard double, they are big bigger but fine.

I use king sized sheets and a king size duvet on a double bed - but they are flat sheets. I like plenty to tuck in as DH pulls fitted sheets off when he turns over. Clearly king size fitted sheets would be much too big!
