Good morning from a VERY frosty Yorkshire. Just had to de-ice my car, the poor sheep in the fields on a day such as today.

Im looking after my youngest GS this morning. School has started for the others.

Hope everyone has a lovely day whatever it consists of....

harrigran Tue 04-Jan-22 08:00:39

Good morning from a snowy NE.
It was raining when I want to bed but felt a lot colder than of late.
Busy day yesterday, washing and ironing all day.
Went out to sort recycling and neighbour shouted over to tell me he had covid, he said it was like a heavy cold and a headache.
DS was sorting out the holidays, we are going to have a family holiday in the spring. I have not been on holiday for six years.
More tidying up to do and shopping list to sort for when SIL comes tomorrow.
My thoughts are with GrannySomerset and all with health issues.

Good morning all from my bit of North Leicestershire where the weather is still a mystery as I haven't looked out yet.

I am really discombobulated! We have moved to the spare room while our bedroom is decorated and I don't like it!!

I have an appointment for my highlights this morning and so I will have a wander round town while I am out.

brook2704 Tue 04-Jan-22 07:53:34

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s all very wintry with snow on the ground and more coming down just now - brrrrr need to wrap up warm today ?
Good that your DD is home now Gingster and I hope she continues to recover well
We had a good journey back from DD1 in Cambridge and kind SiL picked us up from the airport for the short trip home. Today I’ll be putting away all the Christmas decorations and having a good cleaning session.
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Is it ever going to get light this morning?..... such a dark dismal morning and still dark at coming up to 8am...... hope it soon brightens up,

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 04-Jan-22 07:46:29

Well, I am still in bed so have no idea what the weather is like in West Oxfordshire! I think today will be spent chasing up a couple of Christmas presents which still haven’t arrived! I also have a talk on Tudor London to listen to. I am a member of the WI and have listened on line to many lectures over the past two years. Now, they have decided that one can rent a limited number of talks and give you 72 hours once your fiver has been paid.

Gagagran Tue 04-Jan-22 07:45:31

Good Morning everyone from a gloomy south coast with ominous dark clouds again as it begins to get light.

I have to visit the library today to return the pile of books which kept me going over Christmas. The library was moved last autumn, from a central location, which was very well attended, to an out of the way, off the beaten track corner of an old school, now a community centre. I have only ever seen one other borrower in there and I suspect that before long the powers that be will declare it uneconomic and close it. Such a shame as in its previous location there were always Mums with little ones in the children's area, people using the computers as well as shelf browsers and borrowers. Apparently the lease on that location was up and the cost of a new lease was going to be too high. It's still empty though.

Hope the day is a good one for us all. sunshine

Good morning from a cold, damp Colchester. It's just starting to get light.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day. The shop is reopening after a long Christmas break, so there'll be a lot of sorting out to do.
Love to all ? x

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow. Keen to know where you are heading off to on your trip, Mick.

Another disturbed night for me, so yet another gentle day. I'm trying not to go anywhere, until my hospital appointment on Friday, I can't believe the number of people I know, who have Covid, after carefully managing to avoid it for the last two years. It's quite scary.
I desparately need to see my new RA consultant, face to face, the first time in two years. Every consultation during the pandemic has been by phone. sad.

Thinking of GrannySomerset and her family. May they find the strength to get through the next few days.
Baubles and Susan, I hope you are improving. ?

Have the best day you can, folks.

dragonfly46 Tue 04-Jan-22 07:24:09

Pleased your DS got back okay GrandMattie.

Ashcombe Tue 04-Jan-22 07:21:37

Good morning, all, from a dry, cooler Torbay!

We started the day with a bang. As DH made the tea, I plugged in a charger which caused a flash which blew all the electrics, both lighting and power points! ! In the pitch dark I groped for my phone for a torch so we could sort out the fuse box. All fine now, I’m pleased to say!

When I read your post, Alizarin, I stupidly said,
“How could Alizarin know that Easter eggs are on sale in Iceland?”
DH replied, “I think she means the shop!”

I blame the shock of the electrical issue!!

Gingster: your cheerful message is uplifting especially when you have much on your plate. Scentia: take care and look after that leg. I hope your DS had a safe journey back to India, grandMattie and you have a gentle day.

A new term for many today and back to work for most. Good luck to them all. ?????

dragonfly46 Tue 04-Jan-22 07:21:34

Good morning from dark Leicestershire.

Nothing planned as a friend’s DH tested positive yesterday. Her LFT was negative but I spent time with her last Thursday so being careful.
I am not sure what the rules are anymore but will try and order some LFTs.

Have a good day everyone.

grandMattie Tue 04-Jan-22 07:18:49

Alizarin, I saw Easter eggs in the co-op on 27 December!

grandMattie Tue 04-Jan-22 07:17:22

Good morning from a dry E Kent.
Scampering around as I have an 8 o’clock appointment for my feet, then 1030 for my teeth!
DS got his negative PCR, flew into Delhi and seems to have had a negative one there too, so is booked into his connecting flight. Phew! He is not normally a worrier so to see him in that state was hard.
Carpe diem, dear friends, have some sunshine ☀️ in your lives today ?????

AGAA4 Tue 04-Jan-22 07:17:17

Good morning from North Wales. Feels colder today with possibility of snow later.
It is my DD1s birthday today. I will celebrate with her on Saturday.
Usual walk soon. Will remember to take my gloves.
Have a good day everyone with special thoughts for those who are not well or have worries ?

Grandmadinosaur Tue 04-Jan-22 07:15:53

Good morning all from a dark and damp East Yorkshire.

Yesterday we had a walk around our lovely marina. It was glorious in the winter sun and we had lunch out after.
I could get used to that routine but normal service resumed today with DH back to work. Today I’m going to my coffee morning. Then I need to put away more Christmas stuff ie linen, dinner service etc. and tidy up the back bedroom. I also need to go to the village to do some banking.
GS here after school later after his first day back.

I spotted the Easter eggs at our local Co op last week Alizarin

Take care everyone.

Gingster Tue 04-Jan-22 07:15:07

Good morning all and it’s very dark but still here in Essex.

Dd came out if hospital yesterday , little gd was so excited to see her. Dd has to keep her foot up as much as possible so I will be round there doing all the necessary. I hope she does as she’s told, but it’s hard when you have children and no partner.

I’m hoping to go to my Bridge club this afternoon, as the children are at school and Dd can rest . I’ll see how the land lies!

Life is hard for lots of people at the moment, so let’s all be positive and know that Spring is around the corner ?. All this WILL pass! ?

Scentia Tue 04-Jan-22 07:06:46

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is wet and windy.
I had my leg looked at yesterday and apparently it is quite normal for a torn hamstring to bruise like that, they said anyone could have slipped in mud going downhill and I am not to worry but just rest it when I can, yet move it about too!! Not sure how that works?
I have DGC today and we are taking a slow walk to the swimming pool and then get the bus back, we will then prepare the table for mummy coming back to her birthday tea.
DH woke up in the night with a sharp intake of breath then he was coughing so much he was sick, he doesn’t have a cough so he is convinced I tried to suffocate him in his sleep?
I do hope all my GN friends are able to smile a little today?

Beechnut Tue 04-Jan-22 06:56:50

Good Morning everyone. The weather on Severnside is also very wet.

I’ve had a nice time with Beechnutella. Yesterday we went for a riverbank walk. It blew a few cobwebs away. Talking about cobwebs there were a few behind the microwave when she moved it for me. It’s not been moved since DH died.

I’m off to the dentist this afternoon and have a birthday card to make this morning.

Keep on keeping safe all and if you’re going out remember your brolly ☔️

Alizarin Tue 04-Jan-22 06:17:28

Good morning from a fresh, mild south Cornwall. I was out on my patio at 5am, where the stars were brighter than I've seen for weeks. First meeting of our allotment knitters' group today at a cafe, lots of catch-up chatter I expect and a feeling of getting back to normal. There were Easter eggs in Iceland yesterday, yikes. Thoughts and prayers for all with worries and thank you for the welcomes back.

cornergran Tue 04-Jan-22 06:11:38

Morning Mick, morning All. Oier corner of Somerset is dark and very wet this morning.

You’re an even earlier bird today mick. Hope your day goes to plan. My boomerang bugs have woken me with an earache, grumble, grumble. Just when I think I’m improving back they come with more joys.

Little happening here, packed away most of Christmas yesterday then reinstated some battery lights as it all seemed so dark and gloomy without the trees.

Off to make a cuppa now, will try not to wake Mr C who will be sleeping soundly.

Thinking of you all, especially those finding life hard going. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

Michael12 Tue 04-Jan-22 05:58:14
