Fabricated posts…..why?

There has been a spate of fabricated posts recently.
I think the latest is to feed someone’s sexual fantasy the others have just been ridiculous.
What on earth goes through these peoples minds when they write this tosh?
Do they get a kick out of the replies?

The obvious wind-ups and the fetishists are usually spotted and got rid of - they don't bother me so much.

However, the story-telling that pulls in members who have the best of intentions and are trying to help - gives me the creeps that you can be conversing with fantasists, who are IMO definitely not teenagers.

I agree about that one feeling like an exam Chew. The ones involving children and sex are sick. The rest just waste people’s time and prey on their willingness to help and advise.

Definitely not teens gagajo they are to busy tiktoking or snap chatting to come on here It’s not even cool to go on FB

Blossoming Tue 11-Jan-22 17:07:54

Absolutely, Chewbacca

At the risk of sounding totally paranoid, did anyone else wonder about the woman who could afford to give £100k to each of her four adult children but they were all totally different and some might squander it?

I was a bit hmm It felt like it was one of those mental arithmetic exam papers where you have to keep factoring in different anomalies before you get to the right answer!
I don't really care about those kind of trolls tbh; the ones that anger me beyond reason are where they include children and sex. That just crosses a line for me

It was deleted very quickly JenniferEccles. * Grandmabatty* the poo troll is a frequent Mumsnet subject.

I wondered about the Countess who expected gifts for doing a favour. A bit on the twinset and pearls side (apologies to anyone so clad). Anyway she thought posters were ‘abominably rude’ and said she wasn’t coming back.

JenniferEccles Tue 11-Jan-22 16:38:59

Has today’s been removed?
The last one I spotted was the 14 year old, plus the over/keen man friend one which had at least three incarnations until GN admitted it was a hoax and sent the person packing.

They aren’t always easy to spot.
Some posters tales of the way they are treated and what they are prepared to put up with from their partners or grown up so often seem children seem completely unbelievable to me.

Someone might then also express doubts only to be told that the original poster has been a member for a while, so the story was genuine.

Grandmabatty Tue 11-Jan-22 16:16:07

I got caught this morning *Blossoming",to my chagrin. They seem to proliferate, don't they?

GagaJo Tue 11-Jan-22 15:53:11

All I can say is, if they ARE fetishes, they have a very wide range of interests!

My money is still on teenagers. They're so lacking in scope for their ideas.

Blossoming Tue 11-Jan-22 15:48:21

And another one this morning. If an unknown user starts a post with ‘I’m not a troll’ they almost certainly are!

VioletSky Mon 10-Jan-22 19:36:50

Honestly, I think they are deeply unhappy and would probably unravel if simply treated with kindness.

I think it's a shame that many probably genuine threads are being dismissed and filled with unkindness as a result of paranoia

Georgesgran Mon 10-Jan-22 19:28:10

JaneJudge - love that expression! Mine is that ‘I’ll bare my a*se in Fenwicks’s window!’

JaneJudge Mon 10-Jan-22 18:13:51

Gosh there is someone posting rather ALOT who cannot be real grin !!!! If she is real I'll superglue my ass TO THE FRONT window like I did in 1963

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 10-Jan-22 16:45:44

Oh dear. He could be on here then? It sounds very creepy but not illegal provided it doesn’t go any further than what you describe. There must be many such lonely people about. Even worse for him when he eventually loses his parents. Poor chap.

Scentia Mon 10-Jan-22 16:39:27

An acquaintance of mine is quite open that he does this type of thing on lots of forums. He is 58, lives with his mother and father and has never had a true friend. He feels he is doing no harm even when he is on free dating sites, I honestly cannot stand the bloke and one day I swear he will be on the news having done something awful. No one seems bothered about him though, even the police say, what exactly has he done wrong.

Namsnanny Mon 10-Jan-22 14:31:03

As I've mentioned previously, having been in the position of not being believed once before.
So I tend not to worry too much if a thread or poster is being honest or not.
I either dont post if I'm sure it seems dubious (as Elizabeth27 has already suggested). Or put my pov, and not worry about it.

JenniferEccles Mon 10-Jan-22 13:38:47

Not sure how much to say but yes to the accident.
I’m still not sure of the rules on what can be discussed and what can’t.

Curlywhirly Mon 10-Jan-22 13:02:25

Ah, think I know who you mean now! The one that was involved in an accident?

Curlywhirly Mon 10-Jan-22 13:00:38

M??? Do tell, wracking my brains but can't think who you mean.?

JenniferEccles Mon 10-Jan-22 12:49:17

Meant to say I will never forget that one of course!

Hi farview

farview Mon 10-Jan-22 12:11:37

jennifereccles ?

JenniferEccles Mon 10-Jan-22 11:46:01

Oh yes the infamous M.
I will never that one.

Elizabeth27 Mon 10-Jan-22 11:38:45

If they were ignored they would not bother doing it, but no matter how many times it is said the trolls are discussed at length, replied to, and many people write reported on the threads.

Just ignore them, it is not difficult.
