Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dark, and a wet morning here in brackley this morning.
Todays plans are to go via Buckingham to Bicester and return direct .
I will have a breakfast bap in the bakery cafe I use in Bicester plus a coffee ,and then a small shop.
Later I will have my usual Saturday Chinese , mind you I wanted my regular Fish & Chip shop take away yesterday , but it was closed due to a family member having Covid .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.

GrannySomerset, my condolences to you. Here's hoping that you take care of yourself now and can relax a little.

Sorry to hear that you are not sleeping well GrandMattie, and that your DH is poorly as well. Hugs to you both.

I had a good chat with one of the oncology team yesterday and got some of my worries off my chest.
DD phoned in the evening and sounded so tired with all the extra work that the vaccination programme entails, staff shortages etc.
We will have to do some shopping later, as the cupboards are looking rather bare. Having never shopped on line, it is beginning to look more favourable. But, I'm not sure that I could actually bring myself to start.
Marydoll, glad you got to your appointment, albeit, a scary journey, and that you had time to discuss things in length.
Thinking of EV, after my crumpets this morning. They were huge, and after yesterdays fight with the toaster, I had to do them under the grill. Especially tasty though with GD's Damson jam.
Have a good day one and all.

Crossed posts GrannySomerset. Your DH is now at peace and you can grieve for the man you loved.

BlueSapphire Sat 08-Jan-22 09:14:04

Good morning everyone from a wet and grey Northampton, luckily I have no plans to go out today.

Caught up with a few house jobs yesterday, hoovered upstairs, a proper damp dust of the sitting room after all the decs came down, dining room still to do, then cleaned out the cats' litter tray. Then spent the afternoon reading. Have not picked up my knitting since before Christmas as I grazed my knuckle badly, and it has only just healed up.

Another day in with the papers, crosswords and my book, and will probably watch some catch-up tv this afternoon. Oh, I must put pen to paper this weekend and write a condolence note to a recently bereaved husband. Sadly his wife, my old college friend, died 4 days before Christmas. Have chosen a card to send as well.

Very envious Urms, I have eight months to wait (fingers crossed) before I see Spain (and France) on my cruise.

Thinking of those with worries and cares.

Nannytopsy Sat 08-Jan-22 09:13:05

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Urms & Marydoll it’s good to catch up on all your news. It was a good opportunity to get to the bottom of things Marydoll.
DH is creating breakfast for DGC before I wash coloured chalks out of madam’s hair and try to remove the sparkles. Then lunch at a local pub followed by the Panto! They don’t really understand what a pantomime is, so men dressed as ugly sisters etc should be interesting!
Best wishes to you all

GrannySomerset Sat 08-Jan-22 09:12:37

DH died peacefully yesterday evening. I had spent time with him in the afternoon and knew he had moved out of hunan contact and am relieved it is all over for him.

Thank you to everyone who has held us in their thoughts in the past few weeks. It has made me feel so much less alone.

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Jan-22 09:09:40

Good morning everyone.
It’s another dark, wet day in Derby.
Instead of a funny I will share a little trivia titbit.

The term doolally (as mentioned above by Mary) originates from Empirical India. (I’m doing this from memory- so, apologies, it may be a bit garbled.)

Anyway, the phrase was originally doolally tap.
There was a town or village in India called what sounds like Doolally, and it had a problem with a disease ridden water supply - which when drunk from sent you delirious.

So a person acting crazily was accused of drinking from the doolally tap.

That’s my contribution for today! smile

Wishing everyone a calm and peaceful day, and my thoughts are with those of us who are sad, worried, or poorly x
