Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dark, and a wet morning here in brackley this morning.
Todays plans are to go via Buckingham to Bicester and return direct .
I will have a breakfast bap in the bakery cafe I use in Bicester plus a coffee ,and then a small shop.
Later I will have my usual Saturday Chinese , mind you I wanted my regular Fish & Chip shop take away yesterday , but it was closed due to a family member having Covid .
Take Care,

Good Morning Saturday 8th January 2022
(112 Posts)Good morning Mick and all who follow - that breakfast bap sounds tempting ? might rustle up a mollete with the last of the bacon for brunch - we’re trying to use everything in the fridge before returning to Blighty next week!
Miss Marydoll- our travel insurance is through bank account although we do pay extra for Mr PG and his conditions, which are numerous and ever changing......when I get his hip done, he manages to need t’other done, you get my drift! Good job he’s worth his weight as a handyman, or he’d have been put off hire long ago?
I’ll be bringing ? back with me AGA and hope not to need my vests - drafted things my mam made me wear when SHE felt cold ?, even in summer?
Be back later to read your mischiefs....
Good Morning Mick and all to come from here in East Staffordshire where it looks rather wet out there.
I was awoken by a gentle knock on our bedroom door from DGS who greeted me with a smile and a hand when I opened the door, saying “Powwa” which is his word for porridge! Who can resist that at 6.00am❤️
We will now spend a few hours watching Peppa Pig be rude to her Daddy and Dogs saving the Mayor from danger? oh the joys of kids TV.
No plans today apart from cleaning Guineas out. I will do a LFT tomorrow as that is day 5 to see if I am negative for two days running. DD will do one today and tomorrow.and hopefully be able to get home to DH for the afternoon on Sunday before he heads back to work.
Hope you are ok Grannysomerset
Hope you arrived ok Urms
Take care everyone and stay safe and warm❤️
Good morning from a dark, cold E Kent.
Another bad night. I don’t sleep well, but DH has taken it to other heights. He has aged so much since Philip died, and his sleep has really been affected. It is sad to see.
Not a lot going on today. I’ll probably make a chilli for tonight.
I hope Urms arrived ok and marydoll’s appointment went well. Hugs for grannySomerset and any other who needs comfort of any sort. Carpe diem. ????
Good morning from North Wales. Not quite as cold and pant is bringing some warmth back with her so I may thaw out ?
Will be meeting my DD and GCs later for her birthday lunch.
I hope Marydoll's appointment went well yesterday.
Thoughts with Grannysomerset.
Have a good day all and ? for all who are not well or have troubles.
Good morning to you all from wet Wiltshire.
Absolutely nothing other planned other than dog walks and getting on with sorting my craft room - 4 bin bags of yarn went to a new home yesterday so that’s a start!
Our local Facebook is great for getting rid of things.
I hope you all have a peaceful weekend.
Good morning from a dark Oxfordshire, if I have a look at the weather I’ll wake up MissOops dog, so I’ll stay in bed for a while.
Soup making today, enough for all of us so that MissOops and nephew won’t have to stop packing and cook, they can take it when they collect their dog.
Have a good day everyone, thinking of Grandmasomerset and all those with cares and worries.
Good Morning all from a cold, dark and wet Severnside. It’s likely to be miserable all day so the news of sunshine will be very welcome from Pant and Urms.
I’ve some jobs to catch up on so it’ll be a day of pottering.
My thoughts to all with sorrow ?
?☔️
Good morning all from a wet S Hants, I was rudely awoken by a message from a friend on holiday in Malta, who seems to have forgotten the time difference, at 6:40 he got a short response. We had a lovely Indian takeaway delivered last night, enough left for brunch later.
MrJ will get the paper when he surfaces, we have rain forecast of and on all day, so no real plans.
I hope Urms had a trouble free trip.
Thoughts with GrannySomerset.
Enjoy your day all, watch for a ? or ??.
Good morning from dark Leicestershire.
Popping into town this morning to take back a pair of slippers to Next. It is the 6th pair of slippers I have sent back since Christmas. I am sure they are making them narrower!
We also need to go to Boots as their audiologists central booking system is rubbish and you cannot contact the store.
We might dare to have a coffee while we are there.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from a wet and windy Torbay.
A poor night's sleep doesn’t help the day but is understandable in the case of your DH, grandMattie. Difficult for you both and these dreary days aren’t helpful.
Yesterday, I was asked by our theatre committee to support our Treasurer as we informed a long serving employee that her services were no longer required, due to financial constraints. Both he and I lost sleep over this matter but she accepted the decision with admirable dignity. I felt wretched on her behalf but Covid closures have affected our income with audience numbers remaining lower than normal for the two plays that have gone ahead recently.
Only two attendees turned up for our Memory Café in the afternoon; people are nervous about being around others. Our team of six helpers made the best of it and we all enjoyed the entertainment provided - a skiffle group and a short talk about Joyce Grenfell.
Thoughts with those with worries of any kind. Take care. ?????
Good morning from south Cornwall where it's very wet and windy. Our allotment coffee morning in our community cabin has been cancelled due to the weather. It's the first time we're trying to push on through the winter with it; we usually run it March to December. I'll pop across to Wetherspoons for breakfast, then to the Art School shop to look at the price of their largest canvasses. Have the best day you can.
Morning from wet S Lanarkshire where I hope the rain washes away all the snow before it freezes over and makes the roads even more tricky.
This would have been youngest DD’s first baby’s 12th birthday. She was ‘born sleeping’ as they say now, and I will meet DD and her family for a walk they do every year to mark her birthday. They are very fortunate to have had two more lovely children since then but Grace remains their precious firstborn. They have cherry blossom tiles in their kitchen representing something beautiful that doesn’t remain for long.
Hoping for as peaceful as possible day for everyone ???
Good morning everyone from the Scottish Borders where it has just stopped raining. This is good because the roof man is coming to inspect my latest leak, this morning.
I am invited out for lunch but must make a pudding because I offered!
Scentia I am glad you are almost done with the isolating. Where do you get the test kits? Our chemists have notices saying they have none .
So Pantglas and Urms will be passing in the sky today. There's a thought
Thinking of all those with pain of body or heart.
Here is a view from my snowy walk yesterday.
Good morning from Polmont where it's still dark and looks wet outside. I will go out to Aldi in a while for a small shop. I've nothing else planned. Have a good day all
Good morning from a dull and breezy N. Bucks.
Small local food shop today and then hoping to take a short walk with DD2. She is feeling a bit better now and is desperate to get outside.
Wishing you all the best day possible.
A poignant post, Stillearning, but such beautiful ways of remembering a very sad time for all the family. Thinking of you and your DD.
Good morning all from dark and promising to rain Harrogate.
I didn’t get to Knaresborough yesterday- it was too icy For me. Might try again today.
Hope you got a re-assuring consultation yesterday Marydoll
You will be well away from the UKs horrible weather now Urms I do envy you and Pantglas. It is years (about 3) since I’ve been to Spain, mind you when I was there we had the heaviest rain I’ve had for about 20 years!
Thinking of you grannysomerset
Hope everyone has the best day possible.
Hello everyone . I had a quick look outside and my village in West Oxfordshire looks damp and bleak! I slept well last night after the shenanigans of the night before when I was up half the night with a horrendously bad tummy. A quiet day today, I think. I have bits of WI admin to do - we have decided not to have our January meeting. The average age of our members is well over 70 and the Covid rates are very high in this area. Toad in the hole is on the menu tonight so I will make that and find a recipe for a pudding for tomorrow. Steamed treacle pudding?
Good morning all from a very damp Essex.
Dd was told yesterday that there are still some cancer cells on her mole site. She has had a big area removed, so we hoped it was clear. She has to go back next week to see what the next step is. ??.
Eldest Gd is coming for lunch today, before she goes back to Uni next week. DD and family will come too and DS1 and family will pop in later to see her, so we’ll have a jolly time which will be good for us all.
Enjoy your last week of sunshine Pants and we look forward to hearing from Urms with Spanish tales to cheer us.
GranMattie - grief certainly takes its toll. Time will ‘help’ to heal. ?
Wishing you all a gentle day. ??
“Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day. “ ? ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga! We had a great journey. Manchester airport was very quiet - it was sad to see. You don’t realise how much the travel industry has been decimated until you use it, IYSWIM. We had booked aisle seats on the plane and no one sat next to us!
What we did notice, post EU uncoupling 1 January this year, was that after duty free perfumes, the cabin crew pushed a cart out with cigarettes & spirits to buy! Whisky sir?
The trek through Malaga airport wasn’t for the faint hearted - the walkway was uphill and down dale. But at passport control there was no queue. Brilliant.
We walked across the concourse, bought Renfe tickets for the train and it arrived in 5 minutes. Perfect timing. 6 stops later we alighted the train and in our ‘hood dived into Pedro’s corner bar where I had a welcome G&T. Bigger measures of gin out here in your drink that’s for sure!
Are you still with me Dear Reader or am I boring you to death with the minutiae of my witterings?
For those who are still with me ? ... we slept like logs a full 8 hours. I’ve got a cuppa in bed. Himself is ‘pottering’. They do say opposites attract don’t they? He just said “after 3 months away you forget where everything is!”. True. Each cupboard seems to surprise him. He’s checked what we have in the drinks cupboard - “oh I forgot we bought this bottle of Tanqueray gin last time”. I’m happy just to discover things at my leisure but he’s on a mission!
So this morning will be spent getting shoes out of boxes, sorting out clothes for winter in the drawers - I can safely put away my sarongs and flip flops - to get a bit organised. This afternoon I want to stroll along the paseo. I want to see the sparkling Mediterranean up close and watch the noisy parakeets in the palm trees! Those birds lift my spirits every time.
I’m joyous to be back. Enjoy Saturday all who can. I hope your rheumatology appointment went well Marydoll. Here’s Matt. Actually, I’ll post it separately in case I lose this. x
Good morning all from North Leicestershire.
A slow start for us but we are collecting Bertie and the construction present we bought Jim for Christmas. As he is here, we will have sausage sandwiches for lunch.
I am looking forward to getting back into a normal rhythm again. So, a walk into the village for flowers and bits and bobs is on the cards.
Sending hugs to everyone who needs them.
Stilllearning ? for your daughter and you. Urms good to hear from you in sunny Spain. Enjoy the Mediterranean sea, you lucky woman.
Good morning everyone from a very rainy and cold Inverness where it’s just getting light. Good to hear you’ve arrived safely Urms and enjoy getting settled back in
Stilllearning sending gentle hugs on this very special day for you and your DD
A difficult situation Ashcombe but pleased that the lady accepted it well
No plans for us yet today, yesterday we had a last minute request to pick up the DGC from school as their dad had been delayed at work. Brrr it was cold though standing outside waiting but that didn’t matter when they came running out to greet us - priceless!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
