A rather LARGE mistake.

I’m doing up a 1930’s bungalow but thankfully my ‘why on earth didn’t I check the measurements’ mistake was a small one.

I ordered some grey stick on tiles to jazz up the dated ones in the kitchen by randomly sticking them here and there.

When I opened the package I realised they were stick on sheets of multiple tiny tiles. Trendy but useless for the kitchen.

I’m going to cover the conservatory window sills with them instead as at the moment they are stained a revolting ginger colour and I want somewhere for my potted plants.

I quite like skeleton clocks though probably not above the fireplace.

Much better than a TV though. ?

There's this new craze for extremely large Skeleton clocks. All my 3 children have them on their walls - hideous trend, I think , but then I'm an old fogey with old fashioned tastes ?

We have all done something similar, I’m sure.

Did your GD help choose the clock, and was aware of the measurements? I just wonder if you and she see things through different eyes, as large, statement clocks are quite the thing. Are you absolutely sure it is too big? Try looking at it through different eyes.

If you still feel it is no good for anywhere, get GD to help you send it back. No point in having it sitting around unused.

Hope it all works out for you both.

I had some decorating done a few months ago now and my GD and I have different ideas about “finishing off”.
She thinks all my pictures and mirrors are old fashioned and wants to bring me into the current century.
I have vetoed her idea for a large tv on the fireplace wall but reluctantly agreed to a black skeleton clock.
I ordered on line and it arrived this morning.

Oh dear!!
Why did I order without checking the measurements?

It is 45” by 45”

If St Pancras station need a new clock, look no further.
It would look ridiculous on the wall I bought it for but frankly the hassle of sending it back is beyond me.

It is too large for the conservatory and the dining room, still undecorated and presently unused seems the best bet.

Have you ever done similar?
Or are you sensible and check before ordering?
