Give me back my bodyguards: Prince Harry threatens legal action against the government and demands return of police protection because 'it is not safe for the Sussexes to return to UK for visits'

Alegrias1 Mon 17-Jan-22 16:02:10

Where do people find this stuff? ???

I hope you all contributed.

Calistemon Mon 17-Jan-22 15:57:54

Oh dear, what a load of b*ll*x!!!

karmalady Mon 17-Jan-22 15:51:10

Anniebach Mon 17-Jan-22 15:46:32

I only did pony trekking so didn’t need riding lessons ?

Martha48 Mon 17-Jan-22 15:42:15

My next door neighbours - a young couple - are called Hewitt, and they have red-haired twin girls of 2 grin

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 17-Jan-22 15:31:31

I know, thousands wouldn’t … ?

Anniebach Mon 17-Jan-22 15:29:45

I believe you Calistemon and GSM ?

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 17-Jan-22 15:24:10

My son has red hair and I’ve never met James Hewitt either.

Calistemon Mon 17-Jan-22 15:20:48

I'd just like to say, in mitigation, that I have never met James Hewitt!

I do think that Harry looks rather like Queen Alexandra, though, another Royal redhead .

Kathy73 Mon 17-Jan-22 15:17:18

or those who are fairly new to this forum I should have said So if one is new to GN, one cannot express an opinion that differs from yours?

Anniebach Mon 17-Jan-22 15:13:42

Thank you Elegran for those who look for insults where there isn’t one , or those who are fairly new to this forum I
should have said -

Diana is frequently accused of having an affair with a man with
red hair before Harry was born.

This was not true, she did say when he came into her life.

Harry has red hair as do members of the Spencer family.

Kate must be relieved her children don’t have red hair.

William too is a member of the Spencer family.

If they had a child with red hair Kate would probably have been accused of having an affair with a man with red hair.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 17-Jan-22 15:01:27

Ah but they want to go out and about Jaberwok. To show off, maybe appear on the balcony? That’s pretty clear because if they only intended to make a private visit to see family that could be arranged without anyone knowing about it. How many senior politicians and even members of the RF have made trips to see soldiers in war zones with nobody else knowing about it until they were safely back home?

Jaberwok Mon 17-Jan-22 14:56:22

Charles paid for two retired protection officers for Camilla. Harry could do this but apparently he wants serving officers who cannot be hired privately. I don't think his proposed action against the Home Office will get him anywhere. He could of course hire a helicopter to take them from Heathrow to Windsor where they would be under RF protection, and so long as they didn't go out and about on their own and stayed on royal property they would be fine. Perhaps that's too simple a solution.

Actually Elegran saying someone would be “relieved that their children do not have red hair” sounds to me like criticism of red hair - and I’m not generally considered a stupid person, as you suggest

I did read it like that too!
As the mother of a redhead.

But I'm not offended

Calistemon Mon 17-Jan-22 14:50:06

Two Royal lookalikes:

Thank you nadateturbe. Agree with your post totally

Nannina Mon 17-Jan-22 14:22:59

Can’t he have Andrew’s royal protection officers, they don’t seem busy at the moment. At a time when there’s a shortage of police I think there’d be an outcry if officers, paid or not, were assigned to him. What do other American ‘celebrities’ do when they visit?

Are you privy to their thoughts? You seem to imply that Harry and Meghan don’t want to come back in a jubilee year, that it’s got nothing to do with that. How do you know?

I don't think Lucca implied anything. But others seem to know.
I also think some folk are very judgemental. I'm no royalist but I don't see anything wrong with Harry's request. Apparently Camilla had protection of Charles's security staff before she was a member of the RF.

Kate must have been so relieved her three children hasn’t the
Spencer red hair.

Er, excuse me, what’s wrong with red hair?!?!

Excuse me, Kathy73, but who said that there was anything wrtong with red hair?

I and many others have said that Harry has the red hair that several of the Spencers have. If we had said that like many in his family he had blond hair or brown eyes or long legs or a dimple in his chin, you wouldn't have leapt in to accuse us of being offensive, so don't assume that stating this obvious and factual resemblance to Diana's brother, among others, is someone being nasty.

If I were so prejudiced that I went round attacking people for having red hair, I'd spend my life covered in bruises, but merely mentioning that their hair is red is definitely not an attack. Red hair is a hair colour, genetically passed on from one generation to another - or added as a hair dye by those who don't have it but wish they did. It isn't an insult. Making it one is as stupid as believing that saying a queasy person is green is an insult to leprechauns.

Lucca Mon 17-Jan-22 13:52:49

Of course not.

Anniebach Mon 17-Jan-22 13:48:07

I assume ‘bashing’ is ‘criticism’ ? I criticise I do not bash

maddyone Mon 17-Jan-22 13:42:50

Apologies if I misunderstood what you were saying. However I would agree with any posters who feel that Harry and Meghan would like to return for a visit because it is the Queen’s platinum anniversary year. I also think they would like to be involved in the celebrations for that if they possibly can.
I don’t think there’s been non stop bashing, I think people simply perceive Harry and Meghan in a less than favourable light because of their behaviour. You don’t like what you describe as non stop bashing, others dislike the behaviour of Harry and Meghan. Apparently Harry was upset because members of his own family didn’t speak to him whilst he was over for Prince Phillip’s funeral. If true I would say it doesn’t surprise me, it was shortly after the disgraceful Oprah ‘interview.’ Any person who can go on television and trash their own family to the world, whilst their grandfather was dying, is not a person who deserves any respect in my opinion. So if posters feel they want to ‘bash’ Harry’s behaviour they are entitled to do so.

Scooby Doo has apparently now twittered that Charles paid for security for Camilla about 20 years ago. Suddenly he's their mouthpiece again.
