A warm welcome to townmouse.

Grandamabatty, I did have an advantage, concerning the electrician. His aunt is a close friend, I know his parents and he and half of his staff, were taught by my scary teacher SIL.
How could he refuse?.?

A beautiful frosty bright morning in Oxfordshire. Very little to share with you today, DD is enjoying a rare few days with no hospital appointments and pain under control. I know there are other DDs and DiL who are struggling with health problems, I send you and them a big hug. Wishing you all a happy, stress free Thursday!

Morning Mick and all

Sar53 another vote for the coffee shop upstairs in Waterstones, along with the Tiptree shop in Bond Street, we also like the coffee shop on 2nd floor in John Lewis it is very light and airy.

Hello Grannyme6 and townmouse nice to see you

The sky looks blue outside my bedroom window, I am bed bound for the next hour as I have put on a pair of exfoliating bootees I have had a word with myself and hope to stir my stumps…

I must attack Mt. Everest of ironing today if back allows.

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️

Good morning from a dry but cool NE.
Yesterday SIL came to take me shopping and he was clearly unwell, we did the shopping but he refused anything to eat and drink. I told him to go home and rest. He does not have covid, as he does tests all the time.
We have all been under immense stress for the last year and DD is having investigations for a worrying problem so I am not surprised SIL is suffering too.
DS is coming for the day, we usually have a game of Scrabble, he likes to keep my brain active.
GDs will visit after school, always a delight.
More paperwork completed yesterday, what a marathon. I am sure DH thought he was organised but it has still been hard work.
Take care.

Good morning from south Cornwall where it's mild and damp. A good beachcomb yesterday, came home with a pocketful of old china bits. Haircut today plus more painting. Thinking of all with worries about loved ones.

Grandmabatty Thu 20-Jan-22 08:21:32

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -2° and frosty. Thank goodness I don't have to go anywhere. Mick how annoying for you. Definitely phone the nurse for advice as others have said. Welcome to Townhouse. Moving house can be so difficult, can't it? Baubles I nearly did the same! I, too, made a huge pot of bolognaise sauce yesterday as I had mince that needed using. Fortunately I had put it on very low so two and a half hours cooking didn't hurt it. I did, however, leave my electric fire light on all night. Dozy me. Marydoll you are very fortunate in getting hold of an electrician. They're like hen's teeth near me. I want to organise smoke and heat alarms to fall into line with the new regulations in Scotland, but it's very difficult to track an electrician down! I think that it is lovely that Ash and Brook met up. I have a mental picture of how people look and it's probably nothing like the real person at all.
Yesterday I visited mum who was sleeping so a wasted journey. I then nipped into dd with soup and cookies, mainly for sil. Then home to potter. Mum phoned in the afternoon to say that she was sorry she hadn't been up. She suffers from SAD syndrome and is always worse in January. The family have learned to accept that. Today I'm going nowhere so I will potter and do some tidying. The spare room wardrobe is still waiting. Have a good day all.

Good morning. It's almost light now here in North Wales so need to crack on.

I met a very friendly dog on my walk yesterday. He jumped up several times covering me in muddy paw marks. Trousers and coat were straight into the washing machine when I got home. I forgave him as he was very cute but not quite as happy with the owner.

Welcome to townmouse.

Hope everyone has a pleasant day and hope all with illness or worries find some ☀️

Grannyme6 Thu 20-Jan-22 08:12:32

Gingster and Sar Meant to say I agree the little place near Lakeland is also good.

Grannyme6 Thu 20-Jan-22 08:10:20

Morning all and especially the Essex Grans. Gingster when I go to Chelmsford I usually take a break in the coffee shop in Waterstone’s. Or if I’m meeting up with a friend, the Tiptree Tea Room in Bond Street is rather nice.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Grandmajean Thu 20-Jan-22 08:08:36

What an awkward situation for you all Marydoll. You poor DiL must be walking on eggshells.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 20-Jan-22 08:04:58

Good morning all from dark chilly Harrogate
This morning my Sainsburies shopping arriving. Hope I’ve ordered what I need!! After that a bit of housework.
This evening it’s zoom time with my sisters.
Sorry your ear is still giving you problems Mick maybe as suggested. A trip to the practice nurse would sort it.
Hope Mr PG’s appointment goes well in Bangor. And that everyone else who is ailing feels better soon
Have the best day you can folks

Urmstongran Thu 20-Jan-22 08:03:17

Hi to you townmouse ?
I love living in the town centre after we downsized 12 years ago. Remember, you take all your memories with you. There will always be books to read. And anything you’re getting rid of that tugs at your heartstrings - whether it’s a piece of furniture or a favourite view from a window - take photos.

baubles Thu 20-Jan-22 08:02:58

Good morning Mick, morning all from chilly South Lanarkshire

It’s years since I burned a dinner but I managed to do just that last night. I was cooking a huge pot of bolognese sauce, some to take with me to feed DS’s family today, some for us and a couple of portions for the freezer, it was simmering away nicely when I went to sit down to watch tv. A couple of hours later I suddenly realised I’d forgotten about it, dashed into the kitchen and found the whole thing dried up and burned onto to my favourite pot which is now steeping in the sink.

I blame the fact that my sense of smell hasn’t yet returned, if the normal cooking aroma had reached me I wouldn’t have forgotten about it. The most annoying thing, apart from the waste of time, effort and food, is that DH had been in the kitchen twice, had thought there was an odd smell so had opened the window. It seemingly didn’t occur to him to mention it to me!

Anyhoo, I’ll have to make a detour to M&S on our way to pick up the GC for our usual childminding day or there will be no meal for anyone this evening.

Welcome townmouse. ?

Best wishes to everyone with worries of one sort or another. Have the best day possible. ?

Marydoll Thu 20-Jan-22 08:02:05

Good morning all from a frosty Glasgow, its -2°C here.

Mick, I too echo the advice of either checking with your GP surgery or your local pharmacy, it's in such an awkward spot.
If it was me, I would just purchase some dressings and tape. I had to do that after my wrist op.

We had an unexpected, but pleasant surprise yesterday. I had contacted the electrician, who worked on the electrics in our extension, to see if our smoke alarms would be compliant with the new law, but he was snowed under, so I wasn't expecting him.
Our central light in the lounge is also not working. Confirming that it was the transformer which had gone, he advised that we needed a new light. I said that we had bought one and he offered to install it on the spot! MrMD, as usual, misheard and said it wasn't urgent and we that were happy to wait! No! The royal we were not at all happy.
Much to the electrician's amusement, I was gesticulating behind DH's, that he was deaf and basically to ignore him.
The light has been installed, regardless of MrMDoll's interference.
Oh, such joy, I hadn't realised how I had missed it.
I have also managed to get the electrician to quote for work for DS2. A successful day all round!

I'm expecting a visit from DIL today, their washing machine is broken. The last time it happened, she let it build up and brought two black bags full. I suspect I will be busy. ?
Things are difficult with her mother, our neighbour, who never offers to help, but doesn't like us helping either. DIL knows her mother will be at her sister's today, so will pop down
I feel so hurt for DI, who is often in tears, because of their behaviour.

Sending best wishes for all in sick bay and praying that today brings progress and improvement. For those with mountains to climb, I hope you find the strength to deal with what life throws at you.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Lins, thinking of you today.x

Good morning from Shropshire.

Awaiting the arrival of the hurricane.DD is bringing him today which is a good sign as SIL has brought him the last couple of weeks.School pick up later.

DD2 gave us a bag of B’s outgrown clothes for Henry including a puddle suit and wellies so today DH has decided they will wash the car?Henry let loose with the hosepipe doesn’t bear thinking about?

Thinking of all with worries about family members and all unwell themselves?

Take care all and stay safe??

Scentia Thu 20-Jan-22 07:54:03

townmouse welcome.
Try to think of all the positives of living in a town, I moved from a village to a town 7 years ago and I have EVERYTHING I need in walking distance now, never mind the weather I can get out and do what I need to do. As we get older it is better to be nearer to medical facilities and in a village you are so far away from those things.

townmouse Thu 20-Jan-22 07:49:47

Good morning , I’m new on here, touched by your warmth and kind words. I’m about to move after 26 years of village life downsizing to a little terrace in Cheltenham. DH and grown up DD and me. Feels very much like the party’s over. Another day of packing ahead, don’t mind the practical side of the move but worry about the decision to move in the first place. Bit like looking forward to a holiday and then stressing when it comes round but more significant cos it’s for keeps. Hope today is kind to all.

Beauregard Thu 20-Jan-22 07:48:36

Good morning from a frosty Derbyshire. I'm deliberating whether to go to the supermarket this morning. It will mean de-icing the car, which I was trying to avoid, but I am out of milk so that will probably decide me!

We had a lovely time with our youngest grandson yesterday. DS told us his news that he has been offered a permanent position in the business following his apprenticeship. We're so happy for him.

I'm out for coffee with my friend later. She's been such a support to me over the last few months when I've poured my heart out over my crumbling relationship with my DD. A wonderful, understanding friend.

Thinking of you and your family today Lins ?

Have a good day everyone.

dragonfly46 Thu 20-Jan-22 07:47:44

Good morning from almost light Leicestershire.

Had a long chat last night with DS about their imminent visit.
Tai Chi this morning then picking our new car up this afternoon.

I do hope all those worried about their AC have a better day today.

brook2704 Thu 20-Jan-22 07:47:11

Good morning everyone from Devon where it’s forecast to be another dry day.
It was really lovely to meet Ash yesterday as we were walking so close by. What a lovely lady and we thoroughly enjoyed our time together. It’s our last day today so a slightly slower day, we’ll soon be putting our walking boots away for a while
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
