Good morning Mick you’re up bright and early today, it’s a pain having a dressing on your ear as they usually fall off, maybe a trip into Boots and ask the Pharmacist for a replacement? Have a good day.
Dark and frosty here in Oxfordshire today, we helped MissOops clean the old house yesterday so today I must sit down and do some sewing, it’s been looking at me for ages. I used to love to sew, but recently I can’t work up any enthusiasm at all, after 50 yrs maybe I’ve just had enough?
Have a good day everyone, thoughts are with all who have worries.

Pantglas2 Thu 20-Jan-22 06:09:20

Morning Mick and all to follow - here we are up at sparrowfart in north Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 ready to trot to Bangor where minor op awaits Mr PG and I’ll have to whizz around TKMaxx while waiting....the things I tolerate, eh 😇

Best wishes to DDs and DILs and their mums - Susan56 Chrissielou Ashcombe and anyone else with health worries at the moment 💐

Will catch up with your doings later x

Urmstongran Thu 20-Jan-22 06:21:46

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga. It’s pitch black as I’m up so early. We don’t have plans for today particularly. Our friends from Bolton fly home tomorrow and we’re meeting them late afternoon for a drink downstairs.

No surprise about your dressing I suppose Mick as you’ll be sleeping on it thereby rubbing it on your pillow. I’d ring your practice nurse this morning see what she says. Another here thinking of all the anxious mums on this thread whose adult children have health concerns. May you all get some good news soon to lighten your load. x

Ashcombe Thu 20-Jan-22 06:28:20

Good morning Mick and all who follow from a chilly Torbay.

Yesterday started with a last minute plan to meet up with brook2704 and her DH for coffee at a café on Babbacombe Downs where we enjoyed over an hour of interesting chat. It was lovely to meet them before they started the continuation of their walk along the SW Coastal Path.

In the afternoon at Wednesday Club, we were enthralled by a talk about the first murder on a railway train. It provoked the sharing of stories of experiences on corridor free trains from our youth! Later I was a steward for an unusually dark Ayckbourn play which was very well performed by the three ufemale actors. A convivial session in the bar rounded off a busy day.

Thank you for the support regarding DD1 who is about the same today. Her ECG result was normal which is usual in such cases, according to her GP. I hope you can have help with your dressing today, Mick.

A very apt cartoon, Urmstongran! Good luck to Mr. Pantglass2 today and to all who face challenges. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from a moonlit E Kent. This “wolf” moon seems to be brighter than usual. Perhaps it’s because it’s so dark.
We went to Lidl yesterday and I bought one of their vegetable boxes. My word, it’s good value! We’ve enough apples for the rest of the month, lovely sprouts, a plethora of baby carrots…. I made a sort of dish finishing off the chicken, with these vegetables and some onion in a tomato-ey bechamel with cheese on top. DH loved it - just as well as there’s enough for tonight. I also made a tarte aux pommes with some of the eating apples.
Got Spanish this morning an£ am giving blood (if they’ll have it) this afternoon.

Keep wel, keep happy. Carpe diem… 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a cold 🥶 and frosty Essex by the sea.
DH has done something to his jaw and couldn't eat his dinner last night, will see how it is today.
We are off on a mercy mission to Chelmsford today, to take two dive watches to be updated, for his daughter and SIL before they go away on Sunday. Hopefully we will get the chance to look round the shops and stop for coffee somewhere. Enjoy Thursday and have the best day you can everyone xx

Gagagran Thu 20-Jan-22 06:46:32

Good Morning everyone from a cold, dry and still moonlit south coast. It has been a Wolf moon, I read, and it is a thing of beauty.

Sorry that your ear is still giving you problems Mick and I think Urms' idea of trying the surgery nurse is a good one. You don't want to be frightening the horses with a bloody ear do you? grin

DH is scheduled for a check up phone call from the colo-rectal nurse today so we will see what she has to tell him. The treatment he has had from the hospital staff has been second to none but the same cannot be said from the GP surgery with no follow up whatsoever unless instigated by moi! This despite a 2" thick file of letters copied to them throughout his two years of treatment.

Hope all those with busy days ahead find them successful and that we all have the best day we can. [sunshine}

Scentia Thu 20-Jan-22 06:47:17

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is still dark and very frosty 🥶
I have been sleeping so well lately i actually set my alarm today to make sure I was up in time to sort the car seats out and do the Guinea Pigs before work. I will pick DGC up from nursery then off to gymnastics then this evening I am going to sort through my mountain of clothes and put some in a donation bag, I can’t find anything in my wardrobe as it is so full so end up wearing the same few outfits all the time!!
Take care everyone and stay safe and upright. My thoughts are with anyone who is struggling today❤️

cornergran Thu 20-Jan-22 07:13:47

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark corner of Somerset. Mr C says it’s not frosty, I’ve not looked yet.

Day at home yesterday filled with routine tasks and two long phone calls. Our son worried about his daughters and our goddaughter frantic about her Mum, her own health and that of her husband. Can’t help improve either situation but can listen. Good advice to ask your surgery nurse to dress your ear mick, hope it heals soon.

Off out for breakfast this morning and a wander wherever the impulse takes us. I’m so sorry so many have worries about family, my good wishes to all and everyone struggling with life. Hope Thursday is kind to us all.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 20-Jan-22 07:18:42

Good morning everyone from East Yorkshire. Alexa says it is 1degree. It doesn’t appear to be icy which I’m pleased about.

Today I’m going to my rearranged coffee morning. I think there may only be a couple of us. After that I have a couple of hours spare before GS comes after school.

Love Matts cartoon today * Urms* thank you for posting

How lovely to meet up with Brook on there walk Ash

Thinking of the mums with worries over DDs and DIL at the moment.

Take care everyone.

Beechnut Thu 20-Jan-22 07:34:13

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s a frosty one. The apricot glow is lightening the sky showing off the dark silhouette of the trees with a lone star. It’s a beautiful sight I always think.

Today I’ll potter and try to find my marbles 😀 I’d like to use them in a fun bathroom display I have.

I’ll go back and read everyone’s news but I did see Ash met Brook. I wondered if you might manage to do that.

Good wishes to all 💐❄️

Gingster Thu 20-Jan-22 07:39:52

Good morning and yes it’s frosty here in Essex AGAIN!,
Grrrr!
I hate having to defrost the car before the school run. I might get Rip Van Winkle out of bed to help . By the time he’s up and dressed, I would have done it myself. No urgency with DH, I’m afraid 😬

Bowls club this morning and art class this afternoon, so a therapeutic day for me. 🎱🧑‍🎨.

Sorry about your ear dressing Mick . It isn’t an easy place to dress. Annoying for you.

Scentia that weighted blanket is certainly working for you. 👍

Sar I hope you find a nice coffee shop. When I went to Chelmsford before Christmas, our usual lunch place had closed and we struggled to find anywhere to eat. My friend told me yesterday, there’s a nice cafe opposite Lakeland. Maybe you could have a look.

Love and best wishes to all. 🙏

kittylester Thu 20-Jan-22 07:46:04

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

A pootling and faffing day for ne today - I never quite manage get to the end of my list.

brook2704 Thu 20-Jan-22 07:47:11

Good morning everyone from Devon where it’s forecast to be another dry day.
It was really lovely to meet Ash yesterday as we were walking so close by. What a lovely lady and we thoroughly enjoyed our time together. It’s our last day today so a slightly slower day, we’ll soon be putting our walking boots away for a while
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

dragonfly46 Thu 20-Jan-22 07:47:44

Good morning from almost light Leicestershire.

Had a long chat last night with DS about their imminent visit.
Tai Chi this morning then picking our new car up this afternoon.

I do hope all those worried about their AC have a better day today.

Beauregard Thu 20-Jan-22 07:48:36

Good morning from a frosty Derbyshire. I'm deliberating whether to go to the supermarket this morning. It will mean de-icing the car, which I was trying to avoid, but I am out of milk so that will probably decide me!

We had a lovely time with our youngest grandson yesterday. DS told us his news that he has been offered a permanent position in the business following his apprenticeship. We're so happy for him.

I'm out for coffee with my friend later. She's been such a support to me over the last few months when I've poured my heart out over my crumbling relationship with my DD. A wonderful, understanding friend.

Thinking of you and your family today Lins 👶

Have a good day everyone.

townmouse Thu 20-Jan-22 07:49:47

Good morning , I’m new on here, touched by your warmth and kind words. I’m about to move after 26 years of village life downsizing to a little terrace in Cheltenham. DH and grown up DD and me. Feels very much like the party’s over. Another day of packing ahead, don’t mind the practical side of the move but worry about the decision to move in the first place. Bit like looking forward to a holiday and then stressing when it comes round but more significant cos it’s for keeps. Hope today is kind to all.

Scentia Thu 20-Jan-22 07:54:03

townmouse welcome.
Try to think of all the positives of living in a town, I moved from a village to a town 7 years ago and I have EVERYTHING I need in walking distance now, never mind the weather I can get out and do what I need to do. As we get older it is better to be nearer to medical facilities and in a village you are so far away from those things.

Susan56 Thu 20-Jan-22 07:58:50

Good morning from Shropshire.

Awaiting the arrival of the hurricane.DD is bringing him today which is a good sign as SIL has brought him the last couple of weeks.School pick up later.

DD2 gave us a bag of B’s outgrown clothes for Henry including a puddle suit and wellies so today DH has decided they will wash the car🙈Henry let loose with the hosepipe doesn’t bear thinking about🤣

Thinking of all with worries about family members and all unwell themselves💐

Take care all and stay safe🌻🦩

Susan56 Thu 20-Jan-22 08:00:27

Lins, thinking of you today.x

Marydoll Thu 20-Jan-22 08:02:05

Good morning all from a frosty Glasgow, its -2°C here.

Mick, I too echo the advice of either checking with your GP surgery or your local pharmacy, it's in such an awkward spot.
If it was me, I would just purchase some dressings and tape. I had to do that after my wrist op.

We had an unexpected, but pleasant surprise yesterday. I had contacted the electrician, who worked on the electrics in our extension, to see if our smoke alarms would be compliant with the new law, but he was snowed under, so I wasn't expecting him.
Our central light in the lounge is also not working. Confirming that it was the transformer which had gone, he advised that we needed a new light. I said that we had bought one and he offered to install it on the spot! MrMD, as usual, misheard and said it wasn't urgent and we that were happy to wait! No! The royal we were not at all happy.
Much to the electrician's amusement, I was gesticulating behind DH's, that he was deaf and basically to ignore him.
The light has been installed, regardless of MrMDoll's interference.
Oh, such joy, I hadn't realised how I had missed it.
I have also managed to get the electrician to quote for work for DS2. A successful day all round!

I'm expecting a visit from DIL today, their washing machine is broken. The last time it happened, she let it build up and brought two black bags full. I suspect I will be busy. 😉
Things are difficult with her mother, our neighbour, who never offers to help, but doesn't like us helping either. DIL knows her mother will be at her sister's today, so will pop down
I feel so hurt for DI, who is often in tears, because of their behaviour.

Sending best wishes for all in sick bay and praying that today brings progress and improvement. For those with mountains to climb, I hope you find the strength to deal with what life throws at you.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning Mick, morning all from chilly South Lanarkshire

It’s years since I burned a dinner but I managed to do just that last night. I was cooking a huge pot of bolognese sauce, some to take with me to feed DS’s family today, some for us and a couple of portions for the freezer, it was simmering away nicely when I went to sit down to watch tv. A couple of hours later I suddenly realised I’d forgotten about it, dashed into the kitchen and found the whole thing dried up and burned onto to my favourite pot which is now steeping in the sink.

I blame the fact that my sense of smell hasn’t yet returned, if the normal cooking aroma had reached me I wouldn’t have forgotten about it. The most annoying thing, apart from the waste of time, effort and food, is that DH had been in the kitchen twice, had thought there was an odd smell so had opened the window. It seemingly didn’t occur to him to mention it to me!

Anyhoo, I’ll have to make a detour to M&S on our way to pick up the GC for our usual childminding day or there will be no meal for anyone this evening.

Welcome townmouse. 👋

Best wishes to everyone with worries of one sort or another. Have the best day possible. 🦩

Urmstongran Thu 20-Jan-22 08:03:17

Hi to you townmouse 👋
I love living in the town centre after we downsized 12 years ago. Remember, you take all your memories with you. There will always be books to read. And anything you’re getting rid of that tugs at your heartstrings - whether it’s a piece of furniture or a favourite view from a window - take photos.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 20-Jan-22 08:04:58

Good morning all from dark chilly Harrogate
This morning my Sainsburies shopping arriving. Hope I’ve ordered what I need!! After that a bit of housework.
This evening it’s zoom time with my sisters.
Sorry your ear is still giving you problems Mick maybe as suggested. A trip to the practice nurse would sort it.
Hope Mr PG’s appointment goes well in Bangor. And that everyone else who is ailing feels better soon
Have the best day you can folks
