Been discussed before, I know, but in the DT today, it seems that support for this to be the Duchess of Cornwall’s title in the fullness of time is ever more likely.

I, for one, would be pleased to see this happen. Princess Consort would be a silly title for the wife of the King.

I have never thought Charles will allow his beloved wife to hold an inferior title.

Esspee
I agree with you.

I do feel that the recent statements from the Queen hint that she may be preparing to step back by abdicating in an effort to support Charles as he is unpopular with the masses.

A woman who was the cause of the break up of a family, especially one with young children, and the man who was equally to blame would never be socially acceptable to me.
Most people I know feel the same way.
While I have huge respect for the Queen I feel when she goes the Royal Family will, sooner or later, be history.

Who ?

Nicegranny Thu 10-Feb-22 11:46:06

Perhaps they don’t feel very important and it makes them feel big.

Not being argumentative, I do have doubts about claims in
documentaries so check some of the claims.

Thank you Pammie they married in 2005 so nearly 17 years,
i can’t work out the 20 years , they were speaking at the time of
the marriage, Diana had died 8 years before that, the Queen wouldn’t have cause to be in Camilla’s company for the 20 years surely

Pammie1 Wed 09-Feb-22 19:53:42

Anniebach

Which 20 years ?

Not sure how long ago - didn’t even know about it until I watched a documentary on Sunday night. Charles and Camilla have been married around 15 years so obviously would have been before this.

Well however long the Queen didn’t speak to Camilla is none of my business. Posters on GN lament estrangement from family members, never mind non-family members so HM and Camilla have done well to sort it out.

Er…….. I did say that the rift now seemed to be healed, so why the attitude ?

Mollygo Wed 09-Feb-22 19:44:53

Do you mean bullying by saying nasty things?
If you were told you couldn’t post that might be bullying. If people don’t like what you post that’s an opinion- even if it’s the opposite of yours.

Nicegranny Wed 09-Feb-22 19:23:33

Why do people bully others?

Why do people bully other people for having a difference of opinion?
Does anyone know?
Does this thread actually belong to anyone personally and only specially chosen can post ?

Anniebach Wed 09-Feb-22 18:48:28

Which 20 years ?

Pammie1 Wed 09-Feb-22 18:44:44

Camilla wasn't deemed suitable then. It appears she is now.

The Queen didn’t speak to Camilla for over 20 years - not sure of the details but it would seem the rift has been healed with time.

If Queen is to be in the title then why not just Queen?
It won't affect the rest of us plebs one little bit.
Do we really care what she did all those years ago? Do we care what they get up to and do they care about what we think? I doubt it.
There are far more dangerous things in this world, Covid and the ever-growing number of Russian troops on the Ukrainian border.

I agree there are more important things going on right now, but to answer your question, the Queen Consort title is to denote that they are married to the reigning monarch - they are not the reigning monarch themselves. The title ‘King Consort’ is not used as the title of “King’ is only given to a male royal who inherits the throne. If the reigning monarch passes away before the ‘Consort’ then the throne is inherited by the first born child.

Nicegranny Wed 09-Feb-22 18:37:10

Oh dear I have the mistress’s of king Edward mixed up. Silly old me ?

Anniebach Wed 09-Feb-22 18:34:45

So who did Diana inherit her genes from ?

Nicegranny Wed 09-Feb-22 18:25:55

Facts read history !

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 09-Feb-22 18:21:30

I have read several books about Edward VII. Nowhere does it say that Alice Keppel was a prostitute. She was a respectable married woman from an aristocratic family.

Kali2 Wed 09-Feb-22 18:19:10

Shw wasn't- she was a victim of that system, all 3 were, very sad.

I certainly don’t agree that Diana was despicable
