Been discussed before, I know, but in the DT today, it seems that support for this to be the Duchess of Cornwall’s title in the fullness of time is ever more likely.

I, for one, would be pleased to see this happen. Princess Consort would be a silly title for the wife of the King.

I have never thought Charles will allow his beloved wife to hold an inferior title.

I think the Queen (who I respect, despite being a republican) has yet again put her feelings for her children ahead of reading the feelings of the country. Most people are not in favour of this for Camilla.

I can only imagine how Harry must be feeling right now. Just as well he's well out of it and has someone for support with him.

He wasn’t married to a king

Why wasn’t Prince Phillip King Consort? Or at least Prince Consort?

I would personally prefer if the next king and queen were William and Kate

Oh dear. The royal correspondent on the Channel 4 news just said "3 in the bed" instead of "3 in the marriage" meaning Charles, Diana and Camilla!! shock

I dare say the royal correspondent on Channel 4 news was just saying what he really wanted to say. Wooden spoon award awaits.

‘She seems to have no shame’ notgran? This is the 21st century. Should she be banished to a convent?
I think she’s been very good and supportive for Prince Charles and as Fanny says, seems a good egg.

Definitely "hie thee to a nunnery " GSM smile

There has never been any evidence that Charles and Camilla wanted to marry when young, they dated then went their own
ways, no different to Anne dating Andrew Parker Bowls

Maybe Queenie is just making amends for not allowing Charles to get together with Camilla in the first place. Times were very different when Prince Charles was pushed into marrying Diana to ensure the line of succession. Camilla seems to have been a force for good and a nice person to boot.

oooops

Why wasn't Prince Philip even Prince Consort? Albert was do why not Philip? That must have rankled a bit.

I want her to be Queen Camilla and do away with all this stupid consort rubbish.

Judging how well the Queen is looking, It will not be forthcoming for a while.

Judy54 Sun 06-Feb-22 15:24:51

A right and proper outcome. Her Majesty has timed it perfectly.

Sexism?!

If it was something newly set up now, yes. In the past it was tradition or just the way things were set out. (Yes it was probably set out that way by men, but it’s history)

lemsip Sun 06-Feb-22 10:51:55

The Queen would have been advised that this had to be done! whatever she would have wished on a personal level.
..................................................................................

One poster said she'd listened to this being discussed on LBC
and there were 'some rather strange people with some rather strange opinions about this.'......
Please note; peoples opinions are not strange because they differ from yours!

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 06-Feb-22 10:32:35

I don’t think so.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 06-Feb-22 10:31:49

They couldn’t be king because a king has higher status than a Queen.

Aveline Sun 06-Feb-22 10:29:45

Why was Prince Albert only the 'Prince Consort' and Prince Philip not even that? Is calling Camilla Queen consort some sort of reverse sexism?!

Aveline Sun 06-Feb-22 10:25:38

I'm not keen on this however, if it's the Queen's wish then so be it. I won't ever feel the same way about Camilla and Charles as I do about the Queen. I hope William and Katherine have time with their children before they have to step up.

henetha Sun 06-Feb-22 10:19:24

Same here. I like Camilla immensely and think she will be a good Queen consort, right by Charles' side like she should be.
I am so glad the Queen did this.

Mapleleaf Sun 06-Feb-22 10:15:19

I am pleased at this outcome. It’s the right thing to do.
