Been discussed before, I know, but in the DT today, it seems that support for this to be the Duchess of Cornwall’s title in the fullness of time is ever more likely.

I, for one, would be pleased to see this happen. Princess Consort would be a silly title for the wife of the King.

I have never thought Charles will allow his beloved wife to hold an inferior title.

I can’t imagine how you don’t think your words were offensive. And GN obviously disagree with you because they’ve deleted your nasty post. You can’t simply speak as you wish on here.

Nicegranny Tue 25-Jan-22 16:04:40

I speak as l wish and I don’t believe it’s offensive.

Your opinion can be expressed without resorting to language like that.

Nicegranny Tue 25-Jan-22 16:01:42

? GSmum.
It’s my opinion of a woman that tormented a beautiful young lady with her expert seducing skills.
Nothing to do with a name.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 25-Jan-22 15:58:02

What a horrible thing to say Nicegranny. Your username certainly doesn’t suit you.

sodapop Tue 25-Jan-22 15:57:34

Unnecessary and harsh Nicegranny

Alegrias1 Tue 25-Jan-22 15:55:45

Can I ask a completely off-piste question?

When did the monarch become "our Queen"? Isn't she just "the Queen"?

One might think it was an overabundance of sentiment...

I’d love it to happen! She has proved her worthiness ever since she and Charles married. It’s just sad that they were not allowed to marry when young. Her children won’t mind calling Mummy, Your Maj!

I really don’t understand why some have a thing about ‘posh people ‘ and ‘class’

I’m a Royalist but agree with how the RF are slimming down The Firm.

I’m gearing up to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. Maybe we will have a special royal Cream Tea in our garden with bunting all around. ??????

I wouldn’t like to live in. Republican country.

It’s also fine that those who don’t like the RF need not join in any celebrations, that’s up to them.

Absolutely.

I agree Harmonypuss well said.

netflixfan Tue 25-Jan-22 10:20:54

harmony puss I agree. I think the monarchy contributes to the attitude “oh well they are better than us, and we know our place.” And respect for posh people whether they deserve it or not

Mollygo Tue 25-Jan-22 08:54:24

Icanhandthemback you’re right about watching their parents’ behaviour. Seeing news about your mum’s death, when she was off on a trip with Dodi rehashed time and again must have been horrific.
I don’t care whether Camilla is given Queen Consort title or not. She’ll be whatever the media decide to call her, rather than what any of us think.

Newquay Tue 25-Jan-22 03:19:42

Oh Harmony puss well said!

FannyCornforth Tue 25-Jan-22 03:04:16

Harmonypuss we have that discussion quite often.
There are loads of republicans on here

Lorelei Tue 25-Jan-22 03:03:48

I agree with those who say Camilla should rightly be entitled to Queen Consort - personally I think she has quietly gone about supporting her husband and his family, as well as numerous charities and good causes, and has earned respect. I wouldn't be surprised if Charles wanted her to be crowned Queen but don't know if that is even an option! It is obvious Charles & Camilla make each other happy, that she is there to support her husband through whatever the future holds for them and Camilla has often been at the Queen's side for events so has a pretty good idea what may be expected of her when her husband is King. In a world with so many problems the title of our future King's wife is not high on the list of things to worry about!

Doubt Camilla gets time in her busy schedule to stick her feet up on a fancy sofa with a fancy cuppa to have a flick through Gransnet to see she now has more favourable reviews!

I've got my tin hat on already because I know my opinion won't be popular but here goes...
I'd much rather we completely ditched the monarchy altogether.
Many say they attract £millions to British businesses but in pretty sure we'd still get that without them and it would save us £millions that the family cost us every year.
Said my piece now, I'm not hiding behind the sofa, quite willing to sit and watch what happens from hereon out.

Charles should abdicate in favour if William. This reminds me of the argument that pensioners should get out of the workplace to make room for the younger people.

... and then there are those that argue pensioners should 'get back into the workplace' - Vince Cable, recently.

Seems like you can't win when you get old - you are either surplus to requirements on the one hand when you do work, and a drain on society when you don't.

I think Charles should be allowed his 'turn'.

Anniebach Mon 24-Jan-22 21:09:25

The Queen should have abdicated when she was 65 ?
