Been discussed before, I know, but in the DT today, it seems that support for this to be the Duchess of Cornwall’s title in the fullness of time is ever more likely.

I, for one, would be pleased to see this happen. Princess Consort would be a silly title for the wife of the King.

I have never thought Charles will allow his beloved wife to hold an inferior title.

I remember Norman St John Stevas Rosina.

He was wheeled out whenever a discrepancy on royal or similar matters was raised. I can picture him now…..

I always wondered if people pronounced his name incorrectly, and if it annoyed him.

hmm

Rosina
Apologies thanks
As you correctly detected, I was being a grumpy bint

I like your turn of phrase, very apt!

'position' ...terrible typist.

Rosina Sat 22-Jan-22 23:13:20

Er...FannyCornforth the quotation I posted is one I do remember, made by a person I remember (I asked if anyone else did) on TV, at a time when the succession was being discussed, and as an expert on the British Constitution and Monarchy , Norman St. John Stevas said that the wife of a King is always the Queen. Had I not remembered any details of this incident I wouldn't have been in a postiion to quote any of it......are you feeling allright this evening?

I believe Diana only had her affairs after she realised how she had been used. She picked herself up, glammed up and said I'm here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

that is my opinion too.

The Queen has been exemplary in her role but when she is gone I wish it would all end. I never thought I'd say it, but I've had enough of the royals. I genuinely don't know what the monarchy achieves in modern society.

Camilla for Queen ?

sodapop Sat 22-Jan-22 21:42:29

Agree GillT57 Camilla has proved to be an excellent wife for Charles and will be an equally good partner whatever her title when he comes to the throne.

GillT57 Sat 22-Jan-22 20:53:58

Do the same people who are upset at the thought of an adulterer and the woman who was his mistress being king and queen feel the same about our present PM moving his pregnant fiancee, previously mistress, into no 10 I wonder? For the record, I think Camilla has behaved with dignity and discretion and hasn't put a foot wrong since they married.

Anniebach Sat 22-Jan-22 20:43:23

It’s understandable that women whose husband had an affair
feel anger for a woman who had an affair but why is Diana never criticised for several affairs?

And there is no evidence that Charles was in a relationship with
Camilla when he married, only Diana’s allegations.

Redhead56 Sat 22-Jan-22 20:06:29

Kate1949 I totally agree with you having been married to a philandering rat myself who lived a double life. I think the best thing C&C can do is join H&M in the USA.

For all their faults, I would rather have King Charles and Queen Camilla than President Boris.

Jaberwok Sat 22-Jan-22 19:21:13

Charles and Camilla first met in 1970 at a polo match! They broke things up when Charles went to sea. Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973. The wife of the king is always the Queen, Queen Mary, Queen Alexandra, further back Queen Adelaide, Queen Charlotte, Queen Caroline, Henrietta Maria and so on way back to the middle ages and beyond. The one exception was Dutch William and Mary, extenuating circumstances dictated this deviation . There is no reason why Camilla cannot be titled Queen, nor should there be. Adultery is not a reason to deny this title or that of King. Most monarchs had mistresses, most notably in modern times Edward V11th who actually made an excellent king.

Chardy

When the Queen dies, I hope the Royal Family will just become a thing of the past.
I never used to be a Republican, I love history and tradition, but in the last few years, they've done nothing to make me think they're worth keeping. I don't think the individuals are representative of their generations or even their parents' generation - they are all so old-fashioned.
The whole system is antiquated, and should go, imo.

Agree

I have responded to posts about Diana sorry

Mollygo Sat 22-Jan-22 18:24:17

I hope all the divorced people on here aren’t feeling they have no right to be happy again.
As Lucca reminded me before when I answered a post about Harry, this thread is just about what Camilla should be called, so presumably not about Diana either.

Anniebach Sat 22-Jan-22 18:07:07

Does anyone know when Charles and Camilla started their affair ?

M0nica Sat 22-Jan-22 17:49:17

*wicklowinnie because she was young and naive and faced with all the preparations that had been made, lacked the courage to withdraw. I beleieve she may have discussed it with her sisters and they just blamed it on wedding nerves.

Sweetpeasue Sat 22-Jan-22 17:45:36

'people like that' were stoned at one time.

Nanan2 if women’ who have affairs are ‘no better than they
Should be’, you are also speaking of Diana
