Today, I will have a early lunch , as I attuned my surgery to get my stitches removed by one of the practice nurses around mid day .
Return and watch TV.
Take Care,

Thank you Urmstongran, I didn't realise it was Thursday's thread, must be getting confused with all the prep.
It will be more work than holiday, but still enjoyable, I hope!

Urmstongran Fri 28-Jan-22 10:48:50

This is the Thursday thread! ?

Urmstongran Fri 28-Jan-22 10:46:41

Enjoy your holiday marydonoz ?

Good morning all from a bright and crisp central Herts.
Am just writing a short post as need to pack bags again.
We are off to Turkey at the weekend on a one way ticket as we're not sure of our return date.
I will not be posting while I'm there so wishing all good days until back here again.
Hopefully the weather will be a little warmer and days slightly longer which already are becoming noticeable.

Just had a chance to look at the posts and Ginster I became diabetic a couple of years ago, but I control it with metformin tablets , no injections . (as a needle phobic an extra reason to stick to the diet!) Does your DH know that the test they take show sort of long term diets, so sadly you cannot cheat by just cutting down a few days before. They will still be able to tell !! I dont like milk chocolate but really like very dark chocolate, I keep some in the house as I find when I just feel desperate for a bit of sweetness a very small piece of the dark which is actually better for you, seems to retain the flavour longer and I find it is better than denying myself , as I find that I am eating more bits and pieces avoiding the chocolate. With all the problems with covid situation, and bad back etc my greatest help , which is going for a walk or to the library or doing some singing practise, has not been possible and I definitely find myself want to eat more sweet stuff . Fortunately I have always been a great reader and find that I do better on a bad day to go to bed early and read. Saves on fuel and with a bad back it is too much effort and pain to go to the kitchen to get anything, so method in my madness!

Oooh thanks Grandmabatty. Going late after the teatime rush.

Grandmabatty Thu 27-Jan-22 12:20:43

Feelingmyage I've bought five storage boxes from the middle aisle! £2.99 each with lids.

Marydoll Thu 27-Jan-22 12:11:41

Borrheid, I was thinking about you and your mum, when I posted. I wondered how you were doing.

I do hope you can make it and we can see each other!

Borrheid55 Thu 27-Jan-22 12:03:20

Sounds like my mum Mary! Just had an invite to her 90th birthday celebrations in March.
Haven’t posted on GN for a while but I do read posts every day. I’m hoping to get to Scotland and hopefully Jerez. Given my panic attacks last time I set off travelling, hope springs eternal that I will make it. Still unsure about mixing with people. I’m fully jabbed so should be ok.
Longing for better weather, it’s been so damp and grey for so long in Kent.
Have a good day everyone!

Good morning all, bright and sunny here but not feeling too chilly as there’s no wind at the moment. I’d planned to put some washing out to at least start it drying in the sun only to find that a neighbour has been having a bonfire and the air still reeks of it.
I’ve no idea what our outside temperatures are doing at the moment as the new indoor/outdoor one we bought to replace the old seems to be determined not to give up its outdoor temperatures. Three of us have had a go at it and I might give it one more try before ordering another. Prices seem to have rocketed in the last year.
Now to have a proper read and catch up with everyone. Best wishes to all with ill health themselves or in the family. Only skimmed so far so will just wish Mick good luck with his stitches being taken out. I’m sure it will be a lot more comfortable afterwards.

Good morning from a sunny north of Scotland after a very stormy night. Someone’s wheelie bin had obviously blown over and was clattering about.
Pleased to hear Ashcombe’s daughter has turned a corner and about lin’s new grandchild.
I am off to Aldi to peruse the aisle of wonder as I need/want some storage boxes, I will have to walk past the chocolate and I suspect some might fall into my trolley.
I binge watched “Hidden Assets” on BBC1. I highly recommend it. Filmed in Ireland and Antwerp. Best thing I’ve seen in a while.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning gransnetters from Suet on Sea, northwest coast. Sneaking in before I tidy up as family and visitors staying tomorrow. Hope your stitch removal goes well Mick.
Nice middday recital yesterday but don’t like the way big voiced opera singers don’t change their style when moving to lighter pieces like Ivor Novello, or musicals, Thise songs are not meant to be thundered at us as if you have a spear and a winged helmet?
A trivial thought, why are so many cosmetics, eyeliners, pencils etc all black? I rummage about in my (admittedly cluttered) make up bag and can’t tell one from the other)
Thoughts to Chrissielou?

How frightening glammagran, glad it was dealt with promptly.

EllanVannin Thu 27-Jan-22 10:48:27

Good Morning All x.
Not so bad so far at least it's brighter than it has been of late. Also the temperature's a tad higher, not sure what, but I have all windows open with a breeze blowing through and it's quite pleasant.

A partly productive day yesterday firstly when the phone company rang, as last week I'd tried a chat online and didn't get anywhere as the person on the other end had said I wasn't registered with them ! Only been with them for about 15 years !

Anyway, the person on the phone went through my complaint ( sudden increase ) and organised an offer for the next 18 months at over £10 less per month. The language barrier was a bit iffy at times but I gathered what was going on and went through the rigmarole of the " terms and conditions " etc. Success with that anyway.

Then came the phone-call to the bank, not so fruitful as I was told there was a 20 minute wait, so I put the phone down and tried to go online. What a palava there too as I got the " due to Covid " message ! I nearly went into Meldrew mode, so had a coffee and calmed down.

I suppose one out of two ain't bad grin I can see an aircraft high up with its vapour trail----wish I was on it ! Another on its tail too. Ah well, I can dream.

What jollity in Marydoll's world at the hairdressers, brilliant, it's what we all want and need. Good to hear.

Pleased that there's some improvement with Ashcombe's DD, such a scary time especially after something that was there to protect. Which is why I'm loathe to have a second jab after my own experience a year ago----have had 3 reminder letters too. A double-edge sword exists, scared of another jab and scared of getting germs sad Can't win.

Good to see all's well after your break Urms you should have an extra spurt of energy now grin " What for ?" I hear her ask.

GrannySomerset is there some sort of an organisation that would take the piano off your hands ? A group of some kind ?
It might be worth asking around.
Just take your time with life now, there's no rush. x

Window-cleaners now so will go and pay him then have my 11s's. Stay safe and well everybody xx

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Hope the stitch removal goes well Mick, I remember turning up at the surgery on one occasion to be told they were dissolvable stitches! DH cooking today so on clearing up duty and hoping to have quick chat with friend I haven't seen lately. Good wishes to all.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 27-Jan-22 10:04:15

Good Morning all from almost sunny Harrogate.
Yesterday managed a little shop in Lidl, looked for the much spoken about veggie boxes, but couldn't find any.
Talking about veggies, I am presently awaitig my delivery from Sainsburies - last week they turned up half an hour early - this week??????
Today is my zoom day for my sisters.
Hope having your stitches removed is painless Mick
Glad you managed to get your Pharmacy problems sorted and a bit more Ash.
Hope your daughter is on the mend Chrissielou. What a shock with the baby Glammagran
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning, yet another grey dreary day here in Oxfordshire. I long to see blue sky and sunshine, don't even mind the cold. Busy day yesterday, DD1 was finally discharged after her overnight stay on the oncology ward, her collapse was due to drop in BP and thought to be also her doing too much. Strict instructions to rest, not so easy with 2 children though. Am very relieved but feeling a bit frazzled with it all. Will catch up reading everyone's news after my zoom work meetings this morning.

Blossoming Thu 27-Jan-22 09:46:47

Good morning Mick and everybody. Much brighter in my corner of Lancashire this morning, much milder too, currently 9°C. I cricked my back cleaning the stair carpets yesterday so didn’t manage a walk. I did work up quite a sweat doing the stairs though grin there are some advantages to living in a 3 storey house! It feels fine no so I will be able to have my daily walk.

Hope your ear is healed Mick

Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ?

Good morning from North Yorkshire. A bright and breezy day here.
My car has been taken to the garage to be checked over. It is suddenly only doing about 20mpg compared to the usual over 40. It’s still under warranty so I hope it can be sorted. I am off to Derbyshire tomorrow for DGS’s birthday on Saturday.
Some admin to do today for my charity, a bit of washing to sort and supper with a friend later.
Hope the stitches come out easily Mick.
Have a good day everyone.

Serendipity22 Thu 27-Jan-22 09:25:03

Good mornin everyone from a sunny, clear, chilly Yorkshire.

Hope all goes ok for you today Mick with your stitches removal take it easy this afternoon.

Well this morning i am expecting a doctor's phone consultation. I pòpped down to the surgery about 3 weeks ago to ask about the procedure regarding blood pressure check, i was told I needed dr's referal to have appointment with the nurse and that my 'appointment ' with the doctor would be a phone consultation on 27th January !!!! I said "27th January is 3 weeks away !!!" I was told that was the earliest 1. I dont think at this point i need to add further to this certain situation!!

I have a list of to buy sat on the kitchen table that i will do this afternoon then i might pop round again to see my neighbour, that is not written in stone.

Enjoy your day everyone whatever you choose to do.

What a lot is happening and it’s only 9.13 am! I am so encouraged by other people’s activity that it makes me braver about stepping back into life after so long being committed to caring for DH and meeting his ever increasing needs. Now I am free to come and go as I wish - just need to make the effort.

Love Marydoll’s hairdresser story - what a wonderful salon. The story of the heavy dresser reminds me that I want to get rid of DH’s iron framed piano and don’t quite know how. It weighs a ton, takes up too much space in the sitting room, and both AC have much better ones so can’t offload it on them, but equally don’t want it dumped in a lay-by. Any advice welcome.

Good morning from a grey but dry North Wales.
glammagran that must have been very frightening. So glad your dgs is alright.
Hope your ear is fully healed now Mick and Chrissielou's DD is recovering from the distress of collapsing.
Thoughts with all who are not well. Wishing a pleasant day to everyone.

Stilllearning Thu 27-Jan-22 08:53:27

Good morning from my bit of S Lanarkshire, patches of blue sky, hurrah!

Just heading out to mass where I will remember you all. I have to admit a big part of my motivation is getting a mile and a half walk under my belt. I’ll come back and catch up with everyone with my coffee. Good luck with the stitch removal Mick???

Lins1066 Thu 27-Jan-22 08:53:21

Good morning from our little corner of the S Welsh coast. The weather is damp but we are promised sunshine later.
My goodness glammagran that sounds very frightening for you all and especially for your dgs. Thank you for your kind good wishes.
We saw our little dgd for a couple of hours yesterday, she's a week old today. Mr Lins gave her her bottle then she slept in his arms, it seems he hasn't lost his touch ?
A catching up with chores day today and we'll take the little dog for a walk.
Hope your dd is ok Chrissielou.
Hope you are feeling better GG?
Have a good day everyone. Welcome home Urm.

Good morning from a cloudy Black Country.

A productive day yesterday, as took Mum to order a new Fridge Freezer which will be delivered Monday. She is really struggling to hear with just one hearing aid. I called her audiology to enquire when the mould will be ready. All they could say it wasn't back from manufacturers yet, and when it was it could be another 4 - 5 weeks for an appointment to fit it with the tubing. So I said we would collect it and I would try to fit it, as it's awkward to do yourself. It never used to take so long for appointments.

A walk this morning with my every other Thursday walking group, with a stop for coffee at the end.

The weeks are flying by and it will soon be February. MrJ's birthday on the 7th and I have no idea what present to get him!

Wishing you all a good day.
