Indeed - don't get me started either. What the Tories did to these services is criminal.

Don’t get me started, Luckygirl. I’ll always despise this government for the way they trashed the Sure Start centres. We had one attached to the school where I worked and the difference it and the first years of Every Child Matters made to children’s lives was incredible.

It is indeed a soundbite ... just window dressing. This from the government that killed Sure Start and funding for family centres, both of which were doing great work dragging poorer families up from the mire. This is the sort of levelling up we need .... never mind north/south.

Sounds totally intrusive to me with no practical outcome judging by present government's standards.

I'm sure the good citizen of York and Glasgow can't wait to see if they're chosen to be the temporary home of the House of Lords!

Certainly plenty of poverty here in East Anglia as well as plenty of wealth.

Levelling up is a sound bite, IMO. This article in The Guardian points out that poverty is the life of many across the country.

Is it a good use of taxpayers’ money, all the £5 vouchers add up and we’re told there’s no extra money for levelling up?

Georgesgran Thu 03-Feb-22 09:03:43

Thanks Mmay - that’s it. I think I’m getting more cynical with old age and doubted it’s legitimacy.

Is it this one, Georgesgran? If so, there’s a lot of info on here.

I wondered if it was a scam at first, which is why I looked for it.

Has anyone been selected for this? An official envelope, addressed to The Householder (me) arrived yesterday with a £5 voucher (to be encashed -at the Post Office) for taking part and an interviewer will visit next week to ask questions.
Apparently it’s an annual survey so can anyone tell me what to expect please.
