? Welcome Heatherbee. Hope to see you tomorrow.
How do you hang your washing out?
Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in brackley this morning.
Today, I will hopefully get the bus to Buckingham ,and then continue to Bicester , plan to have a breakfast bap with a coffee as well , plus a small shop .
I will skip having a Chinese Take away , and have ready made one instead as its cheaper ,and a smaller portion as well.
Take Care,
Mick
? Welcome Heatherbee. Hope to see you tomorrow.
Hello Heatherbee, whereabouts are you?
Newbie saying hello.
? muse
I feel late if it gets to 9am! ??
Goodness me EV I bet you’re raging, I would be too. Even worse you having to wait until Monday, I echo what Laura suggested and see if anything can be done before then - everything crossed ?
Good to see you posting Maria and hoping your DGS continues to improve quickly in the weeks ahead.
Late reading and posting has it has to be a good afternoon to all Morningsters. ????
From a glorious sunny start to the morning, there is now a very chilly wind and cloudy.
I glad you're having some Whew and positive news of late GrandMattie. You need lots more.
That's comforting news from you GrannySomerset. DD's like yours are a treasure.
I'm giving that gas company a virtual firm finger wagging ? EV . LauraNorderr's suggestion is an excellent one.
A few birthdays mentioned today. ?? Have fun.
I have another order to collect and am still rejoicing that I found the perfect colour for the tiles yesterday for our new kitchen. Just need some edging to go with them. ??That the fitter contacts us this weekend.
I've just been talking to someone telling them about my heating and he said they'll only cap it if a place is empty of if there's a smell of gas. Brilliant !
No smell of gas reported from me and obviously the place isn't empty. Why didn't someone knock to make sure ??
The gas company is fairly newish and not familiar with the area and the confusion is that I'm in an area where the same name is used for the grove, road, avenue and where I am, so the address could be one of the other three places. Gormless or what ?
Good morning Mick, Annie and all, from a bright, but cold bit of Betks. I had a better night's sleep last night, back in my own bed, but DH was up and down like a yo yo, best bit, no snoring!
Dear GrandMattie nice to hear that you are a bit more upbeat today, and such good news about your little ring. You are a tower of strength to your family, please be gentle with yourself.
Marydoll, what a saga, re your vaccinations. I have had 4, but yesterday received an email, saying that I could have a 4th??
Here's hoping that you manage to get your heating put back on EllanVannin.
Off out now to do a top up shop.
Have a good day one and all.
Maria I’m glad to see that your grandson is making good progress. What a long slog this has been for you all. I hope it won’t be too much longer until he is able to leave hospital and you can give him that long awaited big hug.
Welcome Ning74 I grew up in Alnwick and now live just over the Scottish border. Haven't posted for a while as we are still in limbo. DGS is still in hospital 9 weeks now he has been moved from high dependency to children's ward but still no visiting allowed. He continues to make slow progress and DDIL is allowed to take him outside in a wheelchair for daily walks. He has regained most of the movement he lost and this week physio are allowing him to walk for short periods with lots of work to improve his core strength. We are going to cinema tomorrow which is the first outing in a long while just not up to socialising in any form. Hugs to all who need them
Good morning from a wet and windy Sefton coast.
In preparation for a new (C21!) phone and consequent new wiring, my task today is to empty the under stairs cupboard which is crammed full of essential paraphernalia we use to go out for walks. DH, who wants to be organised before the phone company arrives, will find it difficult to discard items; I’m not a lot better. We appear to live in a clutter-free home until a cupboard is opened.
A few months ago a friend said she has half a kitchen cupboard empty. That is a concept which is quite alien to me. ?
Excellent news that you have found your signet ring grandMattie. I’d take it as a signal of a run of good luck.
Whatever you’re doing, have the best day possible.
???
Marydoll. No wonder you run out of steam. It is appalling that the NHS have lost (or whatever) your NHS vaccination record.
Oh dear EV, what a dire situation. Please ring your supplier and state that you are a vulnerable person without heat and hot water, they are obliged to help. Your age alone makes you a vulnerable person.
What an awful time your family have been through. A credit to you and your daughter for the strength they have to get through the days.
GrannySomerset glad your daughter is helping you and you are getting there. Difficult and sad time for you all.
Good morning Mick and all from a blustery and decidedly chilly Isle of Anglesey.
Welcome Ning and congrats on recent grandparenthood, a very special club.
Well done BlueSapphire for lifting yourself out of the doldrums, not easy, enjoy the matinee.
How lovely to have the love of your life snuggled up back in your own bed multicolouredswapsho
Feel better soon Gwen, you are going through the wars lately.
I’m off to my little studio now for a day of sloshing paint about and attempting to create a masterpiece, haha.
Hope lots of random pink flamingos pop in to your day everyone
??????
Good morning from a cold and sunny Chew Valley where DD is in excellent organising form and we are getting DH’s service details finalised to discuss with the Rector this afternoon. It is so good to have her here and a much needed dose of positivity. She is off to make a delivery of new and almost new clothes to the Hospice shop, something I have just put off for several weeks.
I feel your pain, Marydoll. Nothing more infuriating than a system which denies the facts, and even worse when you know it’s their error but there seems to be no way round it. Very bad for the blood pressure.
Good Morning All x.
Going dull out now after a bright start so I'll hurtle to get my few bits locally just in case the weather gets unkind.
Marydoll I can really sympathise with how you're feeling as yesterday and this weekend is going to be a long one.
First of all great joy when D arrived unexpectedly, since Christmas when I last saw her.
She had dropped GD off at the surgery nearby who was seeing the GP about a sleeping problem.
We had a great catch-up and all the children were fine and doing well. Decorators were at the house doing a brilliant job for her ( father and son ) as her hall stairs and landing is a big job which she'll be glad when it's done so that she can get that whole area carpeted.
Anyway, GD arrived from the GP's and I made sandwiches and coffee all round while I listened to some " horror " stories of how GD has been treated by the authorities when the children were taken. No support whatsoever and she hadn't known what to do, so she literally went off the rails completely.
So much " scheming " went on behind her back, so many lies had been told that I couldn't take it all in. I had no idea. The younger children had been refused counselling after the death of their dad. The foster carer at the time wouldn't allow it, so authorities didn't intervene.
I was dizzy by the time they left but I told GD to write down as much as she could remember. It's truly unbelievable !
Come teatime, I switched the heating on----it wasn't working ! The blue indicator light was flashing so I rang the heating engineer. He then told me to wait and came back saying that it had been capped yesterday ? Capped, I asked, why ? He said he didn't know ! Then he went again and returned saying that he couldn't find any reason, no leaks reported or anything. I had no letter/ note or phonecall, in fact no indication that this was going to happen.
I was well into Meldrew mode and " lost it " then asked does anyone know what they're doing.
I have to wait until Monday now as nobody works at the weekend. Good job I've got an electric fire.
The trouble was, if I'd put on the heating before 5pm yesterday, someone would have come out, after that, there's no chance.
The mystery now remains as to why it was capped. Apparently it was two jobs in the area that were written up yesterday but nothing to say why. Sheer incompetence springs to mind ! Something to do ?
So, Marydoll I know exactly how you feel x.
I'll be glad to watch the Olympics as a diversion.
Kettle on now for a wash then I'll get cracking to the shops.
Honestly, just when you think that all is well, comes a setback.
After that long moan, I hope everyone else is alright and I wish you all a good day. Stay safe. xx
Good morning all from a sunny, blowy W Kent. Not busy until this evening when we are off for a meal to celebrate youngest GS's birthday. We will meet up with his other G & G, we haven't seen them for quite a while. Just hoping I can hear with all the background noise in the restaurant.
Good wishes to all.
Good Morning all from a driech Harrogate. Glad you are feeling a wee bit better GrandMattie you really should be looking after you. Sorry you are not feeling so good Marydoll it's lousy having to go through the mill for your booster - it's not your fault the details of the last injection got lost.
Hope you are now on the up Multicolourswapshop.
I went to the hospital for blood samples to be taken and lo! I lost my hearing aid - not just any old hearing aid, my BAHA one (bone anchored hearing aid). So today will have to try to track in down. I was told it would cost me £3000 to replace!!!
Had another lousy night last night, DH suggested I try to sleep on a bit in the morning, barely 10 mins had gone by -" where's the paracetamol, which should i have"?
I've got a lot of baking to do this morning, just hope I get the right ingredients!
Have te best day possible, folks.
I’m so glad your family are Covid free GrandMattie, I hope this is the start of better times ahead.
Marydoll sending a virtual hug your way. It’s so frustrating dealing with bureaucracy of any kind, especially when you know what needs doing but can’t get it through to them.
Urms I was looking forward to your ballet performance, was disappointed to read on and see it isn’t you that’ll having the classes
Loved not lived ! ?
Good morning Mick and all his followers. Bright, breezy and blue skies in Suffolk this morning. We watched rugby last night, there will be two matches today and one tomorrow. We shall have to persuade DGS to watch tomorrow as we have them for the day. Mum and Dad are both on nights tonight - that was bad planning!
Welcome Ning and enjoy those babies! We lived in Washington for 18 months and lived Northumberland.
Marydoll I can feel your frustration - don’t let the buggers grind you down. Nil carborundum! Was that Terry Pratchett?
I hope the day is kind to everyone.
Hello, from South East Scotland. It's blowing an absolute hooley here and bucketing down. I intend to read and if I feel like it do some tidying up. It's really cold. A nice mug of hot chocolate beckons.
Good morning Mick and everybody. It’s grey and drizzly in my corner of Lancashire this morning, currently 7°C.
I’m expecting a parcel today, it’s Mr. B’s birthday soon and this is one of his presents. It’s being delivered by Royal Mail and due by 3pm so will wait until it’s arrived before I go for my walk.
Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ?
Good morning from North Wales.
Sorry to hear about all your troubles MaryDoll. I hope you have a better day.
I have had a difficult and worrying week made worse by having a choking fit last night which was scary so I am not feeling good today.
I realise what a wimp I am when some of the GNs on here have real problems and worries.
Wishing for ☀️ for all who need some.
Good Morning all from a chilly, very windy Scottish Borders.
Welcome Ning. Alnwick is a lovely place to live. I hope the DGC aren't too far away. Is that fabulous bookshop still there and the White Swan hotel where you can enjoy the inside of the Olympic, sister ship to the Titanic?

Dragonfly I feel your pain. Our U3A walk was on Thursday and I still ache,
Have a great day everyone.
