And I had a boyfriend who lived in Pratts Bottom!
Unless there are loads of them, that’s near us, Blue!
Good morning all doing fourth day of isolation and feeling a bit better. Will test again tomorrow to see if I’m on my way back to work. Been odd having all this time off but little energy to do anything. Got books to read knitting to do so will settle myself. Good day to all.
Here’s Matt.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and seems milder out. We just have white cloud cover at present, no sun.
My lunch yesterday with my friend got cancelled as her daughter had rung her with an SOS call. We rescheduled for today so I’m looking forward to it. Himself will be taking the Boy Wonder to football practice at 6pm.
I’m late today for various reasons so I’ll sit back now and read the 40+ posts! Enjoy Tuesday all who can.
Good morning Mick and all his followers.
It’s a lovely morning in our bit of Suffolk - hope it stays fine for you Kitty.
Me too Kitty & Gingster - I would love a Suffolk meet up. We are always up for a trip to the coast.
Up early ( for us!) and there is already washing on the line. More to go out soon.
I hope the day is kind to everyone
Good morning Mick and everyone from grey drizzly Carlisle. Just wet enough to keep me out of the garden again so a day when I shall finish off some housework tasks and make a few admin phone calls.
As for funny place names...when our boys were young we holidayed in Dorset. They were enchanted to find the local river was called River Piddle so just had to go and see it. A river just like any other! On a tour of the Shetlands, DH insisted on visiting the hamlet of Twatt...I hope that's not too rude to print on GN. I wonder what the inhabitants feel about it constantly being noted as one of the rudest place names in Britain.
Have the best possible day all.
Morning from Dunoon, I’ve had a lovely break and head home later this morning. Thank goodness the water looks nice and calm.
A ‘funny’ thing happened yesterday. Forty years ago my Bil, SiL and first child stayed with us for nearly a year, (big house and we managed very well). Anyhow, I usually went out to the fruit man when he called but one week I was out and my sister in law went. She was undecided on what kind of apples to buy and he said kindly, ‘’ your mother usually gets these ones’’
She couldn’t wait to tell me!
Yesterday we decided to join her health walking group and before she had time to introduce me, the leader said kindly “is this your mother?”
Luckily I do love her?
Glad to see your good news about your little grandson Beauregard you must be so relieved.
Glad your adventure is going well Marydoll and I love all the intriguing place names. I don’t think we have such a variety up here but maybe someone will prove me wrong.
Wishing everyone a good day ???
Good morning from sunny East Yorkshire.
Had a lot of faffing about this morning so I’m here late.
Great news for your family Beauregard
Sounds like you are having a ball Marydoll it will give you a boost.
Alygran I’d be interested in a meet up with other Yorkshire Grans. York would probably be best for me. I’m not a driver but can get the train.
Loving the place names today!
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning Mick and everybody. It’s cloudy and dry in my corner of Lancashire this morning, currently a balmy 11°C.
Today’s plan is laundry, usual physio exercises and a walk.
Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ?
Brilliant news Beauregard
Goodbyetoallthat your cheese sandwich ?
Fanny the cheese sandwich story involves a lot of swearing ?
And I had a boyfriend who lived in Pratts Bottom!
Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Northampton, 9°C outside.
Enjoyed yoga yesterday and went for a coffee afterwards. Managed to change the bed and get two loads of washing done when I got back. Then as I was.out most of the weekend caught up with all the newspapers in the afternoon.
Ordered an Agatha Christie book - Death on the Nile - yesterday, as I have just booked to see the new Kenneth Branagh film of it, and would like to read it first.
A bit of tidying up and washing up to do this morning, then after lunch off to a health walk which should be good today in the sunshine. Trying some chunky fish fingers for dinner tonight, which I shall have with chips and peas.
Some weird pronunciations of place names here in Northants. A village Cogenhoe, but pronounced Cooknoe; nearby is Bozeat, pronounced Bozhut. Near my childhood town in Wiltshire there is a village called Cherhill, which newcomers pronounce as Cher-hill; us locals said Cherrill.
And when taking DD to university in Hull, we were delighted to find a street called Land of Green Ginger!
Hope all have a good day.
Thats such good news about your DGS Beauregard how uplifting is that! So pleased he doesn’t have to go through surgery
Congratulations on your new baby DGD ning!
Good morning all from a corner of the S Welsh coast.
Hope your dgsfeels better soon GG.
Good news about your dgs Beauregard, relief for all the family.
The fish man calls today, missed him last week.
Your little granddaughter is the same age as ours Ning
Take care everyone.
Good morning from a very bright start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. Everyone wide away except me I’m so tired just want to snuggle back into bed. It was a busy day yesterday where I managed to make with my carers support delicious macaroni and cheese not just for me but for my very helpful next door neighbour who’s been so supportive of this household. We’ve got fabulous neighbours on either side of us we’re so lucky in that respect.
Have a good day all who are in despair hugs to you hope today goes well for you
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning from a cloudy, dry and mild Derbyshire.
We had a lovely afternoon with our youngest DGS yesterday who alternated between kicking his football, playing with toys and surfing on the coffee table! We had some good news - recent hospital tests show the small hole in his heart which he was born with (due to his Down syndrome) is closing by itself and isn't likely to require surgery. A relief!
I'm staying at home today as I'm awaiting a phone call for an appointment I've booked, so I'll need to go out for that at some point when I get the call.
Have a good Tuesday all.
Good morning from North Yorkshire.a little bit showery and grey today.
Walking and lunching with friends today.
There seems to be a few more Yorkshire grans on here recently. Perhaps a meet up sometime? A few of us have met in York, Harrogate or Northallerton in the pre Covid days.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all from warm Harrogate- yesterday it was 1 degree, today 11.
When we were first married we had a church clock, we couldn’t see it, but by heck we could hear it coupled with the church bells clanging at unearthly hours. Fortunately we were only in that flat for 6 months, and made sure our first house was far enough away from bells!
Gagagran my dad was a botanist and always maintained our lawn was an experiment to see how many weeds survived in it.
Have the best day you can, folks
I hope eveyone’s Day goes well.
Good morning everyone,
Am being a bit lazy, lying in bed reading interesting news items on my IPAD. Must get up as I need to get the bus to my local. health centre (nothing too serious). After that I will pop into my local book shop for a browse and a coffee to celebrate that my second granddaughter is two weeks old today ?
Plan to do more sorting of my cluttered home later and beginning of a much needed spring clean,
Good morning all from the Black country, sunny outside at the moment may get a walk in around the arboretum.
Pantglas enjoy your reiki I used to have them regularly but the place I went to closed and I haven't found another local one, but it did make me feel calm and relaxed afterwards.
Those of you on short breaks enjoy your stay.
Have a good day everyone and may you all find some ?.
Good morning all. I have concluded my Spanish adventures for now and back in a slightly dull but dry South Yorkshire. We had a lovely time in gran canaria, mostly walking, eating and drinking. Today's excitement includes getting my nails redone and some housewifery. Will also pick the grandchildren up from school which is always nice. Have a good day all
Good morning one and all from a bleak, windy Yorkshire.
An unusual day today, in fact its very rare in so much as i have made no plans for today ! Usually my diary resembles my GP surgery appointments.
So, i will see what the day brings ( not a lot judging by the Wizard of Oz weather )
Enjoy your day everyone.
