I cant believe that West Ham footballer did that to his cat. They should take that poor cat away from him and fine him.
He is unfit to look after any animal. Im sure he will get it in the neck next time his on the pitch.

I wish I hadn't seen this thread,it has really upset me.

Shocking and horrible as this is, a cat has at least the option of running out of an open door, or jumping out a window and finding a new home for itself.

Having said that, I remembered our "rescue cats" - the female had found an open window and jumped out of their abusive owner's home, but as she could not persuade her brother to follow her, she jumped back in, and put up with the abuse, until they were rescued.

This man's child does not - or not anything like as easily.

Unfortunately, I doubt social services will deem him an unfit father on the basis of a video showing his gross cruelty to the cat.

The RSPCA’s Twitter feed has a statement, basically they are saying that they are aware of the footage and at this time it is inappropriate to talk about individual cases.

Reading between the lines I guess they are ^on the case^

I do hope so.

The cat should definitely be taken away from him. That would be the case with anyone else in such circumstances. In fact, I believe there will be outrage if this does not happen.

I have not seen it, thank goodness. If that woman was sacked for kicking a horse, then so should he.

Horrible person. Doesn't deserve to keep animals.

Reading about this is upsetting enough for me to know I couldn’t bear to watch the video. I can’t believe he is not being made to suffer any consequences of animal cruelty.
Despicable man whose brains are obviously in his feet!

newnanny Tue 08-Feb-22 10:51:10

Absolutely sickening. As he is rich and famous he will.no doubt get away with it. The Bengal should be taken away from him and re-homed with someone who will love and treasure it. Even when cat was clearly frightened and in distress he chased it and slapped it on the head. He should be banned from ever owning an animal of any type ever again. I hope he loses his sponsors.

Audi10 Tue 08-Feb-22 10:50:33

Absolutely sickening made my stomach turn plus the fact the child had hold of the cat in second incident and he hit it , so as well as booting the cat he then slapped it! Wonder what else goes on!

I’m not sure about the RSPCA. They have an excellent track record for taking abusive animal owners etc to court.

If he is French I wonder if the incident took place in the U.K. ?

It was reported (so not necessarily true) that the RSPCA will be taking no further action.

No further action will be taken by either the Met Police or the RSPCA, apparently.

I wonder what West Ham fans will have to say about it when next he plays.

Compared to the female kicking and slapping a horse who has lost her job and the RSPCA has taken her to court.

Flipping footballers should not be above the law

lavendermine Tue 08-Feb-22 10:40:43

What a disgusting individual, I have just seen the write up and video.
I have written to the RSPCA and also to West Ham.
If these people let this go without prosecuting him and firing him then its an absolute disgrace.
What is it coming to. A lovely little cat subjected to horrible kicking and hitting, too much to think about tbh.
Our animals are so trusting, it beggars belief. I can't bear it.

I can’t believe that no action has been taken against him. But I think West Ham fans will give him something to think about. Maybe he should give a year salary to the cat protection as well as being banned for life from keeping any animal ?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 08-Feb-22 10:35:04

The Met are a disgrace and need a total clear out and fresh start.

Yes I think it was in his £2 million house!

X post Whitewave

It's worrying.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 08-Feb-22 10:22:37

I had no intention of watching the footage as the cat is identical to our last one, it is heartbreaking ?

I skipped through it as I didn’t want to comment without seeing for myself.

He is a bully of the lowest level, I would like to see him lose his job and any associated sponsorship deals.

Callistemon21 Tue 08-Feb-22 10:22:03

Apparently both his cats are loved and cherished.

I wonder if his child is loved and cherished too?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 08-Feb-22 10:21:16

His apology included that the cats are healthy and much loved members of the family - so, I assume are his children?.

Oldwoman70 Tue 08-Feb-22 10:18:56

Smileless2012

Who filmed it and why?

It was filmed by his brother who was laughing - probably so they could "enjoy" watching him kick the poor animal over and over again!

Callistemon21 Tue 08-Feb-22 10:10:39

Kurt Zouma

Never heard of him but he should be taught that a cat is not a football.

Callistemon21 Tue 08-Feb-22 10:09:18

Who was he?

He should be named and shamed and yes, banned from keeping animals for life.

If he'll do that to a cat would he do that to a child too?
