I know it is unchristian but is it poetic justice that Couzens is apparently seriously ill in Durham prison suffering from Covid - the excuse he used to stop Sarah Everard who he subsequently raped and murdered?

My only thought is that I hope what he did torments him every second for the rest of his miserable life.
I have zero compassion for him or anyone else who’s committed a heinous crime.

I agree, this sounds like lynch mob language.

Good post, LauraNorderr

I don’t really care if he lives or dies
That's how I feel too, if he dies good riddance, if he lives I hope he has a miserable life.

Nothing will bring Sarah back.

I remember when West killed himself when in custody awaiting trial, cheating justice.

LauraNorderr Thu 10-Feb-22 11:32:18

He committed a heinous crime, took the life of a beautiful young girl and destroyed her family. He set back trust in the police for a generation or more. He destroyed the life of his own family.
I don’t really care if he lives or dies but I don’t want to be in the front row with my knitting at the gallows.

Haven’t seen anything in the news about this which I would have expected had he been seriously ill?

I think most of us want him to survive to serve his full sentence amongst prisoners who want to make his life hell.

I won't shed any tears if he drops dead but nor do I want the law of the jungle in our prisons.

Over the years any number of prisoners e.g. Sutcliffe have been physically attacked even murdered - in all cases I'm sure the attacker would have had a long history of violent crimes.

Other brutes making 'his life hell' serves no purpose, certainly not for the prison staff.

MissAdventure Thu 10-Feb-22 10:09:19

I have just read that he isn't actually that ill, just isolating in his cell.

Galaxy Thu 10-Feb-22 09:40:35

Sorry that wasnt referring to old womans post rather to those wishing him harm at the hands of other prisoners.

Galaxy Thu 10-Feb-22 09:39:32

I dont want that either I would hate to become a person like that. It certainly wont help Sarah Everard or her family. I think it's a way of making ourselves feel better but not sure that's what the aim should be.

Oldwoman70 Thu 10-Feb-22 09:24:24

Do I wish his death, no. I would wish that he lives to a ripe old age and spends every day regretting what he did.

I am not going to organise a whip round but I am also not going to wish death on people. That's not the person I want to become.

My post did not say I wished death on him. That would be the easy way out for him.

Urmstongran

This reads like a lynch mob. Pretty unedifying to be honest.
He’s a man who did a vile thing but he’s been tried and is in prison for life.

Thank you Urmstongran. Yes, this is vile despicable man - BUT I am quite horrified at the comment on here regarding any other human being,.

Bet many of those posters would also claim to be religious - thank goodness I am a true believing atheist - and really care about my fellow human beings, even the worst of them.

This person's illness or death will not, in any way, assuage the grief felt by his victims family. That = sadly - will always be with them.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 10-Feb-22 09:10:28

My thoughts exactly Sarnia.

Are you going to organise a whip round for a Get Well card? Personally I can't begin to think how Sarah's devastated family and friends ever come to terms with what he did and I sincerely hope never to be in their position to find out. I hope he suffers every minute of every day. In my book someone like him never pays the price.

If he does die, though, at least it will save the taxpayer the cost of keeping him banged up.

Kalu Thu 10-Feb-22 00:25:53

Long covid, which I hope he suffers for the rest of his days would be Karma enough!

Grannmarie Wed 09-Feb-22 23:05:17

God works in mysterious ways...

I agree with other posters, I hope he serves his full sentence.

Sarnia Wed 09-Feb-22 22:57:43

I hope it's extremely unpleasant but not fatal. He deserves to live a very long life behind bars.

ElaineI Wed 09-Feb-22 22:57:18

He can't be that ill if he is still in his cell!

HowVeryDareYou Wed 09-Feb-22 20:00:25

Oh, how sad...... I hope it isn't anything trivial

I hope he recovers, I would rather he serves his full sentence.

Me too.

Blooming phone.
It's going mad today.
