Good morning from East Yorkshire there is a blue sky but feels chilly.

I’m feeling a bit better today but will take it easy again. Well until GS arrives after school at least! His current fascination is playing with all the cushions and having a throwing fight with them.
? to Shazz just down the road from me.

Hope you can now start to see some light at the end of the tunnel GM . Incidentally the word butt is in part of the name of my road. Before the houses were built it was used for the same purposes hence the name.
Take care everyone.

Good morning all from a drenched Polmont. Still 3° and feels very cold. It's pouring rain and has poured much of the night.
Progress grandmattie. I'm not surprised that you are exhausted and out of sorts. Ashcombe I love the name of the children's drama group! Tadpoles indeed.
Yesterday I visited mum. She was in good form and we blethered about the past. I was able to show her photos on Facebook of the newsagent she worked in when we were young. Then I went to art class and finished my pastel of snowdrops. I'll get a frame for it at the weekend.
Today I have no plans which is just as well,as the weather is horrible. Dd is taking sil for a procedure he's been waiting for since last January. Hopefully he'll find out why he's frequently unwell. Have a good day all.

Good morning from windy Leicestershire.

pleased you are getting things sorted Mattie it is a laborious upsetting business.
Did I miss something kitty- gf debacle?

Tai Chi this morning - wish I could remember the moves!
Wishing you all a good day.

Grandmabatty Thu 10-Feb-22 08:26:22

Glad the hen do went so well Marydoll. There is a definite resemblance to Anita!

glammagran Thu 10-Feb-22 08:35:47

Good morning to you all.

My daughter who was out in London on a hen night has tested positive for Covid after taking a test every day for 3 days. The rest of her family are negative for now. Her symptoms seem no more than a cold currently. Luckily we haven’t seen her since the weekend. She didn’t have the booster because her first two Pfizer jabs caused bleeding from her kidneys which isn’t good as she suffered a lot with kidney disease in her late teens. No problems with flu jabs though.

BlueSapphire I too live near Cherrill and of course said Cher-hill when we moved to this area a few years ago. I also like Labour-in-Vain hill by the monument and white horse. One of my daughters lives in Quemerford.

I read there was plenty of annoyance as an American spelling of a word was used in yesterday’s Wordle. I heard DH complaining about it as he finished it. That rather helped me later in the day and I got it in two which I’ve only done once before.

Tomorrow we hope to visit Westonbirt Aboretum for a leisurely walk as the weather is set fair for a couple of days. I feel as if I haven’t been anywhere in particular for ages.

Wishing everyone a good day and hoping those with worries and ill health find peace.

Good morning all from our corner of the S Welsh coast. It is dry and quite bright.
Didn't sleep well at all so a gentle day ahead, after I've made a beef casserole and cake to take to DS's tomorrow that is!
Good to hear that GG's daughter has a treatment plan in place.
Wishing everyone a good day.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s a lovely sunny start to the day. A nice surprise.

I’m making goulash later for our daughter and son in law. A ‘ready meal’ ha! My girl has a governor’s meeting after work so won’t be home till 7pm. She is so glad it’s half term here next week.

We will do the school pick up, quick tea and take them to their swimming lessons. I solved the problem of showering L’il Miss’ hair - I told her last week ‘shampoo from the ears down only’ it was SO much easier just washing the ends of her hair and not keep pushing her back under the shower head to rinse her scalp! That just takes forever as she has a lot of hair.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Clear blue sky again. It’s forecast to be very windy this afternoon, just when I need to be going out to collect my laptop from the IT hospital and go to the opticians.
I had a very pleasant evening at the village hall in the company of friends watching No Time to Die.
It sounds like Sainsburys are going to be busy today with all your deliveries!
Great pics Mary. I’m pleased you had such a lovely time.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from sunny South Yorkshire. Hairdressers today then I really want to get in the garden while we have sun. Go glad you are finally getting sorted grandmattie and you seem to have had such good fun Marydoll...I do enjoy reading your antics. Have a good day everyone

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 10-Feb-22 09:05:10

Good morning from a wet Oxfordshire, Alexa tells me it’s 1 degree with an expected high of 7. We will see.
I’ve slept so well since my procedure it’s bliss! But as I went through the house sorting , cleaning, filing and having a clear out before I went to hospital there isn’t much that needs to be done todayapart from the garden and that will have to wait.
Granmattie such a trying time for you, when MIL was put into the nursing home we found that she had put the incorrect birth date on her POAs, it took ages to sort we managed it just before her Dementia had completely taken her over.
marydoll lovely to see you having such a good time, Anita Manning has a double!
Happy anniversary Scentia
Urms love the daily Matt.
Welcome to the newbies.
mick have a good day.
Hope all have a good day and virtual hugs for those who aren’t feeling so chipper.

Lins1066 Thu 10-Feb-22 09:13:10

It was Gingster's Dd not GrannyGravy's, I knew that, think I should go back to bed.
Apologies.

Ashcombe Thu 10-Feb-22 09:22:52

grandMattie

Your talk sounds very interesting, Ash. In our little town, one of the Cinque Ports, there is a straight part of the town walls called “the Butts”! As it was obligatory for yeomen and serfs to target practice every week - surely not on a Sunday!

According to our speaker, at one time every Englishman over the age of seven was expected to attend such sessions twice a week. Mention was made of the Butts, grandMattie, and we learnt that the reason many yew trees are found in churchyards was because their wood makes good bows. ?

Good morning all from overcast W Kent. My cup of coffee yesterday with long time friend turned out to be upsetting as she has told me one of her daughters fears she may have cancer, they are waiting for diagnosis, we discussed the difficult ups and downs of life. Later in the day email from another friend to say she and DH have found their dream house and are moving away. Went to bed rather down. Quiet day today and good walk I think.
Best wishes to all

harrigran Thu 10-Feb-22 09:29:36

Good morning from a frosty but sunny NE.
SIL came yesterday and we went to Sainsbury's, I didn't really need much but ended up with new pyjamas, a frying pan and stew pot. The meat section had some interesting choices and came home with pork medallions and some Chateaubriand.
Went to the garage yesterday and found that someone had tried to force the door. I was woken on Monday night by a loud bang, must have been them breaking the lock.
More paperwork sorting today so I can get it in the recycling ♻️
SIL found a house for sale in the next street to me, it would suit them but would not sell to a family. The vendors have put double clear glass doors in between the two largest bedrooms, maybe to use as a dressing room.
Pleased you have probate GM, I received the papers in the first few days of January and all sorted now. I ordered numerous copies because a lot of institutions asked for them but they were diligent and returned them. I found that one big high street bank was happy to accept emailed, scanned copies of probate, death certificate and my ID.
Have a good day everyone.

brook2704 Thu 10-Feb-22 09:41:29

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s an awful cold, wet and very windy start to the day - just the day when we had to do the school run too
It’s good that things are now progressing GM hope it makes things a bit easier for you and your DH
Sounds like a great hen do marydoll so pleased you enjoyed the activities
I’m late posting as we had the DGC staying over last night. Your post about your DGD washing her made me smile Urms as I’ve just had a similar experience with DGD here. She’s just changed from a bath at night to a shower in the morning but she has to do the full works with loads of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner every morning. Then she sat at my dressing table whilst I dried her hair which took ages - all on a school morning too
Anyhow both delivered safely to school and we’re picking up again later, it’s football and brownies tonight.
Happy Anniversary Scentia enjoy your day together! ??
Hi to all new posters - so pleased you’ve joined us
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, take care all whatever the day brings ?

Urmstongran Thu 10-Feb-22 09:41:57

Just been chatting to EV our Crumpet Queen. I noticed she didn’t post yesterday morning and later in the day I saw I’d had a missed call from her.

She has been suspended.

EkwaNimitee Thu 10-Feb-22 09:42:23

Good Morning Mick and everyone from sunny breezy Carlisle.
I went into town yesterday simply to collect something and, as it's frugal February for me, I should have come straight home. I didn't. I went and had coffee and biscuits and bought a chocolate bar (I'm supposed to be slimming down!) then had to walk through M&S food hall as it was on the way back to my car. Hot cross buns and a hotpot found their way into my bag. No self discipline !
I got a bit of exercise in the garden after lunch, planting a tree I'd dug a big hole for the previous day. Hammering its stake in caused my watch to register a full days exercise quota fulfilled so I felt justified in sitting about the rest of the day with a new book and a long chat with old friends on the phone. They live too far away to visit often, not that I've been able to recently of course.
Today, light housework duties in the morning and my monthly visit to the hospital for a blood-letting after lunch. My iron levels seem to be coming down nicely so perhaps my visits will be less frequent in the future.
It's good to be moving on GrandMattie, I hope all goes well.
You're on a high Marydoll, what a fine time you've had!
Wishing everyone troubled in any way improving times.

GrannySomerset Thu 10-Feb-22 09:52:10

Why on earth has EV been suspended? I am horrified and wonder who the complainant was. No chance that we will learn what her offence was, of course.

Still nursing a sore throat so a domestic day for me but plenty to occupy me if I so choose. Need to sort out flowers for DH’s funeral next week - fortunately it’s not yet Lent so pots of daffodils in church and a small spray of white roses on the coffin to celebrate a proud Yorkshireman. Never seen the point in spending a fortune on flowers when there are so many good causes to support.

Elspeth45 Thu 10-Feb-22 09:57:18

Poor EV xx

Blossoming Thu 10-Feb-22 09:57:32

Good morning Mick and everybody. It’s sunny and dry again in my corner of Lancashire this morning, currently 5°C.

Just a flying visit as I have an appointment with the surgery this morning. I’m will read the thread later.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 10-Feb-22 09:59:45

Thank you Urms for the update on EV I noticed she was AWOL yesterday. I’m lost for words. Doesn’t anyone use common sense in these matters.
