Fans of The Rolling Stones - what's your favourite track?

I used to be a real fan of The Stones, but now prefer people like Tom Walker and Ed Sheeran whose lyrics are so much more positive about women. Many of the Stones' tracks have very dubious lyrics, and I find it hard to sing along.

I do still enjoy Angie, though. I think that's a beautiful song, regardless of who (or what) it is about.

I saw them twice in the 60s. I wasn't keen. I was a Beatles gal. A girl at school offered to pay for me to go with her as no one else would go. We were right at the front. Brian Jones did a wee in a beer bottle. I was disgusted grin sheltered life.
They grew in me and I saw them again a few years later and loved it. Still prefer the Beatles.
Oh sorry back to the question. I love
Ruby Tuesday and My Lady Darbanville with apologies for spelling.

Paint It Black and This Could Be The Last Time are my favourite tracks but for me their strength is in their stage performances, especially Mick Jagger. We always regretted not seeing them live, we just had to make do with DVDs.

DH a big stones fan has said Start me up.
I prefer the older ones Not fade away and This could be the last time.

Shinamae Thu 10-Feb-22 22:42:47

Not a great stones fan but I did like “the girl with the faraway eyes”….

MissAdventure Thu 10-Feb-22 23:05:39

Paint it black.
Wild horses.
Angie.
Satisfaction.
Sympathy for the devil.

I love to watch people at parties, when they've had a few to drink, and "satisfaction' is played.
They all start pouting and strutting around with their elbows out.

I'm a huge Beatles fan and bought all their records. Never bought a single Stones record, although I did very much love dancing to all their early tracks. They take me back to the 60s and make me want to dance, so I love them all. Brown Sugar was my favourite, although I understand it is now being scrutinised for the lyrics. I had no idea what it was about, I just loved dancing to it.

Brown Sugar is about Marsha Hunt who had a daughter with Mick Jagger.

As it was written for her, she had no problem with the lyrics. What others like or dislike about the song shouldn’t have a say surely?

Under my thumb, Get off my cloud. The last time. Can’t get no satisfaction , All bring back my time in the fab 60,s. Along with the Beatles too.

I was born in 1959, so The Rolling Stones and The Beatles records were played by my older brothers. Mum loved The Beatles, but I didn't really rate them much. My husband and I saw The Rolling Stones at Wembley, 1990 I think. They were marvellous

Grandmabatty Fri 11-Feb-22 08:18:25

Sympathy for the Devil and paint it black are my favourites.

NotAGran55 Fri 11-Feb-22 08:24:42

Wild Horses ?
You Can’t Always Get What You Want

I only saw them once in 1976 in London. A fair amount of alcohol was consumed during the gig and sadly it showed. They did apologise afterwards if I remember correctly.

J52 Fri 11-Feb-22 08:28:39

Preferred the Beetles, but Moonlight Mile is my favourite R/S track.

J52 Fri 11-Feb-22 08:28:55

Not a fan at all. But I can see that Mick was somewhat attractive. In a non attractive way. If that makes sense.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 11-Feb-22 08:50:30

Paint it Black, Ruby Tuesday, My Lady d’Arbanville.

MissAdventure Fri 11-Feb-22 08:54:41

I love some, especially Ruby Tuesday and Angie.

Under My Thumb makes my skin crawl.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 11-Feb-22 09:35:13

I love their album ‘Their Satanic Majesties Request’. I always preferred them to the Beatles. The Beatles were too poppy until Rubber Soul.

Shemekia Copeland 'rescued' this by swapping the genders, but it also had the effect of emphasising just how creepy the song now appears:
