Oh I love hardware shops too. The one in our nearest large village is absolutely bloody amazing and the chap who owns it is so knowledgeable about stuff and it just smells divine

Antique, and junk shops. Car boot sales, plants and books. I have far to many plants, books and furniture. Please someone restrain me !!

Bliss is a proper hardware store with a kitchen section, best of all a timber yard for the aroma of the wood...or an art supply shop with towering displays of all the beautifully ordered paints and the smell of them all...and a garden centre at any time of year: surrounded by so many living things waiting for a good home!

And yes, the one in Market Harborough is brilliant- I bux something from there every time we go. The sort of shop we just have to support. But the owners are getting older and I dread to think what will happen when they stop.

There is also a brilliant independent Cook shop just up in the alley.

When abroad, I love to visit traditional hardware stores- fascinating, and tell you so much about local culture and food preparation, etc.

Ooh, there is a brilliant one in the nextvillage to us. And a slightly more upmarket one in Market Harborough. Aren't they great?

Lakeland shop/catalogue anyone? Who knew there was so much stuff that you have managed very well without to date but desperately need now?

At the moment I'm seriously browsing Air Fryers Ninjas in particular. I also enjoy looking in the windows of jewellers shops. It's so pleasurable to see the precious stones, silver and gold and good design.

My DH likes looking in butchers shops, especially ones abroad.

So does mine and wet fish shops. I like the antique/junk shops and house clearance.

certainly, don't need duvet covers but yes I like to browse them some are so glorious. Same as haberdashery I don't sew but I like to browse material. My one dream is always to have a yarn shop and I am now able to have a yarn stall in our local market oh how I love to squish all the yarn! is a perfect stress buster and I do encourage my customers to have a good squish too!

I do agree with you about pads and notebooks although Ill never have inspiring enough thoughts to write in them. I do even spend moments trying to invent the TITLE on the book Ill never write too. Sad right?!!

I am now taken by the French style designs which have a deep pull out freezer drawer.
Sooo many new gizmos for the fridge section, too, these days!

My fridge is a 17 years old American fridge and, when it dies, I have my eye on one of those fridges with drawers too. The space is just right.

Talking of Turkish barbers.
At one time we used to holiday regularly in Turkey.
My sister and I would often leave our husbands in barbers for the works, (including the burning of the ear and nasal hair) and trog off to the markets.

On our return we would join DHs in the barbers and the lovely barbers would give us both a wonderful neck and shoulder massage.
I can still smell the citronella oil used by all the barbers. ?

Wine labels and unusual beer bottle labels.

I can't actually drink alcohol due due to medication , but I'm still drawn to the alcohol section to check out the lovely labels on all the bottles.
In an another life, I would have loved to have been a label designer/Artist ?

Yes, pram shops , preferably with big old 'bouncy prams' that were/will be used for generations of children . They're a rare but joyful sight to see now . And Turkish barbers shops too , if I was invisible that's where you would find me , or not ! I would sit hypnotised all day .
New thread maybe , if you were invisible where would you go ! ?

Talking of kettles, last year for my birthday DS2 bought me a dark green KitchenAid kettle - it looks like an old fashioned diving helmet and I stroke it every now and then

Garden centres - I just love plants, and I can spend hours reading the labels and selecting the best specimens even if I then don’t buy it. I can bore the pants off anybody who’s with me.

I’ve gone into our 2 local Turkish barbers and asked them to cut my hair ( they are so good ?)
They seemed a bit surprised and said, no, they didn’t cut womens hair. I wanted to ask if it was a cultural thing but thought better of it.

It's definitely not a cultural thing - more than some have only ever trained as barbers and haven't ever cut women's hair. The best haircuts and colour I have ever had in my life have been done by a wonderful hairdresser in Turkey. I only wish I could get him to do mine all the time!

Riverwalk I don't know why they are so fascinating but they are!

Jewellery. Rings in particular. I yearn for them even though I know I can't wear rings. I hate the way they feel on my hands.

Cheese shops, or delis with loads of bottles of olive oils and vinegars.
