Good morning all from Polmont where it's 5°. Grey skies again but it looks brighter. Yesterday was such a miserable day. I did very little yesterday and I have no plans for today. Have a good day all.

Grandmajean Mon 14-Feb-22 08:06:13

Morning from Cheshire. Miserable weather and doesn't look like stopping anytime soon.
Had a lovely afternoon and evening yesterday entertaining good friends. We have known them for over forty years so totally relaxed.
My kindest thoughts to Gingster and Chrissielou at a difficult and worrying time.

Good morning from sunny Brighton.
It’s been a hectic weekend but great fun. We are out for lunch today for Valentine’s Day with DS, DiL and eldest DGD, the younger one will be at nursery.

Just popped in for news of soop but got to go as the little ones are calling.

Wishing everyone a good day. Hope you get your stubborn DH to the doctor Mattie

Good morning everyone from a damp Northampton, though the rain has now stopped after yesterday's downpour.

Should have been yoga this morning followed by routine blood test appointment, but my friend has just texted to say she is feeling unwell and will not be able to give me a lift. So I will give yoga a miss and concentrate on getting to my medical appointment on time. Don't like to rush before a blood pressure check! I will probably get the bus to the surgery, then perhaps walk home weather permitting.

Had a text yesterday to say that elder DGD has tested positive; so as I was sitting next to her in the theatre last week I have just done a LFT which thankfully is negative. Also DSil is also positive. Both patients have a cold as their only symptom.

No need to rush now this morning, so will potter around tidying up, do the washing up and run the hoover over the downstairs.

Happy Valentine's to all; I have a small bottle of fizz to have this evening so will drink to the memory ofDH, and the happy times we shared; getting close to his anniversary now.

Will start my new book 'Death on the Nile' this afternoon, as I have booked to see the new Kenneth Branagh film on Sunday. Am wondering how it will compare with the Peter Ustinov version from the 70s, which I love.

Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Good morning from sunny Rutland. I’m back home after a very energenetic 11 days with DD2, 3DGS and puppy. DGS2 tested positive while I was there so my stay was longer than intended, but fortunately no one else succumbed this time. I feel I need a few days to recharge my batteries. Our 3 year old working cocker seems very sedate compared to the puppy! Hoping to get into the garden later after all the rain yesterday, lots of snowdrops now. marydoll it looks like you had great fun last week, lovely to see the photos. Thoughts and prayers are with soop and mr soop just now.

Wishing you all some ☀️ today.

Good morning from chilly Colchester. The sky is bright blue on top with fast moving dark clouds beneath. The sun is trying it's best and it's been raining overnight.
We don't usually do Valentine's here although I did buy DH the joke Aldi card, couldn't resist as I do love him more than the middle aisle.
Visiting DD2 and DGS2 today as it's half term holiday.
Love to all ?x

Good morning from a sunny Black country, such a change from yesterday rain all day. DH made a start on sorting his wardrobe out so I have some things for the charity shop, my turn next.
Enjoy your Valentines day and may you all find some ?.

Gingster Mon 14-Feb-22 07:58:38

Ah Thankyou Chrissie. We’ll get through this, I’m sure! Take each day as it comes - that’s all we can do! Our DD’s have slightly different treatments but fingers crossed it’s all in a good cause. Take care and keep strong! ❤️

NannyJan53 Mon 14-Feb-22 07:57:14

Good morning from a slightly brighter Black Country.

Had a ginormous Sunday Toast in Bristol with MrJ’s DD yesterday on the way home from Bristol, doubt I will eat today until this evening!

Accompanying Mum this morning to a hearing test, as she is thinking of buying private aids, so she has back up, as she was struggling with one hearing aid for 2 months whist she waited for a new mould.

MrJ is cooking a Valentines meal tonight, hope it isn’t too large!

Good morning from our corner of the S Welsh coast. It is dry here, I woke in the night about 2am, the moon was out, it was so bright almost like daylight.
I have an optician's appointment later.
Have a good time Gingster.
Take care everyone.

Chrissielou Mon 14-Feb-22 07:43:41

A drier and more settled start to the day in Oxfordshire, horrible weather yesterday.
Gingster how kind of you to ask, thank you, my DD1 has had a better couple of weeks, it is chemo day today so I am taking her to the hospital shortly. I do hope your DD is coping, what a journey we are both on, I think we started at a similar time. I send a hug for you across the miles.
As always, hopes for a good day for all, especially those struggling in one way or another.

Stilllearning Mon 14-Feb-22 07:43:31

Morning from S Lanarkshire where it’s starting to get light. I hope it’s dry, the rain was relentless yesterday.

I take this heart monitor off at 10 o’clock this morning and I can’t wait to get in the shower and feel fresh and clean again!
Then return it to our local hospital and head on in to post school granny duties thank goodness.

Your family get together sounds perfect baubles, that will be a precious photograph.

Lovely flowers Grandmadinosaur! Since, coincidentally, I will be with family tonight, I have bought a small banner of hearts to pin above the dining table to join in the Valentine spirit!

Wishing everyone a good day ???

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 14-Feb-22 07:40:47

Good morning all from dry at the moment Harrogate
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone
I agree our DHs are stubborn as mules, goats etc. My DH has coughed solidly for5 years, with little sign of it abating. Think he’s trying to beat my cough which went on for 5 years. I did pester the surgery but they made every excuse not to sort me out. I would beg to see the respiratory clinic at the hospital. Eventually I was so ill I was granted an appointment and was let in for a week - I had TB! DH does not have TB, but he probably has Bronchiectasis like me.
Today we are heading to Leeds. Dh has an eye appointment in a clinic there.
Must get a move on.
Have the best day possible folks

TopsyIrene06 Mon 14-Feb-22 07:31:56

Gagagran "February fill dyke". Lovely to hear that phrase again. I thought it was a Norfolk thing as my mum used to say it.

Wet morning here in the Southside of Glasgow but gradually getting lighter so time for a walk. Thoughts for Soop, I know what it's like too.

brook2704 Mon 14-Feb-22 07:31:54

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and cloudy with rain in the forecast for later
Yesterday I eventually got back out into the garden for the first time this year and enjoyed a few hours tidying up and clearing away dead foliage etc. Spring is definitely on its way with lots of little bulbs starting to grow and buds on many plants.
Safe journey Gingster and enjoy your break away
Today I’m going to the Aqua class at the gym and a browse around the shops. Here the DGC are still at school this week, they just get just 3 days off next week for half term instead.
Thinking especially of soop today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Beechnut Mon 14-Feb-22 07:30:29

Good Morning and Happy Valentines everyone. Damp this morning on Severnside. I can see pink tinged clouds that look pretty.

I had a lovely time yesterday with Beechnutella and her fella’s visit. She shared a revolution with me and couldn’t believe I did not already know. I did some Googling when she left! ?
She gave me chocolates for today and I gave her some.

A day spent pottering I think it will be and left overs to eat.

I remember my last walk around my dads house and the sadness when I turned the key in the door for the last time. That’s just brought a lump to my throat after all this time.

Have the best day you can all ??

Georgesgran Mon 14-Feb-22 07:27:25

Good morning from Durham, where it’s still dark. A miserable weekend weather wise and it seems wet again today, but I’m relaxed and refreshed for another week. A bit of admin first, then like another GN, I intend to try to ‘Spring clean’ one room a day during the rest of February. I still have DH’s clothes here and must make the effort to start and pack it up to donate. A daunting task.
X

Grandmadinosaur Mon 14-Feb-22 07:22:49

Good morning from East Yorkshire. What an awful day weather wise yesterday. It’s dry so far today.
Happy Valentines Day. I have lovely flowers from DH.
I started with a funny head yesterday not quite the dizziness of vertigo but just feeling like it’s on the way if you can understand me. Hoping to try and sleep it off.

Take care everyone.

Gingster Mon 14-Feb-22 07:19:55

Good morning all and it’s nice to get up in the light !

Yesterday we had a lovely day with all the family. Everyone on top form! We still didn’t manage to get a photo of all the GC. The teens refuse to co operate. They think their mums will put it on face book. Total embarrassment! ? ?.

Today we are heading up to our cottage by the sea. The first time since early November. We’ll stay for a week and come back to support DD on her cancer treatment journey. How is your daughter coping Chrissie ?

I do hope Soops op went well yesterday . Any updates Marydoll ? I don’t go on the other thread but hear about her troubles and fantastic support grans have given her. ❤️.

I hope you all have a ‘good day’.

???

Gagagran Mon 14-Feb-22 07:04:53

Good Morning everyone from a 5.2c south coast. Think we are set for a better day than yesterday when it rained non-stop from 11am. There's an old saying "February fill dyke....." and I think it did.

Good luck persuading your DH to seek further medical help Mattie. Mine refused too until it became a 999 blue light emergency and 5 weeks in hospital with 3 big operations over the following year.

I have an oven and extractor fan clean booked for this afternoon. I do keep the oven as clean as I can but it involves kneeling, which my knees don't allow and bending over, which my vertigo-proneness doesn't allow. DH would have a go if I asked him to but I prefer a proper job. It will be like new when he's done it and then I won't want to use it in case I spoil it!

Thoughts are still with Soop and hoping the operation went well and that she is soon out of ICU and starting her recovery.

My daffodils are opening more each day now and always make me smile at their cheerful pretty heads brightening the day. Love spring!

Have the best day you can everyone.sunshine

Sar53 Mon 14-Feb-22 07:03:48

Good morning from a damp Essex by the sea. Thank goodness the wind has died down.
Hair cut at 9.30 then housework when I get back.
We've been asked to look after two of DH's grandchildren this evening whilst their parents go to the theatre .
Have a lovely Monday everyone xx

Urmstongran Mon 14-Feb-22 06:59:02

No Matt today , it’s Monday.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s still dark and it’s raining. Never mind we have flights back to Malaga a week on Sunday and I’m excited already. We will stay for a month this time. No Day 2 PCR tests to purchase before we go this time ~ yay!

Good luck with your dental appointment grandMattie. I have a hygienist appointment late morning then, I think as it’s halfway to my daughter’s house, I will walk over (note to self - take a brolly) as it’s the start of half term!

Enjoy Monday all who can. x

baubles Mon 14-Feb-22 06:53:39

Good morning Mick, morning all from dark and damp South Lanarkshire.

A smashing afternoon was had by all at DD’s house yesterday. I even managed to get a half decent photo, for the first time, of all of my grandchildren together.

A very busy day ahead at work as there’s loads of paperwork on a Monday morning then a regional Teams meeting just after closing at 4pm.

Have the best day possible everyone. ??

Feelingmyage55 Mon 14-Feb-22 06:48:25

Good morning from a coolish north of Scotland at 3 degrees.
I am going out early to pick up some fresh veg and milk so that I am back early for a delivery.
grandMattie I admire your forbearance in the face of difficulties. Maybe your GS will make a quick video of his dad’s house although it will be empty. It will be there if he ever wants to look at it. I am glad you have had his company this weekend. As for Mr Stubborn, he sounds like my dad. I did a lot of eye rolling.
Toby1932 welcome to this thread.
Mick go and treat yourself in MnS then you can phone the token giver and tell them what you chose. You’ll make their day.
Thank you for the updates on soop Marydoll. I’m going to hop over to the kitchen to send greetings and if you are texting her, I am behaving but I cannot speak for anyone else.
Have the best day you can everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 14-Feb-22 06:44:37

Morning Mick and all

Wishing you all a lovely Valentines Day

I am off to the gym this morning, then I shall potter. Mr. Gravy is out this evening, so it’s an unromantic meal for one later ?❤️

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️
