HRT saved me - let's help get it on sale

The Medicines ... Regulatory Agency wants our views on allowing chemists to sell HRT. I'm all for it - vaginal atrophy is the pits! Sorry I disagree,HRT certainly saved my marriage and possibly my life BUT it needs to be prescibed by a medical professional .It could cause untold problems if just bought over the counter by women who know nothing about it.IF you nee dit see a doctor and get referred to a specialist

We have already had a thread on this. The product in question is NOT HRT. It is an estradiol pellet which is inserted into the vagina to give localised oestrogen. It only deals with one of the common long term results of the menopause, vaginal atrophy.

HRT is highly complex and should not ever be simply available over the counter. It needs medical input ideally from a specialist or a GP whose speciality is women's health.

I say this as someone who has been on oestrogen for over 30 years and who'll go to the grave clutching my prescription. After the contraceptive pill I believe it is the second most important medical advance for women ever but it needs medical supervision.
