Maw one of our daughter’s had a glitch with her debit card last week and she said it made her feel very flustered with a ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ flutter.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning all from bright N Bucks.
I’m glad to have a day at home as the last 2 days left me a little discombobulated. On Monday a red warning light came on on the car dashboard plus a high pitched squeak so I hied me round to our lovely garage in the village when a faulty pressure switch on the cooling system was diagnosed (which I hope will be fixed today). I had been due to go to crémant and cakes for a friends birthday in the next village but no car! I rang to offer my apologies and they very kindly offered to pick me up and drop me back as buses are virtually non-existent.
Yesterday my sister in law came up from London for lunch and to go to the Laura Knight exhibition at MK gallery with me. Filthy wet day but we managed with mini cabs etc except for coming home when I tried to get a bus but there was a 30 minute wait, then Uber declined my debit card, which put the wind up me and eventually I got another mini-cab and had enough cash on me to pay for it. Everything just took so much longer especially in the rain.
Card sorted out via telephone banking, car dropped round to garage for (fingers crossed) fixing and I have a quiet day ahead - Opera Plus this morning on Zoom, an illustrated lecture on Purnell’s “Dido and Aeneas” - Kleenex at the ready for Dido’s lament, but the music is heavenly.
I hope today will be kind to you all.

Good morning from S Hants, 11deg, clear, for now and still.
Thoughts with you gMattie so hard.
Your home from home sounds wonderful Gingster, I’m a weeny bit envious.
I’ve no great plans today, I lost something yesterday that gave me solace and am still missing it.
Enjoy your day those who can. For those struggling, may your day improve ??.

Lins1066 Wed 16-Feb-22 08:25:46

Good morning from our corner of the S Welsh coast. It is dry and blustery though it was a wet night.
We took the dog for a walk yesterday afternoon during a lull in the showers, it was windy and the tide was in.
I too am still in bed with a mug of tea having had another poor night with little sleep.
Take care everyone.

EkwaNimitee Wed 16-Feb-22 08:15:07

Good morning Mick and everyone from a grey and very windy Carlisle where worst is forecast.
Just a quick pop in for now, the landscaper rang yesterday as he had an unexpected slot so could he come to do my job today? Well, yes! So he's due any time now. And good luck to the guys in this weather. Sadly, no biscuits will be on offer with the tea/coffee, too short notice to buy any. Not a commodity I keep in the house.
Have the best possible day everyone.

GrannySomerset Wed 16-Feb-22 08:07:55

Need to prepare for family arriving tomorrow but most plans for Friday are in place. Awful weather forecast won’t make that day any easier, but today is currently dry though quite windy.

Thinking of Grandmattie today and hoping the day goes without upset. My sympathy, Gwen, you must be fed up with being messed about by the hospital. Hope the new handbag helps. Hope Marydoll starts to feel a little better too.

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where the wind is getting up already.

Thinking of you today gMattie.

Another day at the coal face today-aka the charity shop. Can I just say that managing volunteers is not without its challenges, I was ever so slightly frazzled yesterday.

Have the best day possible everyone. ??

BlueBalou Wed 16-Feb-22 07:58:55

Good morning everyone from a wet and very windy Wiltshire, it’s going to be a blustery dog walk this morning.
I need to get the house up together before DS et al arrive tomorrow morning and sort out the sleeping arrangements.
Next week is going to be frantic and messy, I have a wood burner going in and the boiler being replaced by a combi, I am dreading the mess ?
The next few months are going to be messy I guess with all the bits I want done!
Never mind, it’ll be lovely by summer I hope ????
Wishing you all a peaceful day x

Good morning all from the Suffolk Coast.
The sun is just rising over the sea and the sky has so many colours in it. I would love to try to paint it but it wouldn’t look real!

We arrived mid morning on Monday and my neighbour had put on our heating and left a pot of daffs on the kitchen table. What a dear! No damage here apart from a garden gate which needs another hinge. I’m not looking forward to storm Dudley or Eunice arriving as we are so open to the elements here. We are nice and cosy though! Much warmer here than at home. Small rooms and a woodburner does the trick!

I am going to see the film Belfast this afternoon. Dh isn’t one for the cinema, and my neighbour is still worried about Covid, so I’ll go on my own. No problem up here as it’s only 2 miles away , parking opposite and a quiet little theatre. It’s the oldest one in Suffolk. Over 100 yrs old.

We’ll walk little pooch along the beach and hope we beat the storm.

GrandMattie - another hard day for you. ? .

What a shame grans are leaving here. I have to say, I’ve never seen anything to get upset about. Best leave any controversy to other threads. It isn’t needed on here.

Hoping you all have a pleasant day without any upsets. ❤️

Good morning from a bright Black Country with ominous dark clouds looming!

Just back from filling car with petrol, I go early when it is quiet. Had to pop in to Sainsbury’s whilst there, and bought a coat at half price!

Lovely lunch with my friend yesterday, we were in there over 2 hours putting the world to rights.

No plans today, but will go to gym this morning

grandMattie flowers

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very gusty Hull. Grandmadinosaur up the road I think the worst of the storm is hitting us this afternoon and very pleased you are feeling better.
Today it’s a zoom Pilates class and this afternoon picking up DGS from school. Take care everyone if the storm hits you today and for people with worries hope today gives you reasons to smile.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 16-Feb-22 07:36:36

Good morning all very windy Harrogate
Yesterday I was absolutely gutted, after waiting over 2 hours for my hospital consultation- I phoned the hospital “ we told you your call has been cancelled!” Said they!! Except no-one told me. Apparently it’s postponed until next week. We then went to Knaresborough where I got a new handbag and picked up the dog from DDs. The afternoon was another telephone call, financial one which promised to las well over 1 hour until my brain died.
GrandMattie I can’t imagine what you are going through, it must be so painful.
Hope you feel better soon Marydoll it’s not the same without you.
Today I might even get the new printer set up!
Have the best day possible folks.

BlueSapphire Wed 16-Feb-22 07:33:17

Good morning everyone from a damp but clearing Northampton; storm Dudley forecast for us this afternoon with high winds and rain.

Did not get to my walk yesterday afternoon as it was pouring with rain, so made a good start on my new book, and have read nearly half of it.

Hoping to get to well-being Cafe at church after lunch, luckily it is on a bus route. Must take my tape measure today; one of the ladies has asked me to make her a cardigan so I need to get some measurements before I start.

Tidying up to do this morning and complete the Sainsbury's online order.

Shall miss those.taking a break; hope Wednesday is kind to all.

Grandmadinosaur Wed 16-Feb-22 07:26:29

* GrandmaJean* my Valentine card from my donkey arrived yesterday. When you mentioned yours yesterday I remembered I hadn’t received mine.

Grandmadinosaur Wed 16-Feb-22 07:24:49

Good morning from East Yorkshire. It is light and dry with what appears to be the start of Storm Dudley.

I’m feeling better today helped by GS’s visit yesterday. After 2 days in the house I would like to get out today.

Thinking of you today Grandmattie ?

A busy but fun day ahead Kim

Happy Birthday to MrBlossoming

Take care everyone.

cornergran Wed 16-Feb-22 07:22:55

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry, windy corner of Somerset.

Chores accomplished yesterday a quiet day ahead with just the grocery delivery to sort. Seem to have a constant headache, will try to get out if the wind gusts allow me to stay upright.

Go gently grandmattie, so much to deal with.

Have the best day you can everyone.

GrandmaSeaDragon Wed 16-Feb-22 07:22:47

Good morning from Rutland where a colourful sunrise has now faded to blue grey. It’s already very windy but dry. I can see a huge flock of birds circling - there must be hundreds of them landing and then rising again.

Looking forward to seeing our 2 DGDs today, they are looking forward to playing Monopoly apparently! Must get up and make some bread for lunch.

No news from yesterday on either front.

Wishing you all the best day, and thoughts to all those feeling below par just now.

Ali23 Wed 16-Feb-22 07:20:24

Good morning everyone from Leicester. We are expecting sunshine at some point today so I’m planning to tidy up the garden. Spring flowers are beginning to peep out, thank goodness.
Sending you a hug grandmattie. ?

monk08 Wed 16-Feb-22 07:18:59

Good morning all from the Black country very windy here.
Mums and toddlers today so early start.
Happy birthday MrBlossoming and anybody else with a birthday, virtual hugs where needed. Will catch up with everybody's happenings later enjoy your Wednesday and may you all find some ?.

Grandmajean Wed 16-Feb-22 07:17:29

Good morning all from Cheshire.
A bit windy out there but not too bad.
Early start as tree surgeon MIGHT be here at 8 am. Bet he isn't.
Snow Brook ! We hardly ever get any. A sprinkling sounds nice - any more is too messy.
Good Matt this morning Urmstongran
He always hits the nail on the head.
Kind thoughts to you GrandMattie

Urmstongran Wed 16-Feb-22 07:16:53

Interesting Ashcombe that it’s your surname! I wonder if we have any Eunice’s on here or in their family for Friday’s storm?

Grandmabatty Wed 16-Feb-22 07:10:18

Good morning all from Polmont. 8° but doesn't feel like it and windy. Storm Dudley is heading out way but hopefully we're on the periphery. I'm up early as I am getting my hair cut at half eight. I have very little hair but it still grows albeit slowly, so needs cutting. Then a quick visit to mum then I'm picking up dgs1 from playgroup to let his mum make a hair appointment. I'm looking forward to seeing him. Bolognaise for tea. Have a good day all. Stay safe!

Ashcombe Wed 16-Feb-22 07:06:59

Good morning from a windy Torbay. I had to smile when the weather forecaster said last night that Dudley would arrive tomorrow. It’s my surname and DH isn’t due here until next month!!

All aspects of life may be found on this thread with a poignant day ahead for grandMattie. I pray you will be given the strength to take you through the day ahead. Please be kind to yourself, dear lady and know how much you are in the thoughts of others.

For Kim19: a busy, happy few days ahead which I’m sure you’ll enjoy to the full. Lovely family time.

The regular leader of Wednesday Club (Toads Theatre social club) is away for a month so I’m running it in his absence. Luckily, another chap is willing to support me which will be a help with opening up the building, finding keys, light switches, etc! He’s a retired London fireman and we think he had a few pips on his uniform although he’s most unassuming and a proper “diamond geezer”!

Have the best day you can, everyone! ?????
