I don't know why I am because no one around me seems worried.

I've secured all my bins and garden furniture!

In a way the wind today is worse, it is being more sustained and will be liable to cause more damage to loosened structures and trees. I am not liking this month at all. Best to stay indoors

karmalady Sun 20-Feb-22 11:15:34

power has been out for 4 days, just 10 minutes walk away from me

VioletSky Sun 20-Feb-22 11:47:10

We have been really lucky too, a lot of people nearby with no power still

Shinamae Sun 20-Feb-22 12:35:24

The wind is still pretty ferocious here in North Devon, off to work again shortly along a tree lined Road…?‍♀️

Callistemon21 Sun 20-Feb-22 17:02:54

It's dreadful here today - in fact it seems worse than Friday's storm.
Hope everyone is ok; Shinamae take care! It's howling up the Bristol Channel.
Oh, lights flickering (or else it was lightning)

Callistemon21 Sun 20-Feb-22 17:05:16

I see it has been given a name now: Storm Franklin
70 mph winds and lashing rain

karmalady Sun 20-Feb-22 17:31:52

so it is another storm. It is dreadful here, horrible high speed sustained wind. Going to be like this all night and all day tomorrow. I am finding it more frightening than friday

VioletSky Sun 20-Feb-22 17:38:16

It's windy here but I hear the worst is much further north.

Stay safe all

I’m in the north west. The heavy rain started mid day and hasn’t lessened, it’s pouring ‘ lashing down. I got the dogs out at 9am thankfully. I encouraged them into the garden about 4, the spaniel took one look and ran to her bed. The big daft lab took off at speed but even his enthusiasm disappeared, he turned and ran back inside.
Awful dreadful sopping wet day

I'm not sure where you are karmalady but it is definitely far worse than Friday!

It's the lights flickering here, I think, not lightning.
I'd better find the candles and matches.

So sorry for all of you that have had three days of this, and for those who have had property damaged ! We seem to have survived with nothing worse than power cuts, although there are a few fences and even a wall down nearby. It's very wearing when it goes on and on.

Stay safe everyone, it'll all be over soon. flowers

We were give a yellow warning for today but it is as bad as the gusts on Friday which was a red warning for Cornwall. Many people have got power back after loosing it on Friday but there are still 8000s without power and most of these are in the more rural parts of the county. It could be midnight Monday before all get it back.

The wind is howling round the house again! We lost a large part of a horse chestnut and had to pile the garden furniture on the DGC's trampoline to stop it taking off!

We were wondering about the name this morning.

Met Office have a list of names every year that start in September - Alphabetical order and after Franklin, it's Gladys.

Casdon Sun 20-Feb-22 18:19:41

If you have an idea for the name of the storm you can submit it via email to the Met office - we can blame the public for the less obvious choices.

I am in somerset. It still sounds like a train outside. Thousands are without power. Flask is filled and phone fully charged. The squall line was, I suppose, like a mini tornado. Thorne ouside Doncaster has been very badly hit. Franklin is set to bring around 14 hours of wind gusts consistently over 45mph where I live and the ground is saturated. Going to be a disaster

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Feb-22 19:11:10

S Hants, blowing hard and lashing with rain for the last hour or so.

BBbevan Sun 20-Feb-22 19:20:23

S W Wales. Raining and blowing hard

merlotgran Sun 20-Feb-22 19:23:58

Same here, Jaxjacky I probably live not far from you.

Very noisy, just like last Friday.

Shandy57 Sun 20-Feb-22 19:24:48

Stay safe everyone. We've only got gusty winds here in Northumberland now, it's finally stopped raining but the fields have leaked a lot of surface water onto the roads.

Casdon Sun 20-Feb-22 19:48:31

I think the biggest problem in mid Wales now is going to be the flooding, the roads are terrible tonight, I’ve just been out to pick up my son from work and it’s running like a river, even on the A470 which is the main road to Cardiff. The river Usk has already burst it’s banks, and it’s still raining heavily.

Callistemon21 Sun 20-Feb-22 20:46:39

It's been horrendous, hasn't it, Casdon
However, the BBC seems to have missed it.

Shinamae Sun 20-Feb-22 20:49:55

In from work about half an hour ago and the wind tonight is a lot worse than it was on Friday I am worrying for the slates on the roof and the cowl on the chimney and also my shed which I spent £3000 on last summer…?‍♀️

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 20-Feb-22 21:11:02

Next doors tree has smashed through our new fence, the house is empty so we will have to search for the owner.
MsOops and family are due to go to Scotland from here in the morning by train and can’t find out if any are running, the one that have tickets for isn’t showing on the website.
Still very blustery and wet here in Oxfordshire.

Marmite32 Sun 20-Feb-22 21:36:01

Hardly like to say it, but here on Tyneside it hasn't been too bad.
Eldest daughter from Berkshire was going to visit for a couple of days and she has managed to get here. Whether she will get home is another matter.
Her train from Kings Cross to Newctlewas cancelled but she got a seat on the next train.
