Is anyone else a little bit anxious about the storm tomorrow?

Oopsadaisy, that’s a pain about next door’s tree, especially as your fence was new. I hope you track down the owner soon. I hope I’m wrong but I remember reading somewhere, long before these latest storms, that if next door’s tree lands in your garden you have to go through your own household insurers. I hope that is not the case as it seems very unfair. Good luck with getting it sorted. I hope your family get to Scotland ok!

It was bad here yesterday, the worst around 5.30pm. (South Gloucestershire). The rain was torrential and suddenly there was a terrible roar of the wind and crashing and banging. My cat was terrified.

I had to go out to see what had happened. My recycling box full of cardboard with 2 bricks on top to hold it down, had disappeared completely, including bricks, and nowhere to be seen. Some tiles have come off the roof. I could hardly stand up in the wind and was afraid of more tiles coming off and conking me on the head so I came back inside.

Gales blowing all night so I got up at 5.30am this morn and once it gets light I'll have to check round the house outside and then phone my insurers.

Disturbed night here, the wind sounds as bad as Friday although the gusts are apparently 60mph rather than the 70’s. Wind direction is directly on the front of our home. It’s very scary, alternating between howling and sounding like an express train about to hit, everything creaking and groaning . I’m very anxious.

So sorry for those of you with structural damage and fallen trees to contend with. The remains of our fence worries me in case it flies as a portion did on Friday, it could hit a walker. Amazed how many were battling along yesterday. I know it’s been made as safe as possible, it still seems a potential danger.

Wind gusts here,Bolton, seem stronger than Friday's wind and going off the noises in our wood burner flue...think the chimney has been damaged....we get the full pelt of it due fields/moorland at the back of our house...?

Bad night last night, though no damage we can see. Our Windows look as if we have net curtains , there is so much salt on them. Everything is creaking. Hopefully it is supposed to ease this afternoon Keep safe everyone

My flat looks backwards towards the promenade along the Fylde coast, so the wind lashing round the gardens is very strong.

For the first time this morning, I was frightened when I took the dogs out to their ablutions - it's usually much less windy on the side that faces the road but the gusts were scary today.

bevan our windows are the same and we are at least a couple of miles as the crow flies I reckon from the sea - up on the Downs.

It’s horrible here in north Manchester - again. We had howling winds and lashing rains over night. Currently a bit of a lull but still ferocious wind and rain.
We are double glazed but the wind chill factor is clear

North Devon,howling winds but hardly any rain all week.. must go out and fill the fat balls as the sparrows are still here! And while I’m out there I’m going to check the cowl on top of the chimney with fingers crossed..?

It’s rough here north of Bath, DDog and I battled the gusts on our early walk. I think it’s worse than Eunice which seemed far less worrying when it arrived.
We’re used to high winds here on top of the hill and I’ve seen little damage so far just a few fence panels and a couple of branches.
Lucky I think!

How much more wind to come??? Hardly any fence left now. The roads and pavements around here are literally full of tree branches and debris. Our garden flowerbeds were underwater at one point yesterday afternoon. I do hope we get a decent summer this year!

My daughter is in NI and I'm glad she doesn't have to leave for work until 11 am. She only has a tiny Corsa and will be driving along tree lined country lanes.

I would prefer to have a hedge rather than a fence now, but my neighbour's garden is lower than mine, unfortunately not possible.

Dare I tempt fate by saying the wind seems to be dissipating at the moment?…. And at the moment the Cowl is still atop the chimney. I have a journey to work later along a tree lined road again but they do seem to be keeping it clear as much as they can,there are a lot of fallen trees stacked up on the roadside.

The noise of the wind here (outer SW London) earlier this morning, reminded me of when we used to live close to an airfield where fighter planes were sometimes right overhead, very low, practising ‘bumps and starts’.
Utterly deafening! I well remember a very little dd being terrified.

I had to shop, unexpected visitors tomorrow. I padded myself well, long fastened padded coat, hat, gloves, boots. Went to town easily, no effort, got my things. Hard going coming back, I saw no missing roof tiles, plenty of swaying trees in gardens and many overhead electricity wires. The wind channelled through my close and I did that wind-pushed run just by my house, falling into my porch. Banged my knees and nose, luckily nose on rubber mat and knees protected by long padded coat. Nothing damaged in my bag, bar one broken cake

Wind is so powerful, same as fast running water. We were taught at mountain leadership eons ago, that water 6" deep can knock you over

I am fine, am taking arnica soon, nothing damaged and I was extremely lucky and grateful that I decided to pad myself up, lands end squall coat, was worth every penny, just for this episode, it fastens down to my calves

Karmalady! Glad you are OK and didn't hurt yourself too badly. I was carrying a huge box yesterday and fell sideways, falling is such a shock isn't it. My balance is bad because my muscles have wasted, I can't put trousers on without leaning on something now.

I messaged my daughter in NI - their 'big' window blew open in the night, gave them a scare. She is renting, I must ask her if they have contents insurance.

Whilst I was out at the beach I've decided to have a 'storm box' at the ready, rather than putting everything back in its place. Will have to buy a new torch, this expensive Duracell one doesn't always go on, and takes 6 AA batteries. And next predicted storm I'm also going to plan lots of things to do and avoid the news/social media. Best wishes to all, roll on a peaceful March.

Oh gosh karmalady, I hope you aren't too sore I just went out in my sons little car and decided to stop at the first shop and then come home instead of doing the journey I had intended to do as it was so rough! It has all of sudden gone very sunny and calm!

My daughter in Cheshire/sShropshire said they have been awake since 3.00 am with the wind.
A tree has blocked their drive and taken down a paddock fence so she’s had to risk the elements and move horses into another paddock, so they are housebound but still have electricity?
