I could cry with sheer admiration and respect for pilots landing aircraft's in this storm, or any storm.

My DH once landed in Hong Kong (the old airport) in a thunderstorm. Even in good weather landings were a bit hairy, as the plane flew between skyscrapers so close that you could see people working in the offices - goodness knows how bad it would be in a storm!!! He said the plane was rocking about a bit, but he is a good flyer and didn't really get rattled by it!

We flew into the old Hong Kong airport with two of our boys, and you could see into peoples apartments.

I found it terrifying as I am not a good flyer, the children and DH thought it brilliant.

Trisha57 I remember the old airport in Hong Kong flying out was just as hairy as one appeared to hurtle out to sea. My 3 year old daughter shouted out ' We are going to crash. we are going to crash' which possibly didn't help the other passengers nerves

I’ve had several hairy landings at Gibraltar visiting my son. It’s often too windy, there is low cloud and diversions to other airports the pilots take the decision on a visual at the last minute last minute . We had one where something was spotted on the runway and we did a last second go around, that was so unexpected and scary.

When we lived up Tai Po Rd. The planes flew below our flat.
