Morning Mick, morning All from a clear, cold corner of Somerset. Much calmer than yesterday decided to be although there still a fairly strong wind.

Watched our back fence bend and then a third of it disappear towards the river, the wind was frightening at times. A very particular neighbour is nagging because the side fence has a loose fence post. Fortunately the management company will sort the fences, someone came and did their best to support the remaining fence yesterday. Looks like the plan is to replace it all which will take time. I’m feeling quite vulnerable with the back of our home open to a public footpath along the river. Having said that we’ve got a great view now. Other than watching the flowers on the camellia be blown off and away we survived unscathed, some folk suffered far more.

No idea what we’ll do today. See how the day feels. May even stir myself and give the kitchen a deep clean.

Thoughts with all finding life hard going just now. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Good morning from a considerably calmer South Yorkshire.

We had some very strong gusts yesterday, and round and about, trees have been brought down and fence panels lost, but otherwise it was not as bad as I feared it would be compared to other places. (Though some of those gusts were very strong and quite scary). We did, however, lose power for just over 3 hours from 5 pm in our little area (not all streets round about did), but luckily I had candles and torches to hand, and a flask filled with hot water so I was able to have a hot drink.

The power was restored by the time DH got home - his night shift last night was cancelled, so he waited for the wind to ease a bit before setting off for home. He said the roads weren’t too bad, and his journey was ok, thank goodness.

We have rain and sleet forecast for this afternoon, but it really needn’t bother!

I didn’t think the rugby was on this weekend as DH said they were having a break this weekend and next, then on again for 3 weekends - but that’s rugby union, perhaps some of you are watching league matches? Anyway, whatever, I won’t be watching it, but DH will if he realises there are matches after all?.

I hope today passes uneventfully for everyone, and that not too much damage from the storm has been suffered by you affected.
? for those of you with sadness, illness or worries today.

Take care.

Good morning from a calm and sunny (so far) Oxfordshire, we woke up to the sound of chain saws, as some lanes were strewn with branches and fallen trees.
At least the power came back on late afternoon yesterday, just as the house was getting cold, DHs mate came for a chilli
( it would take more than a storm to make him cancel) I had just finished sorting out candles and the power came back on, it would have looked pretty though.
MsOops and GCs will hopefully be here late today, they aren’t sure how bad their lane and woods are this morning so they will have to walk a bit and see if their road is clear so that they can get out. The they are off to Scotland, let’s hope the trains are back to normal on Monday.
MissOops lost some fence panels, but the landlord will be out to sort that. Our bench blew over! Thankfully compared to some we we very lucky, we are quite sheltered.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can and hugs to those who have cares and worries. Let’s hope today is kind to us all.

Good morning from East Yorkshire and there’s a bright blue sunny sky here. Thankfully no damage after a very blustery evening. I was rather concerned as there is still a lot of debris and rubble across from the back of the house after that factory fire last year.

I think we will get out the house this morning before weather is supposed to change later - rain. I need to stretch my legs and have some fresh air after a day mostly indoors yesterday.

Take care everyone.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning all from a damp S Welsh coast, fortunately we had no damage from Storm Eunice despite being in the red area and very exposed here.

Our DD is flying to San Francisco this morning on the first leg of her American holiday, thank goodness it wasn't yesterday when that flight from Heathrow was cancelled. We will enjoy tracking her plane later.

Ds and his little family are coming for lunch, so looking forward to that.
Wishing everyone a pleasant day.

My ❤ is whole again DGS2 came home last night it is 12 weeks today since he went into hospital. It was lovely last night to have family meal and have everyone together until bedtime when both boys were excited to go to their own beds. We will pop in to see them later after a lunch for Macmillan. Hugs to all who need one.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s calm and cloudy.
I need to go and tidy up outside after the storm yesterday. No damage just lots of blown about bits.
I’m pleased I cancelled going to London yesterday. The train I had booked only made it as far as Stevenage.
Maria I am so pleased for you and your family.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle. Yesterdays yellow warnings for wind and snow/ice proved unjustified--we had a bright blue-skied morning and a grey rather windy afternoon but nothing unusual. I went out to the garden centre and tree damage due to Dudley was evident. It was very windy there but it's nearer the coast. It was busy but only in the indoor retail area and the restaurant. I was the only one I saw venturing outside and that was only long enough to grab some big sacks of bark mulch...it was earnippingly cold!
I'm not sure I'll be outside today, it needs calm conditions to lay down weed control fabric and it's a little breezy. A photo might appear at some point Jaxjacky when/if I figure out how to do it!
No one on this thread seems to have suffered serious damage thankfully and no bad flooding either nationwide it seems so hopefully that's the worst of it for this winter.
Have a good weekend all.

Good morning all from a calm and quiet South Yorkshire. No storm damage here, so far as I know. I moved my favourite plant (well the pot more than the plant) to a sheltered position and it has survived. Dgd1 to take to dance this morning and take dgs2 home then housewifery awaits! Have a good day all x

Calm at moment here ,fetching gd from school yesterday was a bit hairy the rain was very heavy then that turned to hail our faces was stinging,I had to hang on to her has wind was blustery it's only a 5/10min walk but we got to their house absolutely soaked but safe .When we got home there was a corner ridge tile in drive good job we were out in car or it would have damaged car ,we have someone coming to fix it , hope worst is over now !! Keep safe everyone x

merlotgran Sat 19-Feb-22 09:14:00

Good morning everyone from the sunny (so far) south coast.

I was lucky not to have any damage yesterday. My friend who lives five minutes away lost her garden wall!

I paid to have mine demolished a couple of months ago to get off road parking. Maybe Eunice would have done it for nothing ?

Waiting for my new sofa to be delivered. Peggy will want to be the first to try it out so throws at the ready.

Have a good day, everyone.

Urmstongran Sat 19-Feb-22 09:23:58

Wonderful news Maria!

Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton, rain forecast this afternoon when I shall be at the rugby; we play Sale Sharks and am expecting a tough match. Lucky socks and team shirt are called for, I think! It sounds very quiet outside today, unlike yesterday.

There is rugby league on Channel 4 early afternoon, and union on BT Sport at 2.30, Bath v Leicester; can't find any more rugby on, 6 Nations is resting.

Luckily escaped damage yesterday from the storm, although a fence post is leaning; shall get that sorted in the next few weeks. I shall have to go round and chat to the neighbours at the back, as the man may need access to their garden.

Stayed in yesterday and introduced the duster, polish and Shark to the sitting room - am going out for lunch with friends on Monday and will probably ask them in for coffee afterwards. Even washed the cushion covers!

Just tested negative, and am now waiting for DD's and DS-in-law's test results, as DS-in-law had Covid last week. They don't want to take any risks as we sit next to each other at rugby.

Such sad news, Henetha.flowers

So take care and stay safe everyone.

Maria, my heart went out to you when I read your message, this must have been a terribly worrying few months. My grandchildren are my world so I can’t imagine what you have all been through.

Grandmadinosaur you literally are down the road from me.

Kali2 Sat 19-Feb-22 09:39:33

Great news Maria- what a relief it must be.

Glad to hear none of you suffered too much damage yesterday.

DD1's fences and some tiles went flying (in Surrey)- but nothing too serious. I was worried as they are surrounded by very tall trees.

All quiet here in my Jura mountains- bright but a bit grey, with a sprinkling of new snow.

Pittcity Sat 19-Feb-22 09:45:28

Anyone watching the curling? I am quite excited!

harrigran Sat 19-Feb-22 09:57:50

Good morning from a still breezy NE.
Family will not be visiting today as GD1 tested positive, this is the second time she has had covid. Why couldn't she get it at the same time as her sister ?
I had a lot of stuff to go in the bin yesterday after clearing cupboards until 2am, unfortunately binmen changed their routine and came early while I was in the shower. Next collection two weeks so cross with myself.
Sister and BIL will bring my bread, milk and a newspaper this afternoon and we will have a glass of something and a chat.
My sister, in Germany, lost her friend to pancreatic cancer this week and is understandably very upset. My sister has no family and was widowed a year ago so her friends are her lifeline.
Have a peaceful weekend.

Good morning Mick and everybody. It’s snowing in my corner of Lancashire this morning, currently 3°C. No wind at the moment.

Henetha how shocking flowers

Wonderful news Maria, enjoy the family get together.

Wishing you all the best possible day. May all those with worries find some comfort and all who are under the weather find some relief. ?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 19-Feb-22 11:10:16

A late good morning Mick and all from me.

The Imp is asleep on the sofa, half on my lap so I am unable to move…

GrandpaGravy, DD and the 7 yr old are at her soon to be gone old flat packing uo the last of the kitchen and cleaning thoroughly (it has been empty for 7 months as they have been with us).

We lost a fence panel yesterday, I managed to catch the BBQ cover as it took flight, we lost some wooden tiles of off the pergola which covers the jacuzzi pool and bar area. The lawn is strewn with branches and debris but fortunately all our trees are standing, somewhat bedraggled.

DH is cooking duck breasts tonight so I will be sitting watching him with a glass of chilled white wine, bliss.

Lovely heartwarming news Maria , such a worrying few months for you and your family.

Urmstongran I hope you used your Boots points

I hope all of our dear virtual friends who are without power and suffered damage curtesy of Storm Eunice are quickly reconnected and the damage is covered by insurance and easily mended.

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️?
