Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Last letters become first - March 26
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry with no wind this morning here in brackley .
Todays plans are to go to Bicester via Buckingham hopefully see friends that way.
I will return home and watch cycling from Spain and Portugal on TV ,and then go for a Chinese Take Away.
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning from East Yorkshire and there’s a bright blue sunny sky here. Thankfully no damage after a very blustery evening. I was rather concerned as there is still a lot of debris and rubble across from the back of the house after that factory fire last year.
I think we will get out the house this morning before weather is supposed to change later - rain. I need to stretch my legs and have some fresh air after a day mostly indoors yesterday.
Take care everyone.
Good morning from a calm and sunny (so far) Oxfordshire, we woke up to the sound of chain saws, as some lanes were strewn with branches and fallen trees.
At least the power came back on late afternoon yesterday, just as the house was getting cold, DHs mate came for a chilli
( it would take more than a storm to make him cancel) I had just finished sorting out candles and the power came back on, it would have looked pretty though.
MsOops and GCs will hopefully be here late today, they aren’t sure how bad their lane and woods are this morning so they will have to walk a bit and see if their road is clear so that they can get out. The they are off to Scotland, let’s hope the trains are back to normal on Monday.
MissOops lost some fence panels, but the landlord will be out to sort that. Our bench blew over! Thankfully compared to some we we very lucky, we are quite sheltered.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can and hugs to those who have cares and worries. Let’s hope today is kind to us all.
Good morning from a considerably calmer South Yorkshire.
We had some very strong gusts yesterday, and round and about, trees have been brought down and fence panels lost, but otherwise it was not as bad as I feared it would be compared to other places. (Though some of those gusts were very strong and quite scary). We did, however, lose power for just over 3 hours from 5 pm in our little area (not all streets round about did), but luckily I had candles and torches to hand, and a flask filled with hot water so I was able to have a hot drink.
The power was restored by the time DH got home - his night shift last night was cancelled, so he waited for the wind to ease a bit before setting off for home. He said the roads weren’t too bad, and his journey was ok, thank goodness.
We have rain and sleet forecast for this afternoon, but it really needn’t bother!
I didn’t think the rugby was on this weekend as DH said they were having a break this weekend and next, then on again for 3 weekends - but that’s rugby union, perhaps some of you are watching league matches? Anyway, whatever, I won’t be watching it, but DH will if he realises there are matches after all?.
I hope today passes uneventfully for everyone, and that not too much damage from the storm has been suffered by you affected.
? for those of you with sadness, illness or worries today.
Take care.
Morning Mick, morning All from a clear, cold corner of Somerset. Much calmer than yesterday decided to be although there still a fairly strong wind.
Watched our back fence bend and then a third of it disappear towards the river, the wind was frightening at times. A very particular neighbour is nagging because the side fence has a loose fence post. Fortunately the management company will sort the fences, someone came and did their best to support the remaining fence yesterday. Looks like the plan is to replace it all which will take time. I’m feeling quite vulnerable with the back of our home open to a public footpath along the river. Having said that we’ve got a great view now. Other than watching the flowers on the camellia be blown off and away we survived unscathed, some folk suffered far more.
No idea what we’ll do today. See how the day feels. May even stir myself and give the kitchen a deep clean.
Thoughts with all finding life hard going just now. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.
A bright sunny, blue sky morning here in a now calm Oxfordshire. Firstly, my sympathy to Henetha, what shattering news for you.
Will walk the dog and survey the damage in our nearby woods, pop to the local town to return some clothes I purchased online, plant some seeds in the greenhouse and have an easy supper of pizza and salad in front of the fire tonight.
Enjoy a calmer day everyone!
Good morning from a calm but dull Black Country.
We seemed to escape the storm fairly unscathed. Out travelling to Telford for a funeral was windy but nothing like I had feared! Thoughts with those who weren’t so lucky
No plans today except for a spot of housework
Wishing you all a good weekend
Morning everyone. Hope all of you are safe. What a few days we have had. Raining again now and more wind to come here in Yorkshire. Hoping for a reprieve at some point as two boisterous grandchildren here!
Good morning from sunny but cold Colchester. A bit of a tidy up needed outside but no damage. Lots of tree, fence and roof damage reported locally.
DD2 had an eventful day with power cuts, fences down and a stranded partner to pick up.
We've been called on to have 2 x dgs overnight again as the other grandparents have Covid. We are happy to have them as they won't be young for long.
Love to all ? x
Good morning everyone!
Gosh, we seem to have escaped damage here just north of Bath, it was nowhere near as windy as I’d feared, in fact it was less so than some nameless storms we had during the winter.
We did have a spectacular hailstorm late afternoon that left the patio white but nothing else of note. Oh, and a power cut for 4 hours but we’re used to those here! We sat and played a werewolf card game with the DGCs, really good!
There are a few fence panels down up the road (they were pretty rickety) and some small branches but nothing else.
Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.
My DD had roof tiles smash through the back window of her new car in the storm.
Fortunately no one was in it. They don’t seem to be having much luck at the moment. The owner of the house they are trying to buy is refusing to name a solicitor so things are at a standstill!
Staying in today as risked life and limb to go to the hairdresser yesterday. I have a lot of to to catch up on while DH watches the rugby.
Wishing everyone a pleasant day.
Good morning all and it’s still windy here on the Suffolk Coast.
Yesterday was dreadful - we have fences and garden gates down. Although we had secured bins etc, they escaped. At one stage the summer house doors were trying to burst open but we managed to secure them. Shed roofs covering flapping loose. ?.
Mid afternoon our power went. No heating or electricity. Thank goodness we have a wood burner and candles. ?
Electrician came at 6 o’clock, (bless him). Outside wire is hanging by a thread. Phoned the emergency line but no one has been so far. DH has just phoned and they say 4 o’clock this afternoon. Dh went mad ? and they’ve put us on priority. . (Dangerous) . Fingers crossed. . Lots of people in the same boat. More strong winds forecast ??.
I hope no one else has had too much damage. Eunice was a bi.ch! (hate that word,)
Hope you all have a calmer day.?
Good morning everyone from a wintry white Inverness where we’ve had a bit more overnight snow. We didn’t have the storm yesterday just lots of snow instead. Hoping nobody suffered to much major storm damage and hope the power is back on soon for your DS Jax
I think we’re going for a walk somewhere today, not too far away though and then might pop into see the DGC later
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning all from wet Harrogate. Yesterday’s wind blew over our wheelie bin and that was all, thankfully.
Today (hopefully a quiet day) I shall have to re-apply for my driving licence. I suspect I shall have to sit another test, yeugh!! I’ve suddenly realised I’ve filled up next week with appointments, shall have to contact DDs in case childminding is needed and I can change some appointments to the following week!!
GrannySomerset and. Henethe
Have the best day possible folks
Much calmer today here in Cheshire. We were lucky and suffered no real damage. I had to rescue my little potted Christmas tree three times as it kept blowing over on the patio. That was it , really.
I hope today is calmer for everyone
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° with a clear blue sky. The ice is thick on the cars outside. I hope there was little damage to people's homes yesterday.
Housework this morning, then round to dds this afternoon. Dgs1 will be 3 on Tuesday so they are having a celebration for him today. He will be so excited. Yesterday I looked after him to let dd and sil organise things. I put the tepee in the living room and we had a picnic in it. I'm looking forward to seeing him and his wee brother later. Have a good day all.
Good morning from a chilly S Hants, next door is de-icing his car, very different from yesterday, but we have wind and rain due again over this weekend. My son has lost power to his flat and it’s still out, daughter a fence panel down.
We’ll find some football to watch this afternoon, no rugby for us until the 6 nations next week.
Thoughts with henetha shattering news ?
Enjoy your outing pant sounds fun!
Have a pleasant day all ??.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a dry and much quieter Hull. It is going to rain later.
We have a fence panel down between us and the neighbours which needs to go back up and a few shrub containers over but apart from that we came off lightly yesterday thank goodness.
DH needs to do his LFT today and take it into the hospital ready for his endoscopy on Tuesday but other than that a quiet day.
Take Care everyone and have a lovely Saturday.
Here’s Matt.
Good morning everyone from a very quiet and still south Manchester. Sunrise brings a baby pink sky here which looks beautiful and I can see the Pennines quite clearly.
I’m nipping downstairs in the lift to Boots later. I want to buy a heated roller brush by BaByliss and the helpful assistant told me yesterday that although that branch didn’t stock it, if I looked up the Boots website to make a note of the seven-digit number or the product and let her know, she’d order it for me and would be in store the next day. I’m very impressed!
Babysitting tonight for our daughter and son in law. They want to go out for cocktails and a meal before we go off to Malaga next weekend.
Enjoy Saturday all who can.
Good morning Mick, morning all from freezing South Lanarkshire, our street looks like a sheet of ice.
DH will be shouting at the tv this afternoon, watching the rugby gets his blood pressure up, luckily I’ll be at work.
I haven’t caught up with yesterday’s news yet, I’ll try to read the thread later. Meantime I wish everyone the best day possible. ??
Good Morning all from Severnside where the clouds are gently passing this morning.
I have a fence panel out at the back of the house and one leaning at the front. An empty pot left it’s place.
I’ll try to pick up my prescription this morning. I couldn’t be bothered the other day after a few errands. Sometimes I feel I’ve had enough and want to get home but I’m now out of pills.
I’m making a meal today with stuffed chicken breast that is new to me.
I hope you all have a good day and stay safe ??
Good morning all from a calmer North Leicestershire.
We have DD3's 3 today - including Wondrous Wolfie - as she and her dh set up a wedding fair.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning all from a very wet and chilly Glasgow.
I was so pleased to hear *GrannySomerset's update about yesterday. I hope you managed to sleep last night.
Such sad news for you Henethe.?
Fingers crossed that all survived the bad weather, without any major disasters or mishaps.
Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.
Good morning from a mercifully calm, dry but chilly Torbay.
Our little corner of Devon was well buffetted by the storm with several trees brought down, including two on the boundary of our theatre grounds. Luckily, set building was in progress so our lovely set builder was on hand with tools to deal with it. We’ve agreed he should be paid a bonus for that, especially as the hotelier whose land borders ours was incandescent with rage and threatening to report us to the Press! A fallen tree during a violent storm? I’m sure they’d be most interested! ? Apparently, the Council workers arrived eventually but ill equipped for the task.
The weather was calm enough to undertake the drive to the theatre at Paignton last night to see Dead Guilty which wasn’t brilliant - rather slow and meandering, due to insecure grasp of lines, I thought.
I hope everyone is safe and well after the storm. Happy weekend, especially those like Pantglas2 with plans.
?????
Good morning from a much calmer day in Essex by the sea.
The wind was ferocious here yesterday but luckily we had no damage. The sea looked fearce at high tide early afternoon.
We have no plans today but hopefully will have a trip out somewhere later.
Enjoy Saturday everyone and stay safe xxx
