As a fairly newish poster I may be breaking Gransnet rules by asking this question but here goes. Alegrias1 is a frequent and lively poster on here, usually on the more in-depth topics but I haven't seen any responses from her in a while. I have been wondering if she is ok. I hope she is.

Baggs that definitely doesn’t happen anymore (the leaving message, that is)

GillT57 Tue 22-Feb-22 14:01:27

Well I for one miss Allegrias and her input. She was well read and researched her topics, and quite rightly, got very annoyed with people who repeated ill informed nonsense despite it being disproved over and over again, I loved her banging your head on the wall emoji! You are wrong GSM, Tory voters don't get hounded any more than anyone else, any member who was here after the referendum and had voted to remain can testify to how it was, how vitriolic and sneery some of the posters were ( no names, no pack drill), lots of loony left type posts thrown about.

*Algerias*, scontacted me and said she had left.

Ah, thanks, MD. Did she say why?

Thanks. Good to know.

I think sensible Tory voters are careful what they say on the N&P fora Gill or they would be hounded. It’s very easy to see which way the political wind is blowing and keep a low profile. Ditto if you are perceived as being reasonably well off with some posters. I tend to stay away. I wasn’t on here at the time of the referendum but can imagine what it was like.

FannyCornforth Tue 22-Feb-22 14:17:16

Thanks Baggs, yes, I’ve had to email HQ in the past to get clarification

supernanauna1 Tue 22-Feb-22 14:21:17

Others who disappeared are sheepandcattle and taichinan.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 22-Feb-22 14:22:20

I think I need subtitles for that.

FannyCornforth Tue 22-Feb-22 14:25:21

They were regulars on the Good Morning thread.
Sheep was a farmer and her posts were brilliant

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 22-Feb-22 14:27:28

Thanks for translating Fanny. ?

sensible Tory voters are not hounded GSM, nobody with valid political views should be, and I understand the difference between those who vote Tory, as many of my friends do, my parents did etc., and the disgraceful bunch of liars led by Johnson. What is distasteful is when people gang up and start piling on a poster, I have been that pilee(?), where posters who haven't contributed for months suddenly come out and start agreeing with each other, and I have to say, from my experience, it is the more right wing posters who are prone to doing this. Not all of course.

Why is everyone getting upset because someone has chosen to leave? Her choice, her action. maybe it did all seem like playground discussions to her but that does not matter, everyone should just carry on as normal.
I have been quoted as being on the sarcastic end of her tongue quite a few times which is true. I hope I gave as good as I got.
If her toys gone out of the pram let it lie.

Galaxy Tue 22-Feb-22 14:40:54

We can express views about someone leaving yammy. I am carrying on as normal grinwhilst expressing the fact that I liked her.

Baggs Tue 22-Feb-22 14:43:12

Being subjected to an abusive pile on is not on but is "people [who haven't posted for a while] agreeing with each other" the same as that? I think not.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 22-Feb-22 14:44:43

This is why I generally stay away from political threads. I’m happy to say I didn’t want Johnson for PM and that his behaviour has apparently (pending the outcome of the Met’s investigation) been unacceptable. However it’s statements such as ‘the disgraceful bunch of liars [that he leads]’, which tars all Conservative MPs with the same brush, that ensure I don’t engage.

TopsyIrene06 Tue 22-Feb-22 14:48:23

GillT57. Wholly agree. She is missed.

Ailidh Tue 22-Feb-22 14:48:40

Oh, I was hoping Alegrias was just on a break - I'm sure I'd noticed before when her posts were absent for a while - and that she'd by back.

I didn't always agree but I admired her passion, which was in my recollection, well-researched passion.

eazybee

I am sorry that Lemongrove has left and Germanshepherds mum, I agree with you.

Hello?
I was alerted to the fact that posters were wondering where I was by a friend, so as I haven’t cancelled my GN account thought I would pop along and say that I left a few weeks ago.
There was no flouncing involved?nor any bullying tactics directed my way, I think I just felt that perhaps it was time, having been on here for years and years ( and years) and every day had become Groundhog Day.
I may return in the future ( or not) depending on how I feel and how the forum evolves, but since the lockdowns ended am enjoying going out more and doing things rather than being at home.It was impossible to let everyone know, but I did pm quite a few friends at the time.
I wish you all the best,
Lemongrove?

GillT57 Tue 22-Feb-22 14:53:08

Sorry GSM, I didn't make myself clear! I can see the difference between the many decent Conservative MPs, many of whom were hounded from the party, and the current disgraceful bunch of liars. I also understand why there are hundreds and thousands of disenchanted Tory voters who are repelled by Johnson, what I find difficult is the my party right or wrong voters who support everything done or said by the current administration, when common sense and decency and morals would indicate that some of their actions are repellent to most people.

FannyCornforth Tue 22-Feb-22 14:55:16

Thank you lemon
Wishing you all the very best! smile
Pop back and see us soon please

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 22-Feb-22 14:55:50

Well I haven’t actually seen any posts to that effect from Tory supporters Gill. As I said, I think most keep out of it.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 22-Feb-22 14:57:06

Thanks Lemon. You are missed.

Summerlove Tue 22-Feb-22 14:58:23

Be well Lemongrove ☺️

Marydoll Tue 22-Feb-22 14:59:00

Lemon good to see you. Fond memories of the original Argy!

FannyCornforth Tue 22-Feb-22 15:32:43

You were indeed brilliant behind the Argy bar lemon ?
When I first joined I ‘back dated’ the threads as far as I could and read them like a book! Really, really funny ?
