Hairdressers…. are you loyal or do you chop and change?

I had a brilliant hairdresser for eight years he specialised in colouring. During the first lockdown he left.
Now I have someone else and have gone grey, he's a pleasant but I sometimes come out with the old "Purdie" cut that makes me look like a budgie. When I tell him he remembers and gives me a very good cut. Though I have to remind him every time. Maybe I don't go often enough every 6/8 weeks usually.
My dad used to say the same about the six weeks as well.

The best hairdresser I ever had was a young lady from Romania, she spent time with me chatted about best styles, and did an amazing job over two hours. If only I could live on a cruise ship. Nowadays I’m lucky if mine spends 30 mins on mine, for an extortionate price. Will be finding another one very soon.

When we moved here over 30 years ago we first went to the hairdresser's at the end of the street. Very convenient with small children at home. She cut the children's hair too. She has moved to new premises further into the village but we still go there. There's not much anyone can do wrong with my easy care hair.

I have taken DGS there a few times now - DiL is very grateful. She has tried cutting it herself at home but said she was finding the fine hairs all over the house for days afterwards.

I have gone to the same one for years. He knows how to cut, colour and style curly hair. Non many do.

I’ve been going to same hairdresser for years. She opened her own salon just before the first lockdown. I only have a cut and blow dry every 6wks.

Well I've just washed my hair and it's back to my usual unruly locks, so not a Brazilian blow dry just extra conditioning I think, nevermind it looked lovely while it lasted and he did a nice cut.

I had to change stylist when mine went on maternity leave. She did come back but only part time. Then the salon changed hands and the new owner cuts my hair so well. She is quick too. After they reopened after the first long lockdown, she was so patient with me when I struggled to decide what todo, both about the length and the colour.
I was not too pleased last time when she and others did not wear masks, but now that they are not compulsory, I can’t complain. I shall stick with her as she does a good job, doesn’t chatter too much and works quickly.

I been going to the same hairdresser for about 12 years. No plans to change.
I’ve also known him since he was a baby and several times rocked him to sleep.

I've used the same one since we moved here 4 years ago. All I need is a wet cut . She does a good job , is very pleasant and only charges £30.
She managed to keep going over the last few years and is always chatty and positive.
She's also the image of my oldest daughter which is another plus!

When we moved to our present house eight years ago I used to travel to our previous town 12 miles away to have my hair done as I liked the girl I went to and the way she did my hair. Then she had a baby and went on maternity leave so I tried the salon a short walk away from our house and have been going there ever since - it is a small salon with two hairdressers and a beautician, they are all lovely girls and the prices are reasonable. During lockdown when they were closed I let my hair go grey and decided to keep it this colour as I like it but I go every four weeks for a trim and blow dry and I have my eyebrows tinted every eight weeks, appointments on Friday are cheaper for pensioners.

Had to change when we moved almost 9 years ago and was very nervous about it having had some disasters. Luckily I stumbled across a very good hairdresser who listens. She also tolerates my occasional DiY trims without complaint. I was happy to move salons with her, was there yesterday and came out with the best cut yet. Why? Because I managed to articulate exactly what it was I wanted to change. She listened, interpreted and voila, a happy client. We always have interesting chats, she remembers family issues and shares bits of her life. It’s like being with a friend, I can’t see me changing willingly.

The pandemic has changed things for me. I used to go every six weeks for a trim, to a very good hairdresser who worked from her home. Now I trim/hack my fringe and I just get my sister to trim along the bottom of my hair every six months or so. My hair is now way below my shoulders and I can put it into a quite respectable bun or French twist. The hairdresser's circumstances changed and I think she was reducing the amount she did so she won't mind me not going.

Had mine for over 40 years and even though she retired some years ago she still comes to my home to do it each week, unless of course through the virus restrictions or her being on holiday.

For cuts. I have one local I’ve used for years and another salon that I like if I’m in town and can get an appointment.
For colour, since lockdown, DH has developed the necessary skills.

Been with the lovely Samantha for about 15 years. She was booked all this week but I wouldn't have anyone else. Got to wait until Wednesday ?

Why don’t you book your next appointment before you leave the salon nina?

I had to cancel a couple of appointments at short notice due to sudden events at work, and then felt too embarrassed to go back to that hairdresser, so walk-in places for me.

I look for someone who will cut my hair well and to my satisfaction and then I stay with them, until they leave and disappear, when I then start visiting lots of hairdressers until I find another satisfactory one.

Chop and change (good pun there) that's why we go to our hairdressers after all. It took me a while after moving to find the right hairdresser for me, but I found her a while back. I've upped my highlighting to six week intervals, since I stopped having my roots done then I had them done every three to four months. She knows my hair now and does a good job in blending both brown and caramel streaks into the greys, I probably have a cut every second visit.
