There will need to be a lot more, women for various reasons often need to spend more time in the toilet. My bet is there will be less toilets than when they were seperate.

The newest buildings and conversions I have visited have gender neutral toilets. One waiting area, cubicles with handbasins for anyone to use. Ideal!
Although I do wonder with men having to queue for them with women will there be lots more complaints about there not being enough of them?

Most supermarkets have unlocked separate disabled toilet cubicles.

If all toilets had cubicles (as many French places do) there would be no problem. And as for the father and little daughter, they could use the disabled toilet if really necessary

You often can’t access the disabled toilet unless you have a special key. Most disabled people carry one. Otherwise you need to get one from someone in charge at the establishment. Disable toilets are so much more spacious that unless they were locked everyone would be using them.

A friend when out with his small daughter would use the "disabled" toilet which is usually a separate cubicle. I agree with others who say a similar set up for those uncomfortable using either male or female toilets could be the answer.

Yes contained cubicleswith sinks is the answer. Costs money I imagine. That's not what happened at the London theatre though if it's the one I am thinking of.

Chestnut Septimia I’m hoping this is the way forward, one of our favourite restaurants has this, there are wash basins in the cubicle so no shared area.
It does seem that it has been “over thought”

I just know this is going to morph into a thread about trans people with all the usual associated aggro.

One single cubicle on its own would address all these problems. Transgender people and fathers with daughters could enter without having to go into a shared area at all. Then everyone else (the majority) could carry on using single-sex toilets without all this nonsense. Did no-one ever think of that?

Yes - DS had a lot of difficulty when out for the day with our granddaughter because of the lack of suitable facilities, and at the swimming pool.

Hexham Abbey has gender neutral toilets. There's a a corridor with a row of cubicles that can be used by anyone and which contain a handbasin as well, so self-contained. A simple answer to all those problems which, I hope, offends no-one.

There has been an article recently about a London theatre that now has 1 lavatory for all.
This means women filing past men at urinals, it has not gone down well!

It occurred to me yesterday when stopped at a motorway services that provision has never been made for men with little girls.
I saw a man with his daughter of 3/4 ish having to take her into the gents.
We have made so much provision for transgender people yet this has been an issue that I’m sure has caused difficulties for a greater number of the population.

How can public buildings ever make provision to suit everybody?

I recently read about people identifying as feline…..imagine human size cat litter trays?
