Exactly that really. They were allowed to take part with a positive drug test, but this is much more serious.

NannyMags Thu 03-Mar-22 13:08:47

I completely agree with you.

NannyMags Thu 03-Mar-22 13:07:50

Quite simply, No!

LauraNorderr Thu 03-Mar-22 12:48:08

I’d like to see all Russians banned from the rest of the world whether it be sport, business or pleasure until Putin is removed one way or another.
Sad for the Russian people but a message to them and the rest of the world that aggression will not be tolerated.

WoodLane7 Thu 03-Mar-22 12:44:50

Absolutely no! Much as my heart goes out to the athletes who have trained and trained to end up missing out it would send out all the wrong messages if they were allowed to take part

Gwenisgreat1

Definitely not! Unless it's shooting and the target is Putin!!!

Gwen you are naughty but I like you.

Happysexagenarian Thu 03-Mar-22 12:43:47

No, definitely not.

NoddingGanGan Thu 03-Mar-22 12:42:50

Ni, no and a thousand times no!

Delene100 Thu 03-Mar-22 12:34:17

No. Ban them from everything. Hopefully, Putin's people will turn against him.

I see that they have now done a U turn and banned the athletes from Russia. There was more than a hint that there were security issues and that they "could not gaurantee their safety" because of strong sentiments in the olympic village. This may be unfair on the individual athletes who are blameless for the lunitic policies of their government. However there will be a strong stigma attached to being Russian for some time I suspect.

Paralympic Committee have changed their minds and Russia and Belarus are no longer allowed to take part. A very good decision.

Bignanny2 Thu 03-Mar-22 11:54:59

I believe they were originally told that they could compete under neutral flags but now they’ve been told that they can’t compete at all. Which is only right. The FA have stopped Russia and Belarus competing in international football games. But I am a big F1 fan and am angry that Nikita Mazepin is still being allowed to race (except at the British GP). And that the Haas team which is funded by Mazepin’s father who is a close friend of Putin are still being aloud to race this season !

Starmer says a no-fly zone is not an option, but somehow he's the bad one for warmongering.

At times like these its incumbent on us all to get the facts right.

I hope formula one stop the Russian drivers and the Russian sponsors teams from competing and stop dithering about

The Russian Grand Prie has also been cancelled.

As far as I’m concerned Russia should be ostracised by the whole world. Both sporting and socially, monetary and anything else we can do to cause havoc for them. How dare they cause a war in another country without cause. Only their own paranoia, a Nazi leader and his henchmen causing destruction and death, for what, a power trip by a mad man. Am ashamed of our Government for lack of leadership, lack of empathy, and downright idiocy not bringing in sanctions straight away. Disgusted. Keir Starmer not much better, seemingly quite happy to have a war with Russia, which bringing in a no fly zone would do.

Mallin Thu 03-Mar-22 11:45:31

Gwenisgreat1. Wins my prize for the best answer so far!!!!! Well done girl.

Purplepixie Thu 03-Mar-22 11:44:42

NO!

Mallin Thu 03-Mar-22 11:42:43

No. Think of the other athletes. It would cause trouble. Some probably have relatives in the country Russia has invaded. It’s obvious that the general Russian population and soldiers have no idea what their country is really doing. Any and every possible action to show normal Russians that the World disapprove of their countries government actions is the right thing to do
Every disabled sportsman and woman will regret that their Russian counterparts are unable to compete in the Games.

Mummer Thu 03-Mar-22 11:41:39

NO! ....next question?

katy1950 Thu 03-Mar-22 11:37:51

WendyBT Thu 03-Mar-22 11:35:58

I tend to agree - but I do wonder if by isolating all Russians, they will never understand the truth of what is going on because of State brainwashing. If the athletes had been allowed to attend, maybe they might have had an eye-opener or two.

katy1950 Thu 03-Mar-22 11:33:53

No no no they should be banned from every sport until the message get to the whole of the Russian people how bad Putin is

Beswitched Thu 03-Mar-22 11:33:40

Absolutely not. The world has to stand in solidarity with Ukraine.

LilyoftheValley Thu 03-Mar-22 11:30:08

No.

polnan Thu 03-Mar-22 11:29:31

NO! and anything to do with Russia, or Belarius. or even China

should be banned/ostracised... and our Parliament, cos the Opposition parties are also there..... are not sanctioning enough, and are much too complacent,
but then.....

Milest0ne Thu 03-Mar-22 11:26:29

It might help if the Russian people were made aware of the ban, but I doubt they would be allowed to know of it.
