Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry here in brackley this morning, its surprising how quickly the week has gone .
Yesterday I notice in the bus the Blackthorn is still in blossom , usually a sign of bad winter weather still about.
Today, hopefully my day will me get the bus to Buckingham ,and then to Bicester, mainly for a change of scenery , on arrival at Bicester go and have a breakfast bap in cafe , do other shops as well , before coming home to watch cycle racing on TV this afternoon, followed by a Chinese Take Away , I also like to follow the local football team scores ,as they are second in the National League North to see if they better there nearest opponents.
Take Care,
Mick

Wow - that hat, Marydoll, I love it!

Mine went all the way to Sydney, too, Ladyleftfieldlover but the box got opened at Heathrow, the hat was swabbed for drugs and the box wrecked. Somehow I got the hat there in one piece!

Thank you for the lovely photos, Marydoll, it looks like a joyous event despite the problems beforehand.

A wedding is not a wedding without some problems to look back on!
Congratulations to your son and new DIL - have the skull and the hand gone on honeymoon with the happy couple?

MawtheMerrier Sat 05-Mar-22 20:46:19

Wow Marydoll - what lovely pictures.
That hat deserved an invitation and seat all of its own! ?? ?

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 05-Mar-22 20:34:24

Beautiful photos Marydoll. I love the hat. The last wedding I went to was in Sydney in December 2019. The weather was hot but windy and the ceremony was outside! My fascinator just wouldn’t stay on.

Aw Marydoll what lovely photos - your outfit is beautiful and the hat is just stunning! So pleased (despite some setbacks!) that you all had a wonderful day.

Too busy today to look at GN but now I had to come and read about the weddin'! Marydoll

It looks fab. You all must have had a ball. Dollie is a wee pet sorry about her poorly mum and her nosebleed
I love your outfits and the handsome men in their kilts.

Congratulations all round.

Marydoll

I'm back. We have had a bit of a crisis, this morning. The back door won't lock and we are awaiting a locksmith. There was to be family get together this afternoon, but we now can't go! ?

Yesterday was fabulous, but we did have a few disasters.

•The taxi, which was booked, only arrived after three frantic phone calls. My neighbours were ready to step in and run us there, before going back to get themselves ready.

•As I took off my mask , getting out of the taxi, my earring flew off and shot through the railings of the university, across from the church. As I turned to alert DH, he was half across the road and oblivious to my plight! Sharp eyed SIL, spotted it, a fair bit away from where I was standing in tears, while DH, strolled merrily on his way! ?

•During the evening, my DIL, (not the bride) became very unwell, with food poisoning. ( from sushi, she had a lunchtime). What a disaster. We couldn’t get hold of a taxi and a guest, kindly took her home, despite the guest having a long drive back to Oban ahead of her. I was so worried. Poor wee Dollie was understandibly upset about her mummy and having to miss the wedding.

DS1 was trying to look after his wife, when Dollie had a massive nose bleed all over her bed! It never rains, but it pours.

Apart from that, it was a great success. DH’s speech was full of props, as a nod to my son’s childhood fixation with practical jokes and all things scary. These include a green moving hand and a skull, which had pride of place on the top table. The children present, had a great time, playing with them all night, with the adults also looking for a shot!

So here, as promised are some photos. DS has given me permission to post a photo with wee Dollie in it, I wouldn’t have considered it, without asking him!

Group of four, my friend; Dollie and us: my cousins.

Ohhhhhh first and most importantly, you look a million dollars, you look fabulously ohh la la.

I must say your account of the day is interesting reading and funny

Glad your SIL aka EAGLE EYE, saw your earing glistening and gleaming, phewwwwwww and your poor DIL getting FOOD POISONING..... good grief !!! What a carry on, it CERTAINLY made the day an INTERESTING ONE !!

SOOOOOOOO GLAD you had a fantastic day ( considering)

Brilliant.

A lurker here but want to thank Marydoll for the wonderful photos. Brought back memories as my DD was married at the same venue 20yr ago and my hat was the subject of much discussion as it was in a similar vein and stood out. The thing was that it was a "freebie" in a way as the owner of the dress shop where I bought my whole outfit produced a hat of her own in perfect condition which was on a model, checked that she hadn't any need for it on the day of the wedding and that was it. I really loved it (definite "mother of the bride" hat) and until today very few people knew where it came from. I returned it with much thanks and a token of my appreciation. Thanks again Marydoll for bringing back my memories - DH has passed away but DD is still happily married - can't believe it was that long ago - and I wish the same for your DS and his wife.

I don't usually comment on posts but love reading them. It was so lovely to see the wedding photos and hear about the day. Thank you so much. When the world news is so horrid reading something so uplifting means so much.

What lovely pictures, Marydoll I love your outfit - the colours are beautiful - and didn't Dollie look adorable! It sounds like it was a very happy day in spite of a few hiccups. I hope your DiL is fully recovered now - Dollie too, after her nose bleed.

cornergran Sat 05-Mar-22 16:11:26

Back after some gardening and delighted to see all the photos marydoll. You looked wonderful, as did the bride. Dollie is a delight, that photo of the three of you is full of character. Many thanks for sharing such a special day with us. The things that didn’t go to plan? Well, that’s just life smile.

Urmstongran Sat 05-Mar-22 15:35:56

Yes - thank you for sharing the wedding photos Marydoll. Your outfit was beautiful Marydoll such lovely colours! I see what your cousins meant about your ‘Ascot’ hat but you carried it well and looked very stylish. How kind of you to pass it on afterwards but as you say you’d enjoyed the occasion wearing it! Dollie isn’t one bit what I’d imagined. Funny how we get an image in our minds! I had her with red curly hair, shorter. Such lovely joyful memories and the sun was shining too! My Congratulations to the happy couple.

What a fabulous outfit Marydoll. You do indeed look beautiful. OH looks very dapper and Dollie is a real sweetheart, a picture to treasure.

Hope the locksmith soon sorts out the door, and the invalids are recovering.

Here are my long lost cousin and the hand!
The skull has gone missing, everyone thought some one else had it.

I forgot that I lost my shoes. DH was supposed to take them and keep them safe, but of course, he heard, but didn't listen!
A waitress came to me later in the evening and handed them to me. She said she knew they had to be mine as they matched the infamous hat!
