Do you know what day of the week you were born on?

Inspired by an MN thread, where the poster had gone her whole life thinking she was a Sunday child, because that's what her mother had told her, only to discover she was in actual fact a Monday child.
I just googled my dob and day and I'm Wednesday's child. Full of woe.
That's me stuffed then grin

Sunday. My mum told me and she was right. Too close to Christmas, though but I was actually due on Christmas Day so I guess that would have been even worse. All that stuff about Bonny and blithe and good and gay is perfectly accurate of course ! ???

Monday's child is fair of face
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

Yes, I thought that I was graceful, but it turns out that I am woeful instead.
It’s a bit of a rubbish poem really.
Thursday’s child gets a bit of a short straw; and why isn’t anyone wise or clever?
I think that it could do with an overhaul!

Saturday.
Yes, I work hard because I enjoy being busy.
I'm a Pisces, so I'm in a good place now.

I heard that years ago, especially with home births, it was common for parents to fib about the dob for tax reasons?
Or was that a myth? confused

I’m a Thursday child with far to go…but I don’t think I’ve got the energy!

Marydoll Mon 07-Mar-22 07:50:55

I was a Saturday child and it is very accurate! ?

harrigran Mon 07-Mar-22 07:51:29

Yes, I was born on a Sunday as was my elder sister, younger sister was born on a Monday.
My mother used to quote the little verse to us so I always knew that as a child born on the sabbath I was ' bonny and blithe and good and gay ' grin

I’m a Saturday’s child too and always had to work hard for a living - or indeed anything!

Patsy70 Mon 07-Mar-22 07:56:49

I’m a Sunday’s child, born at 6am in my Mum & Dad’s bed nearly 75 years ago!

GrandmaSeaDragon Mon 07-Mar-22 07:57:16

I was born on Easter Day, so always known. Always thought I was an Easter chick or bunny! My 21st fell on Good Friday.

Georgesgran Mon 07-Mar-22 07:58:42

DD1 and I are both woeful Pisceans (apparently). DD2 is a Sunday child - very bonny too.

EkwaNimitee Mon 07-Mar-22 07:58:54

Sunday for me too. I could agree with bonny but probably not blithe or gay, and my mother would have firmly disagreed with good!

Casdon Mon 07-Mar-22 08:00:28

I’m a Friday’s child - not feeling very loving and giving this morning though as the dog was howling at 4am to go out so I had to get up.

ShazzaKanazza Mon 07-Mar-22 08:03:03

I’m a Mondays child. Born in the depths of the terrible winter 1963. Mum can remember the day perfectly.

NannyJan53 Mon 07-Mar-22 08:03:07

I too was born on a Sunday. I am bonny and good, but not gay!

Thursday for me. Far to go? Can't wait! Anywhere with a bit of warm sunshine would be fine.

Witzend Mon 07-Mar-22 08:12:57

Tuesday, but I’m afraid the ‘grace’ bit passed me by.

My Dbro was a ‘Sabbath Day’ and was certainly bonny and blithe - and a little devil when he was small!

Didn’t look it, though - next door’s French au pair said that when she first saw him ‘I thought it was ‘un ange’!
Oh how elder sister and I laughed!

Pittcity Mon 07-Mar-22 08:17:49

I'm a graceful Tuesday girl!

tanith Mon 07-Mar-22 08:18:55

Tuesday for me I wish I was full of ‘grace’ but sadly not. 2 of my children also born on Tuesday.

Jaxjacky Mon 07-Mar-22 08:21:43

I don’t know what time I was born and as it was in Pakistan, five hours ahead, it could be Tuesday or Wednesday, I’ll go for Tuesday!

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 07-Mar-22 08:25:13

I was born on a Thursday, but I haven’t been very far, unless you count Australia.
I sent off for my Mums birth certificate to find that her Birthday was actually on the 15th May and not the 13th as she had been brought up to believe, I guess being the youngest of 12 someone got the dates wrong……..

jeanie99 Mon 07-Mar-22 08:26:04

Yes Wednesday

Pittcity Mon 07-Mar-22 08:26:11

Just checked on the rest of the family and the poem seems spot on!
