The obvious one to me are adverts on tv. Far too many and quite intrusive these days. There used to be a limit on the time but that seems to have disappeared. I could also say ,especially with politicians, too much talk, too little action.

Adverts for funeral plans and taking out life insurance so we leave some money for 'loved ones'

Bad spelling and grammar. Unfortunately as an ex-teacher I could see it coming when it was decided that creativity would be stunted if we tried to teach ‘boring and unnecessary’ correctness.

Violence in soaps....all before nine o'clock. I stopped watching all of them 15 years ago. I see the trailers...unbelievable.

Waisted money by the government, and not enough help for the older people in our society (pensions and other financial help) and lack of respect

Dogs being bred purely for money.
People who don’t clear up their dog’s/dogs’ mess.
Dogs ending up in rescue.

Starting sentences with the word “So”. I can’t bear people constantly criticising others speech BUT every time a quiz contestant or interviewee starts with “So” my OH flips his lid!

People who manage to bring politics into the most innocuous of threads.

Quite agree with Jaylou about cyclists. I think cyclists should have to pass a test like car drivers- they should then have a licence to cycle - should wear identification- perhaps a belt worn diagonally with a licence number on it. I speak as a former cyclist and now car driver - often in London- and have witnessed and experienced some extremely dangerous manoeuvres by cyclists - eg whizzing along, heads down, straight through red lights, cutting corners over pavements etc etc - they absolutely need to be identified by a licence plate so that they can be brought to book. Their self righteousness is sickening.

Boris Johnson and his Cabinet cronies.

JdotJ Thu 10-Mar-22 12:47:19

Those who start a sentence saying "I'm not gonna lie"
I interrupted one once and said "why, do you usually then" ?

Lizzie44 Thu 10-Mar-22 12:42:21

Obsession with the Royal Family.

Sorry, I meant racism, in the above comment!
Tax not paid legally by putting money abroad, voted in by those who don't! And power and influence to keep it that way.

Too many cyclists.
Think they have the right
to ride on road or pavement. You don't. You don't have insurance and you don't pay road tax. You go through lights no matter colour they are, yet moan when someone is injured or god forbid dies.

nannypiano Thu 10-Mar-22 12:39:26

The word SO at the start of every sentence.

There's way too much 'Me, me, me' - and to hell with the rest of you. These days I'm surprised when I meet someone with manners and consideration. Adults, in general, behave like a bunch of spoiled kids.

Absolutely...while there is consideration in many, at large we appear to have sunk into a pit of self entitlement to one degree or another,

It's my house so I'LL make a noise, park my car, use a drill at 6.00 am......
MY children are just playing even though they are screaming, kicking a ball off the wall repeatedly etc
The list goes on and in every aspect of life.

Cherrytree59, thank you. You have lifted my day with your post.

No manners
Keeping up with 'The Jones'
Pictures sent to me from friends of all their dinners, drinks, etc; I'm not on fbook partly because of this so they just get me on my WhatsApp instead

Too many opinions of so called editors and correspondents on the news channels and not enough honest facts which leads to scaremongering

Interested Thu 10-Mar-22 12:29:10

Small-mindedness, offensiveness and anti-racism disguised as being anti-woke!
Brexiteers who have further impoverished the very poor by (legally) cheating on their taxes by putting their money abroad, going on about how great the army and the NHS is!
Ditto for Royalty and the Queen.

MerylStreep

The word all
As in:
Don’t we all
Haven’t we all
We all think. Etc etc.
I want to scream NO WE HAVN’T

yes the "we all" thing......sloppy use of English and to me always implies "I think this and am never wrong"

missdeke Thu 10-Mar-22 12:25:04

Too many junk food outlets
Too many TV presenters with appalling diction (not accents, they're fine)
Too much aggression

Growing0ldDisgracefully Thu 10-Mar-22 12:20:56

The word like as every other word in a sentence, like!
Anti-car user measures. Council/government greed/taxation.
Over-population.
Building on every green space.
