I wonder if the Queen is cancelling her Royal appointments because she is ill or is it because she is missing Prince Phillip being at her side supporting her. She very rarely went anywhere without him.

maddy I don’t think she should retire, she seems of sound mind , her father didn’t retire because he had cancer .

There is Covid , Putin, not a great time for an abdication and a
coronation. And strange as it is for some, she made vows to
God and countries. Atheists couldn’t understand what this means to a Christian.

volver Mon 14-Mar-22 11:20:09

I’ve thought the Queen should retire for some time, but she’s not interested in my opinion.

Aye, never a truer word.

She's not interested in any of our opinions...

maddyone Mon 14-Mar-22 11:17:49

I think our HofS should be a person who is actually capable of performing whatever duties are required.
That should be the case whether we continue with a hereditary HofS or if we move to a democraticly elected HofS.
I’ve thought the Queen should retire for some time, but she’s not interested in my opinion.
Just my opinion.

The second picture you posted is of a show cocker FannyCornforth, they do look different to working cockers. Shows all have a classic cocker body shape, with the domed head and long nose, but working cockers do tend to be more variable, even when they are purebred. I’ve got a show cocker myself, so I can spot the difference a mile off but I know you have to have them to know them.

maddyone Mon 14-Mar-22 11:13:36

No, I don’t think so volver.

volver Mon 14-Mar-22 11:11:05

I agree with this, but it seems the Queen doesn’t want to give up all her royal duties.

Just because she wants to do it, is that a reason for having a person in an important position?

That's just my observation.

maddyone Mon 14-Mar-22 11:07:36

We could leave her alone and get someone else to do all the duties…..

I agree with this, but it seems the Queen doesn’t want to give up all her royal duties. As Annie says the Queen has recently had Covid and I know how weakened I was after my bout of Covid.
Who knows what the reason is, but I think Charles will be fine taking over.
I’ve always thought that the Queen should retire but she doesn’t want to, and many of the public, including lots of Gransnetters, don’t think she should retire.
I’m just making an observation.

Anniebach Mon 14-Mar-22 10:54:13

maddy who would want to been seen getting in or out of a
wheelchair on worldwide television and certainly not in a skirt .

And the after Covid effects may cause her to be very weak,

volver Mon 14-Mar-22 10:39:02

Well she could use on of these minivans adapted to allow wheelchairs to come in and out.

Or she could arrive "secretly" at the back and be in her seat before everybody else arrives.

Or she could do what Queen Victoria did and arrive in a carriage and not get out, so that the service was outdoors.

Or

We could leave her alone to be old and get someone else to do all the duties she can no longer accomplish.

maddyone Mon 14-Mar-22 10:26:15

Anniebach

Do you get in and out of a car from a wheelchair?

This is the point I made in my post upthread. Even if a person uses a wheelchair or mobility scooter, if they can’t get in and out of a car, life becomes rather difficult. Admittedly the cars the Queen uses for state events, such as the Commonwealth service today, will be bigger than our VW Passat, but my mother really struggled to get in or out of ours. Strangely she found getting in/out of my little Hyundai i20 a bit easier if she used the front passenger seat, but not a lot easier. Mother was not gracious about it either, she nearly snapped my head off when I commented on her difficulties, claiming she could do it perfectly well.
Pure speculation, but maybe the Queen doesn’t want to be seen to struggle getting into/out of cars.

Lexisgranny Mon 14-Mar-22 09:55:06

Wolferton Drama (Lissy) is a 4 year old champion working cocker spaniel

Lexisgranny Mon 14-Mar-22 09:51:51

This is the dog in question I believe

Anniebach Mon 14-Mar-22 09:48:11

My question was to 24Avalon

Anniebach Mon 14-Mar-22 09:47:19

Do you get in and out of a car from a wheelchair?

volver Mon 14-Mar-22 09:46:31

I suggested that on another thread and was told I was ungrateful and asking too much of her. confused

25Avalon Mon 14-Mar-22 09:38:39

Sparklefizz

I read this morning that she didn't want to be seen in a wheelchair when presumably that is what she would need.

I read that too Sparklefizz. Personally I see nothing wrong in using a wheelchair. Too many, especially older people, won’t use one when it would improve their lives so much by enabling them. The Queen could do a lot for disabled people in this way.

I have a vision of the Queen in a golden mobility scooter festooned with diamonds whizzing around.

Anniebach Mon 14-Mar-22 09:30:29

There are two Corgi breeds, The Pembrokeshire Corgi and
The Cardigan Corgi , both Welsh Corgis, the difference is their
ears

rafichagran Mon 14-Mar-22 09:29:40

MawtheMerrier

I am always amazed at those who seem to have insider information.
We can all speculate but who in fact knows what the Queens thoughts are?

I agree, how does anyone know. I can only state what I see, and that is a hard working 95 year lady, who has lost her husband, and who perhaps has age related heath conditions.
I think she is amazing, and very hard working, she has remained dignified, and puts duty first.

BlueBelle Mon 14-Mar-22 09:25:06

Could be a cocker/corgi cross they have much too short legs for cockers in my opinion

Kalu Mon 14-Mar-22 09:23:29

Lissi looks more like a Welsh Corgi! Very much like the rescue Corgi we had when I was 6, his name was Taffy.

No idea what the Queen may be thinking, nobody tells me anything. ?‍♀️

FannyCornforth Mon 14-Mar-22 09:12:12

It’s not me just making stuff up! smile

FannyCornforth Mon 14-Mar-22 09:11:29

Iam they are all of the same dog, apparently
WW no, Lissi is most definitely a pet.
It was a news story last year that Her Maj had a new dog after saying that she wouldn’t have any more.
She was a gift.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 14-Mar-22 09:04:45

Any cockers she may have will be kennelled. They are working dogs.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 14-Mar-22 09:03:47

It’s a Dorgie

JaneJudge Mon 14-Mar-22 08:59:05

she doesn't look like a spaniel! I think it looks a bit like full size dachshund
