I have and I hate it, now almost 10am and still in pj's and dressing gown!!! Have had breakfast and just finishing my cuppa then into the shower I'll go. I have stripped my bed and washing is in the machine so I have done something. Think I slept in as have had a really busy week, out everyday, sometimes twice and I knew today was gonna be a day at home, so I relaxed and slept really well. What's your excuse if your up late???

jaylucy Sun 13-Mar-22 11:19:15

I was up during the night for about an hour, being an insomniac and then got woken again just after 6 by my cat wanting his breakfast!
Luckily my son went back downstairs and fed him about 30 minutes later!
Next thing I knew, it was 9.30!
Just planning what to cook for lunch and then hoping it stays dry long enough to get out in the garden, to trim a holly bush that has been affected by the recent winds

I haven’t slept in as my alarm clocks wake me to take 1st lot of meds, then 2nd lot of meds an hour later. Then Mr. B brings me my morning tea and I sit up in bed surrounded by pillows and catch up on emails and messages.

I spent many years getting up at ungodly hours, now I’m retired I do what I want. No guilt here grin

I do not need an excuse, I go to sleep and get up when I like.

Witzend Sun 13-Mar-22 12:00:43

No, but when I’ve had a wakeful night (fairly often now) I will sometimes finally go into a deep sleep at 4 or 5, and sleep until 9.30 or even later.

I never feel remotely guilty about it, though.
Usually I’m up far earlier but still (unashamedly!) reading the paper/doing the crossword etc. in my dressing gown until 10 ish.

I am retired now so don't set my alarm unless I have to be up and out early, bliss. Ive not had much of a lie in this morning as I had two of my GC staying last night, we were up, showered, dressed and out of the house for 10am to meet their parents for a nice breakfast at a local restaurant which was lovely & will save me having to cook any lunch. Only down side is I feel as if I have been subtly ticked off for letting them stay up too late! hmm

Kate1949

I don't need an excuse.
After 50 years of getting up at 6 am for work, I get up when I feel like it.

Well said Kate! Though I never sleep on in the morning, it’s great to know that if you do, there’s no problem. Enjoy! cafe

Up at 6.45am as the dog wakes me up to feed her. I then went back to bed with ipad surfing the Internet. Hubby was still asleep, and finally woke up at 10.30!. We had breakfast at 11.00am and I've just caught him fast asleep in the lounge - crikey that man can't half sleep. Hopefully off out soon for an afternoon stroll and maybe call in to a pub for a drink. Lazy day, just Sunday roast to make later, then feet up and watch the TV.

Buttonjugs Sun 13-Mar-22 12:39:47

I don’t think anyone should feel bad about sleeping late. I have always had a lie in at weekends, it’s what they’re for!

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 13-Mar-22 12:43:42

Woke up at 11.45

My excuse, Covid.

M0nica Sun 13-Mar-22 12:44:17

When you feel physically the worse for it, you really do regret it.

I am still struggling around feeling bog eyed and bleary with no energy to do anything. I am hoping that if I push myself to go and do gardening after lunch, my mind will clear.

Floradora9 Sun 13-Mar-22 14:40:17

I nevere sleep in I envy anyone who can .

Redhead56 Sun 13-Mar-22 15:22:49

I didn't go to bed til early hours. A family problem niggling at me did not help. I don't have a timetable since we retired and I helped with grandchildren.
I get up after mugs of tea I don't like sitting in bed once I am awake. I usually get up plan and prepare meals and potter in the garden. We are going out early evening with friends so no food prep today.

I think I’ve slept in if it’s after 7am I wish I could sleep in now and then but I just can’t.

sodapop Sun 13-Mar-22 17:03:06

My two dogs ensure I don't sleep in after 8am, time to go out please.

Esspee Sun 13-Mar-22 17:25:42

I’m a morning person and can’t remember a time when I was still asleep after 7:00. I don’t necessarily get up immediately often sending emails or working on my family tree before rising.

grandMattie Sun 13-Mar-22 17:40:13

Same here, Esspee, except that I’m up shortly after 0500 most days. Can’t remember the last time I was up after 0700.

merlotgran Sun 13-Mar-22 17:43:53

I woke up at 6.30 and would have gone back to bed with a mug of tea but with two grandchildren coming for lunch I thought I'd get a head start.

I love getting up early but I also love lying in if I have a good book on the go.

Oldbat1 Sun 13-Mar-22 18:57:31

Wow all you folk who can sleep well - you lucky things. I was up at my normal time of 6am. I survive on 6hrs a night.

Jane43 Sun 13-Mar-22 21:33:21

I usually get up at 8 but sleep later on a Sunday, have a cup of coffee in my pyjamas and dressing gown while watching the Sophie Raiworth show on BBC1, then I shower, get dressed and get on with the day, today I took the dog for a walk, had something to eat then we visited our son, daughter-in-law and the younger grandchildren. By the time we got home it was time to prepare the evening meal which DH always does. I have always loved Sundays and still do even though I have been retired for 17 years.

Missiseff Mon 14-Mar-22 12:24:53

I don't need an 'excuse'. I do it often, obviously because my body needs it. There's no shame in it.

JaneJudge Mon 14-Mar-22 12:27:03

I got up 6.30am ish but was awake earlier. Had to set off at 7.30am to drop youngest at school, got back, walked dog and have spent far too much time online. Have a meeting at 1pm....confused

JaneJudge Mon 14-Mar-22 12:27:33

I don't know about the rest of you but I find it so much easier to get up now the mornings are lighter and it is a beautiful day here

Delene100 Mon 14-Mar-22 12:36:27

So do I.

HannahLoisLuke Mon 14-Mar-22 13:14:12

I was awake until 3am and again at 6.30 so didn’t roll out of bed until 8.30. Not sleeping though. just half watching ITV Breakfast. Am shattered now so might have a little nap later ?

Alioop Mon 14-Mar-22 13:29:28

I wish! I've been bloomin wake from 5.30am, it drives me nuts and makes the day very long. The housework is done and I want to go a walk with the dog, but it's pouring and the wee madam won't get her feet wet.
