I have and I hate it, now almost 10am and still in pj's and dressing gown!!! Have had breakfast and just finishing my cuppa then into the shower I'll go. I have stripped my bed and washing is in the machine so I have done something. Think I slept in as have had a really busy week, out everyday, sometimes twice and I knew today was gonna be a day at home, so I relaxed and slept really well. What's your excuse if your up late???

2 days a week I have to put the alarm on as I do 2 mornings voluntary work. Rest of time DH and I take turns to make tea/coffee about 8ish and then spend about an hour fiddling with our phones/tablets. Usually up then by 9ish. Lots of "ish" times in retirement.

We get up when we feel like it. Today about 8.30am. Yesterday about 10am.

I didn’t sleep in this morning, I had a blood test at the hospital booked for 8.20 so up at 6am ? ?

I go to bed between 11.30 and 12 midnight.
I then read until feel tired.

But always wake between 6am and 7am.

Very rarely get back to sleep, so up around 7.45 to make a cuppa then take it back to bed.
I can’t stay in bed for too long as feel impatient and jittery.
I wish I could sleep in late, but my body clock won’t have it.

I’ve slept in every day for 8 days…. I have coronavirus for the second time! First time was Dec and it was two sneezes and three coughs and was gone in a few days. This time it’s horrendous….. heavy head cold …raging headache ( 4 days now)…. no taste/no smell…. legs like jelly ….. dizziness….and a burning sensation in chest!!! All this with a disabled husband ( incontinent and mild senility) to look after! Luckily he’ll stay in bed till I fall out at 9ish( I’m usually up at 6)…he can’t understand why I’m tired and irritable … and I won’t stop coughing !! Apparently it annoys him. I know he won’t catch it as he never dies catch anything. So yes I’m sleeping in! Not by choice !

No, and I wish I could have. After a read to relax after watching the news last night, we were just dozing off at midnight when the phone rang . Only relis use the landline I paniced.
DH answered disappeared into the study, downstairs, back up, blinds in the bathroom rolled up and he came in still saying nothing, I panicked again. Thinking the worst very accident prone DD? or WW111?
We had had a phone call that he finally realised was a scam asking for our credit card number supposedly from our bank saying there had been a scam.
I asked what was with the lights and the bathroom. He had left a light on downstairs and then gone into the bathroom to put cream on an itch. All without saying a word. I nearly told him where to stick his cream.
I fell asleep promising myself a lie in. Woken at 6a.m. to be told we had not put the recycling boxes out. Then the valkyries at the farm opposite started up{Quad bikes] and the cows wanted their breakfast.
At 6.30 I was brought porridge and the news had I remembered the gardiner was coming today early instead of later in the week and he had to go and get my car from the Garage after faults at it's MOT.
All three loads of washing finished by 10 a.m.and the kind gardiner gave him a lift to the garage . I'm not driving at the moment.
We both fell asleep after lunch and woke up like two Zombies. I will have a lie in tomorrow. What's the point of retirement if you can't relax and we certainly can't through the night. sad

I feel so lucky that I am able to sleep to at least 9am most mornings...So many people just can't seem to fall back over if they wake up around 6 am....After working and bringing up my family I love to cozy in my bed on Winter mornings...

Go to bed late round 12.30-1 so I usually wake about 8.30.

Lovely to not have to get up and lie in bed snuggled up in a warm duvet. Even better hearing the patter of raindrops on the windows!

Since I had surgery and radiation treatment for cancer of the tongue I have nerve pain on the right side of my face. It is often severe at night, even with a narcotic, and I often can not sleep until 4 or even 8 in the morning. I sleep until noon or past! Rather spoils the day, but at least I am otherwise healthy.

I can't lie in. I wake and get up. So I was up at 5, quick coffee then Tescos. Back before 7. Nice to get it out the way, and so empty. I think my body clock needs adjusting.

I've always been more of an owl than a lark. I go to bed late and read until I drop off. So I am a late riser. When I wake I take my tablets and am supposed to wait another hour before I eat. So I often go back to sleep or read a few more chapters. Of course, it's another matter if I have a morning appointment or an arrangement to meet a friend.

I never sleep in I get up when I need to whether that be at 645 or noon

Grandma2213 Tue 15-Mar-22 02:13:21

Since I was a little girl I have always hated mornings. I'm wide awake and energetic round midnight though. Then a lifetime of work having to get up early feeling sick and a headache which lasts till lunchtime. Finally now I am retired and have found my true body clock. Bed anytime between 2 and 4 am. Then up usually 11am to midday. I've never felt so well rested. Long may it last!

I barely sleep at any time. A few hours here and there. I have no idea why; I never used to be like this. It is 3:08 in the am as I type this. DH is snoring away blissfully ignorant of my strife.

Starrynight49 Tue 15-Mar-22 04:02:34

Once I retired from working, there was no such expression as "sleeping in". I spent my life working unsociable hours - now I go to bed when I like and get up when I like.

Nannina Tue 15-Mar-22 07:54:21

I too seem to have lost the ability to have a lie in even if I have a late night. I have to get up as soon a I wake, usually about 6.30am. What I have found since retiring is the ability to linger over my early morning cuppa or 3
