Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow.
Good to hear you both had a better day, yesterday GM.
Novella warning, look away now!!!
As predicted, I am absolutely shattered, but I am on such a high! A great day out, with such lovely grans, who are just as nice in real life, as they are on the forum.
There was so much chatting that we ran out of time, it was a splendid meeting. In fact, I think we only have a few photos, we totally forgot about taking some. I think Grammaretto has a couple.
Of course, I did encounter a few minor problems along the way!
Surprisingly my car was picked up by a lovely young man at 7.30am, which boded well for a good day. To ensure my day out was not interrupted, by trivialities about my car, I had made sure that any problems were directed to Mr MD. I should have known that wouldn't work.
My plans were to get a reasonably early train. Of course, things didn't go to plan. Hair washed, make up on, guid claethes on and I was raring to go.
However, being my usual organised self I decided to get my concession card out, to avoid being a footering, old biddy causing a queue at the station. It was nowhere to be found, despite always being in my purse. I spent so much time looking for it, I missed two trains.
DH eventually advised me to just pay the bl**dy full fare! This was mainly because the Cheltenham event is on this week and he was itching to settle down and organise his bets.
I got to the station, with minutes to spare, to find it was all locked up! I had to run all the way under the railway bridge and up a million steps ( well they seemed like a million steps), and saw on the board, that I had 40 seconds to make the train! This is not easy when you are wearing a face mask and your legs are very short!
Thankful to have made it on the train in one piece, I noticed that I had a message from the dealership, asking me to confirm work that needed done to my car, despite me leaving a post it in my car, asking them to contact DH, not me. However, I couldn't open the message!
Just as I was phoning DH for help and trying to talk surreptitiously with my mask partly off, the ticket collector arrived. The mask caught on my earring, the elastic burst and it must have been at that point my earring was lost! Why is it always a favourite one? ?
So there was I trying to hold the mask on with one hand and pay my fare with the other.
When did I turn into this footering, flustered old biddy? On arriving at I
Glasgow Central, I had to sit for ages, until I felt better.
However, when I phoned Mr MD, I was floored! For the first time in over forty years, he had phoned the dealership, made an executive decision and organised the essential work only on the car, saying that it was time for me to think of buying a new car and getting an automatic. Yes!!!
I was so busy chatting with my granspals, I never heard my phone ring, it was Kalu and the others, who alerted me. It was the dealership again. I couldn't hear the service chap at all. He actually asked what the racket was and burst out laughing when I told him, I was out with a crowd of grans! ?
Rather than ask him to phone DH in the middle of a race, I decided it would be less problematic to just settle the bill. It took three attempts, as the service chap could hear a word!! ?
We were having such a good time, that I missed the train, the next one and the next one!
Kalu, tried to lead me astray by asking me to goshopping, instead of going home. I wish I had done so.
Firstly, she got bargains and I didn't
Secondly, when I phoned DH for a lift, he said my car hadn't yet been returned and I would need to walk home from the station, ?
I discovered that there are a fair number of garden walls from my home to the station! Apologies to anyone, whose wall, I sat on. I had only just got home, when my car was returned!!???
I am off to Mass this morning, but DH is accompanying me, so no socialising allowed! I talk to much!!
However, candles will be lit and prayers offered for all who need them.
I am going to gloss over my totally senior moment, when I met Baubles, whom I know well,
I asked her who she was, as she was very familiar. Did I know her from somewhere ? This very elegant lady was not the image I had in my head. I have absolutely no idea, who this person in my head was. Lockdown has definitely addled my brain! ? Sorry, baubles.
Have the best day possible, everyone and thank you all the Glesca Grannies, for looking after me. ? A special thanks to TopsyIrene of the fabulous glasses, for the gift of mini eggs. What a kind gesture, especially since I hadn't beenvable to summon up the energy to make my usual tablet!
I will be back later, once I have caught up with all your news.
