Lyrics in songs you've got wrong all these years!

Really really hilarious.

I used to think the words for 'the first cut is the deepest' was "these curtains are cheapest!" Sad!

Not me but my late Mum - listening to the Abba Song Gomme, Gimme, Gimme (a man after midnight) she turned to me looking completely baffled asking, "why do they want a ladder til midnight". Never been able to listen to that song since without hearing ladder til midnight!

‘Sailor stop your roaming, sailor leave the sea’ to my childish mind was ‘Sailor, stop your roaming, sailor ‘neath the sea’. I thought it was sad he’d drowned! Also REM ‘call me when you try to wake her’ was ‘call me Cheryl Baker’ - couldn’t understand until I realised you can Google any lyrics you need to now. The magic has gone!

"She's a must to avoid" sung by Herman and the Hermits was misheard by me as "she's a muscular boy". It confused me for a long time

My beloved thought the little boy in the Cadbury finger of fudge advert was singing its full of peppery goodness,the real words are it's full Cadbury goodness.

When small my daughter loved the song 'Horny, horny, horny.'
However, she danced around using her hands to make horns as she thought it was about goats.

In Peter Gabriel's song "Games without Frontiers" I always thought the background singers were singing "She's so popular". It turns out all my friends thought the same. However, now I know it's "Jeux sans frontiers".

A bit of a rude one, but for ages I thought in Shaggy's 'It wasn't me', he gave her an inch or three, evidently he didn't, he gave her an extra key!

Golden brown, texture like sun, lays me down with my manchiros. I think I just assumed manchiros were some sort of cool compadres. Then I saw it written down - with my mind she runs. So much for the Spanish A-level.

When my sister was little she sang "yellow soft and green".

When i was in Primary School we used to recite a prayer before lunch, For What we are about to receive, may the Lord make us truly thankful. I always thought it was ‘may the Lord make custard’. I hated custard and couldn’t understand why we had to be thankful

For me The Eurythmics sang about a ‘newt in motion’ instead of ‘new emotion’. When I was little I said a prayer which included ‘pity mice implicitly’ (didn’t know what implicitly meant but thought it was rather nice), years later realised it should have been ‘pity my simplicity’!

For ages I thought thought that ‘gangnam style’ wa ‘gangbang style’. Thought it meant something different in Korea. Imagine the embarrassment of my teenage grandaughter when she heard me singing along to it at my 5year old grandaughters birthday and quickly corrected me.
