I think that perhaps I'm out of touch or old fashioned ,but I find Naked Atractuon revolting and disgusting .

I've tried desensitising myself by watching it again, but I find it deeply offensive .

And then ,I found something which is even more distasteful Vagina Knitting .

It came out in 2013 and features an Australian artist ,who inserts a ball of wool into her vagina regardless of her time of the month and knits .

Am I alone in my reaction ?

I have no desire whatsoever to even view such rubbish. I’m not prudish by any means but I find programmes such as this indicative of the general dumbing down of much of the population.

Well expressed .

I think it's been likened to 'car crash tv' - you know you shouldn't really look but can't help it.

I can't help thinking that the basic premise of the whole thing is cock-eyed as surely the traditional finding out about each other slowly and the anticipation, courting or whatever you want to call it adds to the enjoyment and is ultimately 'sexier' for want of a better word.

Young people today are sadly encouraged to shorten or by-pass that stage which cheapens relationships - putting the cart before the horse. I sound like my Victorian grandma, don't I? And if I was young and daft I'd fall for it. Inevitably some of the men on this programme are simply looking for a quick roll in the hay, not a relationship.

All in all, a rather sad example of modern relationships, Blind Date it isn't.

Brilliant lovebeigecardigan!???

I’m sure you did Esmay ?

Yes - I am disgusted by it. I have watched NA a few times and I can’t really say why. I guess I just can’t believe what I’m seeing! Why anyone would want to parade themselves in this way is absolutely beyond me. Nothing is left to the imagination. I hate Anna Richardson’s rather base language too. As I say, I don’t know why I watched it - a kind of strange fascination I suppose. Nothing ever seems to come of the couple who get together. It’s pure titillation. I’ve never seen the vaginal knitting programme - sounds very odd!

I agree it's car crash TV just like Jeremy Kyle and look what became of that. But it took a suicide before people started questioning whether it was a programme that should be made.

I'm actually astonished that NA was ever aired. Isn't there a law against exposing yourself in public?

Chestnut Wed 23-Mar-22 09:23:46

Just found the definition of indecent exposure:
In the Sexual Offences Act 2003, indecent exposure is outlined as intentionally showing your genitals in a public place in order to cause alarm or distress. Indecent exposure is categorised as a crime of ‘specific intent’. This means that in cases where someone’s genitalia is exposed it must also be done with that intention. For example, the offence would not have been committed if someone were simply urinating in a public place and this had resulted in the “exposure” of genitalia unless that act itself was done to cause alarm or distress.

So walking around naked is okay so long as you never intended to cause alarm or distress. ?‍♀️

Ha, ha! That was unintended Germanshepherdsmum!

Also, I think at least one young girl has been sweet-talked into bed but abandoned like the proverbial old glove next morning and been upset by it. Men, eh? They really don't need any encouragement do they?

Chewbacca Wed 23-Mar-22 09:33:32

So, am I missing anything good on tv these days then? It's been 3 years since I chucked mine out because of the dross on it; is this programme representative of what's on now?

Blossoming Wed 23-Mar-22 09:44:08

I find it hilarious to people are apparently disgusted by it, but they have to keep going back to check.

Shandy57 Wed 23-Mar-22 09:44:59

I watched Naked Attraction with my daughter a few times, I find it astounding that we now have a programme with naked people.

Unfortunately it has put me off the art deco wallpaper I'd hoped to have in my new bungalow smile

Jaxjacky Wed 23-Mar-22 10:09:48

I’ve only caught segments on Gogglebox and agree Kim19 it is sad, people must be desperate, I wonder if/how much they’re paid?

DiscoDancer1975 Wed 23-Mar-22 11:15:37

No...you’re not alone. Watched this for about 10 seconds, thinking it would be something else. Went straight off.

Bignanny2 Wed 23-Mar-22 11:21:58

I’ve never heard of or seen virgina knitting (thankfully) but I caught naked attraction once and was horrified that people thought that this was entertainment! And believe me I’m not a prude.

Sparklefizz Wed 23-Mar-22 11:32:28

I caught NA once and found it utterly depressing. I turned it off after 20 minutes.

The Miss World Contest was denigrated by Women's Lib back in the 70s as a cattle market, and now young women are happy to show their genitals and be "chosen" by a young man who mulls over the size of their vulvas.

It's very sad.

Cossy Wed 23-Mar-22 11:34:16

I find it vaguely amusing and completely cringeworthy and a bit sad !

icanhandthemback Wed 23-Mar-22 11:34:27

NA was never really a programme I enjoyed but if it came on, I didn't squeal and clutch my pearls. However, it was part of Gogglebox last week and quite frankly, the things I saw on there showed just how far it had descended with the men being asked to swing their bits. shock Really? There was absolutely nothing attractive whatsoever, it was positively hideous.
I don't know about anybody else but when I look for something attractive in a man, I look at the eyes and smile. By the time I feel ready for anything intimate, I am attracted to the personality and the body doesn't matter at all.
Please don't anybody tell my Mum about vaginal knitting. shock That area has become something she can't leave alone since the onset of dementia and dealing with wool amongst everything else, horrifies me! grin

inishowen Wed 23-Mar-22 11:45:26

There is guy local to me who has filmed for Naked Attraction and his show is about to air. He's been publicising the show on the radio and seems very proud of himself. I always thought these people would be embarrassed about doing the show. Far from it, this guy can't wait for it to be shown.

Growing0ldDisgracefully Wed 23-Mar-22 11:46:57

I hadn't heard of either of these so must live a sheltered life. The vagina knitting could put a whole new slant on community knit and natter groups! And what if you're allergic to wool and it makes you itch....

Mine Wed 23-Mar-22 11:50:00

My son who is 37 said to me "have you seen this mum" and put this stupid programme on the TV....He says it's a great laugh watching people's reaction to naked bodies...How do you find someone attractive by there "BITS" was my reply and we both ended up LOL....

MerylStreep Wed 23-Mar-22 11:50:44

i turned it off after 20 minutes ?

springishere Wed 23-Mar-22 11:55:07

Thanks all for the morning laugh! How do you knit with wet wool?

katy1950 Wed 23-Mar-22 11:57:38

It's cheap lazy TV production

MissAdventure Wed 23-Mar-22 11:58:31

I suppose in a way it's good to see all shapes and sizes (and lengths!) of things.
It does reassure that anything goes.
It came in tv last time my big grandson was here, and we both said it's hard not to look when it's on - a bit like scenes of surgery on TV.
