Last year's heat was unbearable and so i am trying to do my homework on portable air conditioning units.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction.... pleeeease.

I dont want a huge thing as big as a fridge and neither do i want 1 that is as small as a travel hairdryer ( and as useless )

All suggestions much appreciated.

You do realise that if you buy one well in advance, you’ll be guaranteeing a rubbish summer?
(Sorry!).

Personally I’d have a good look on the likes of Amazon and Robert Dyas , etc. - look at the dimensions and read all the reviews.

A really good (non noisy) fan could be an alternative. They were provided at a BiL’s place in France, where it does sometimes get very hot in summer. Made a huge difference in our otherwise boiler-house of a room.

We bought an air cooler from ProBreeze, cheaper than air con, no venting required and does the job.

It needs to be reasonably big if you want it to be any good, and it will need an outlet eg. via a window. I bought mine in Feb last year and it transformed my summer. I have this one, paid £280:

Pumpkin82 that is precisely the correct wording ....*transform my summer*, you have hit the nail on the head.

Thank you

It is 1000 watts ie will use 1kw in 1 hour. I unit, every hour that it is on. Expensive to run. A fan is cheaper to buy and use, put a wet t towel on a rack in front of it, the air will cool
