So sad to read of Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia which sounds like a really nasty disease. He has been suffering initial signs for a couple of years but now the horrid stories are coming out. It appears that even having a career that enables you to have a great memory and use of language you are not protected in anyway from brain disease. He’s 66 and it really enforces that life can be stolen from you very quickly.

I hope you can get help to work through your feelings Gossamer.
Feeling resentful would be quite normal under the circumstances so don't feel guilty if you feel angry.

Best of luck * Gossamer* it will, well done making the call x

Thank you so much Callistermon21. Today I have made an appointment with a counsolor. Hope it helps. I am sure it will. I have not told anyone in my family about his affair. I need to talk about it!

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's stroke and the predicament you find yourself in.
No advice but send my sympathies.

Aphasia was not a term familiar to me although we cared for my DM after she had strokes. She didn't lose her speech altogether but struggled to articulate and lost some words, which she found very frustrating indeed.

Gossamerbeynon1945 Fri 01-Apr-22 15:21:14

Diolch yn fawr to everyone who sent me sympathies and good wishes.

A very underrated actor. I still haven’t watched Die Hard but I’ve watched several of his other films and loved them.

JaneJudge Fri 01-Apr-22 11:16:32

It is okay to be a misery guts occasionally smile I think everyone needs to be a bit kinder to themselves. The last two years have been really difficult for everyone and none of us are perfect and none of us are able to cope with it all without sometimes being unreasonable. We are all just human!

Callistemon21 Fri 01-Apr-22 11:14:32

It's cruel, isn't it, especially for someone whose career depended on the spoken word.

I've never seen a Diehard film nor Moonlighting but I really enjoyed The Sixth Sense and thought he was great in that film.

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 11:05:22

Oh thank you everyone. I was just being a misery guts.

Gossamer thanks Jane is right, it would be good to talk to someone

henetha Fri 01-Apr-22 09:45:23

So sad for Bruce, and all sufferers of this dreadful illness.
I liked him so much in Moonlighting.
Sending you greeting FC. We all have off days. flowers

seacliff Fri 01-Apr-22 09:01:56

I feel for you Gossamer.

JaneJudge Fri 01-Apr-22 08:58:43

Poor Bruce sad

gossamerbeynon, if I was you I would talk all this through with a counsellor. If he hadn't had a stroke what do you think would be happening now? flowers

Shropshirelass Fri 01-Apr-22 08:57:22

It is very sad news.

Galaxy Fri 01-Apr-22 08:55:02

Dont worry fanny, I made an uncalled for comment the other day and didnt apologise!

BlueSky Fri 01-Apr-22 08:54:54

No need to apologise Fanny you probably are a fair bit younger than Bruce, and these things happen even to much younger people. Sorry you are in constant pain and worried about you DH. flowers

Vintagejazz Fri 01-Apr-22 08:33:35

Sorry you're having such a hard time gossamerbeynon.

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 01-Apr-22 08:19:35

Oh gossamerbeynon...sending you a hug....

Iam64 Fri 01-Apr-22 08:16:28

No need to apologise FannyC. I suspect we are all capable of a brief, direct comment. Life can be really tough, as it is for many of us as well as for Bruce Willis. I’d never watched a DieHard till lockdown, never been a fan if Bruce. DieHard 1 converted me, fabulous disaster movie

FannyCornforth Fri 01-Apr-22 07:21:36

I apologise wholeheartedly for my posts yesterday.
It’s no excuse, but I am suffering with chronic pain; and my husband’s health.
It was out of character (and of out order) for me.
Sorry all! thanks

Gossamerbeynon1945 Thu 31-Mar-22 22:52:22

Thank you so much, for your kind remarks SueDonim.

SueDonim Thu 31-Mar-22 22:37:27

Gossamerbeynon I’m so sorry. flowers

Someone we knew developed aphasia. I’d not heard of it before then. Sadly, for him it was a precursor to dementia which progressed very rapidly to his death.

I hope Bruce Willis’s condition is due to a more benign cause.

Redhead56 Thu 31-Mar-22 22:26:19

A very good actor and a horrible illness so sad.

Gossamerbeynon1945 Thu 31-Mar-22 21:48:37

On the day he had the stroke, I found out he had been having an affair with a work colleague. I'll be honest, I don't know whether to stay or go. I hate living like this.
