After a booster jab this morning and a three hour session with a very patient financial adviser I am exhausted but pleased to know that I don’t need to worry about downsizing in the immediate future, though what effect Mr Putin’s nonsense will have in the next few months. Am trying not to think about what could/might happen!

soop Thu 05-May-22 14:43:03

We've done our duty. Been to the polling staion. We were the only two people there at the time. As we were leaving a police van drew up. We told the officers that it was chaotic inside...close to a riot...wink

dustyangel My right leg is two inches shorter than my left. I now use an arm crutch as my pelvis is tilted and I often lose my balance. Mine was diagnosed together with scoliosis of the spine. I was a wee child at the time. Nothing has ever been done to correct things. I wish you well. smile

I am helping Mr Soop with some medical documents but will return a little later.

I’m having a quiet day after doing loads yesterday. Although I did finish off the barmbrack. I’m looking forward to having a slice topped with ice cold butter as recommended in the recipe! I have a zoom meeting this evening - I have hinted that maybe it’s time we met in person again, but no joy. OH has gone out shooting so I might take the opportunity to watch last night’s Sewing Bee.

I have been to the garden centre and picked up lots of plants, the edible and otherwise. They are all planted now and I'll water them in shortly. I need a rest first. It's mild here but overcast. The old bed was removed by two lovely men who took away other stuff for me. I hadn't booked the other stuff in, but they were extremely obliging. I need a couple of fairly large pots to take the rest of the peas and a gooseberry bush but that'll be a job for tomorrow. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

Blossoming Thu 05-May-22 10:56:22

Good morning dear Kitcheners, I meant to drop in yesterday afternoon but Mr. B took me shopping, a rare treat! He went to Lidl and the bakery while I enjoyed a lie in smile. Then he took me to Morrisons and B&M, only a short distance away but one I an no longer walk, or carry shopping back, My step counter showed I’d done 1,000 steps per shop so I was well tired when we got home. My only plan for today is a stroll across the road to vote, our polling station is in the bridge control building.

Hello Carillion it’s been ages since I saw a post from you. Give my love to Brittany - we are coming to Normandy for a few days at the end of May.

Grannmarie Wed 04-May-22 21:48:28

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!
We've just returned from a lovely birthday curry at the Marina, they gave us complimentary shots after our meal and drinks, I have to confess that DH was a wee bit under the influence in charge of a mobility scooter!! Oh well it is his 70th birthday.

We've had a lovely day, lots of birthday greetings from friends and family, and video calls with our boys, partners and grandchildren, singing " Happy birthday" to Papa, heartwarming.

Gillgran, ? hello, nice to see you.

Carillion, hello ?, we had a lovely holiday on Skye last year, visiting Eilean Donan, and we have had many wee breaks in Pitlochry! You'll never be homesick when you have Google Maps!

Soop, you've found your second wind...work work busy busy...

Dusty, your podiatrist sounds like she knows her stuff hopefully she will be a good help to you.

Shazza, I'm sure your sister will be glad of your company. I'm missing my lovely sisters already and I'm only away for a week with DH, but we are very close.

YiaYia, I've not visited Paxos but DH and I had a brief visit to Corfu from a cruise. We were booked for a visit to the Durrell house but it was so rainy we didn't get out of the minibus! When I get home, I predict a diet so that I can fit in your suitcase!?
TOYA, NNGB.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 04-May-22 20:23:03

Rain today here, thank goodness. The garden has started to look like the Gobi desert...Yiayia4 - yum, that sounds delicious ?

Jaxjacky Wed 04-May-22 19:38:03

Not even a spit of rain here, hose will be out again tomorrow. You must have had a second hurricane soop never mind a wind, I’m now feeling ashamed my cupboards have not been cleaned out since they were fitted, 15 months ago.
Hoping your x rays provide some appropriate help dusty, your body is compensating all the time.
You have one of my favourite meals Yia for a real treat I’d have sole meunière, but in a restaurant, MrJ only likes fish in batter!
Speaking of food, dinner is later tonight, must get on.
Enjoy your evenings x

Yiayia4 Wed 04-May-22 18:13:34

Thank you Carillion, love a taste of France.
Granmarie and Soop we are going to Corfu and Paxos, they were our base when we had our boat so lots of happy memories, will fit you both in my suitcase.?

The couple that bought our wobble box sent a message to say they are very happy with it.That’s such good news I’m sure they will have lots of adventures and happy holidays as we did.Loved your holiday pics Muse

We’re having lemon sole, jersey royals, and asparagus tonight a favourite of mine, and maybe a chilled ‘rose’ would go down well.Covid tests o.k so far?
Enjoy your evening all.

brook2704 Wed 04-May-22 18:11:55

Hi ? Carillon lovely to see you and thank you for the yummy pain au chocolate - just what’s needed. I’d love to visit Brittany sometime, I’ve only ever driven through it and it looked really beautiful
It’s stayed dry but with a cold wind here in Inverness today, I’ve been to the gym for a splash around in the pool and I did a Tesco food shop. Then a little bit of pottering in the garden and that’s about it really ?
Hope your sister is ok Shazza and feels brighter soon, lovely that she will come and stay with you
Sounds like you’ve been busy soop hope you have a restful evening!
Hopefully if you get some treatment or at least a diagnosis dusty it might help your symptoms improve a bit - fingers crossed for you

Grandmabatty Wed 04-May-22 18:01:11

Well done Soop! I really need to clean my kitchen cupboards but I'm putting it off. However I did weed the garden, front and back and put salt and vinegar dowion the dandelions. DustyAngel it might affect your hips too. ?

dustyangel Wed 04-May-22 17:47:43

Hello Carillion, I was thinking that your name rings a bell and realised that I really shouldn’t write that! Thank you for the pain au chocolate. I need a snack as I’ve just come in from having my legs X-rayed this afternoon.

I saw a podiatrist last week who told me that I need orthotics but asked me why I hadn’t told her that I have one leg shorter than the other. Needless to say nobody had ever told me either but it could explain why I’ve been having so many problems with my balance the last few years and why my heel is still giving me problems.

soop Wed 04-May-22 17:38:24

Lovely to have you visit, Carillion. I miss your posts. smile

Shazza I am suitably impressed. I haven't been able to watch Rafa. I cannot access whatever station the tournament is on.

Grandmabatty I have shocked myself. First of all, I tidied the cutlery drawer, which led me to tidy all the kitchen cupboards. After which, I dusted one shelf of books...then another...and so on until all the bookcases had been emptied and rearranged. I've been busy all afternoon. Guess what? I feel revitalised. A good result. wink

A mixed day, weather-wise. We shall be going to the poling station tomorrow. Let joy be unconfined. hmm

My love to you all. I shall be back with you again tomorrow. In the meantime...smile moon

ShazzaKanazza Wed 04-May-22 13:19:30

Good afternoon lovely kitcheners. Just having a cuppa watching Talk Tv before I go and pick up DGS from school.

Soop I went for a 50 minute walk and it started to drizzle, oh well, anyway I carried on. My DH put my Fitbit on to see how many steps he gets at his walking football..he got 7,000.
I’ve pottered around with a bit of cleaning.
Put your feet up and watch the lovely Rafa Soop.

My sister has just messaged to see if she can stay a few days. She sounds a bit fed up.

? hello to you in Brittany Carillion. We haven’t met I’ve not been in Soop’s kitchen very long.
Speak soon everyone x

Grandmabatty Wed 04-May-22 12:42:18

Carillion I will have a pain au chocolate thanking you. Soop then today is a day for doing nothing much. I am pottering around the house. If it stays dry, I might do a spot of light weeding. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

Carillion1 Wed 04-May-22 12:16:05

Bonjour Dear soop,
Just checking in from Brittany on a rare visit. Sending much love and thinking of you very often,
When I’m really homesick I look at the webcam of Eilean Donan or Pitlochry high street.
There’s a plate of pain au chocolat for any dear kitcheners who fancy a sweet treat. Until next time, much love as always.

soop Wed 04-May-22 11:47:56

Good morning greetings, my lovelies.

The rain started as we were about to leave the house and perform our daily stroll. Today I am feeling awfully lack-lustre. Could be doing boring-ish jobs aboot the hoos but have no energy to gather cleaning stuff together and make a start. I'm guessing that we all have such days.

Truth be known, I would love to watch Rafa play his match this afternoon but doubt that our limited use of tv channels will allow me to do so.

Hey ho. I shall join Mr Soop right now for a late morning cup of coffee. I shall return a little later.

gillgran Tue 03-May-22 21:54:29

Sorry I'm a bit late wishing you a very Happy Birthday, Nannytopsy, I hope you've had a good day. wine cupcake flowers

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 03-May-22 21:31:10

Ladyleftfieldlover, it's good that you are taking steps to keep Mr L safe on the streets!

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 03-May-22 20:07:13

Golly - I cooked a Nigella Lawson recipe for dinner. Chicken in a cream sauce. Basically double cream with six cloves of garlic. I told OH to clean his teeth before he went out this evening. At least he won’t be attacked by vampires.

cornergran Tue 03-May-22 19:55:48

A late happy birthday nannytopsy. Hope the day has been full of celebration

That’s a fantastic bedroom grandmabattie, a real achievement.

A difficult decision yiayia, we all have to make them at times hard though it is. Your holiday sounds idyllic, enjoy every minute.

Such a busy kitchen, I’ve read but can’t respond to everyone, the memory doesn’t stretch that far smile but be sure I’m sending supportive thoughts to all with worries

Decent day here, paperwork caught up with, a pleasant sea front walk and a huge celebration an hour ago - the final antibiotic has been consumed grin. Wretched things have truly removed energy and caused an upset tum. Onwards and upwards now.

Enjoy your evening everyone. Rest well.

Charleygirl5 Tue 03-May-22 19:34:13

grandmabatty that is definitely a big boy's bedroom and no wonder he likes it.

Dull and cool here today- I am looking forward to the heatwave on Thursday. I am meeting friends locally for coffee but I can sunbathe in the afternoon.

soop I wonder what Sweetie pie dines on when she is not eating your food? She does know where she will receive a lovely meal or three if she shows her face.
TOYA

Blossoming Tue 03-May-22 19:33:52

The bedroom looks great Grandmabatty and good news about the oven.
I cried when I sold my car once it became obvious I’d never drive again after my brain injury Yia. It’s just a lump of expensive metal really but it holds dreams, memories and the promise of freedom. I’m sure you will have a lovely time in Greece instead.
Ooh Granmarie your evening sounds idyllic!

Blood test results are usually back in 2 days, I’m not sure if the bank holiday affects that so I’ll ring on Friday.

Time for another nap, TTFN.

Jaxjacky Tue 03-May-22 19:23:14

What a very satisfying few days Grandmabatty you should feel chuffed.
Big decisions come to us all Yia your Grecian holiday sounds like magic.
Fingers crossed Blossoming and Shazza hate waiting for those calls.
More of the same tomorrow Grannmarie? If I was that good it would be pouring here!
A reliable supply of essentials is a reassurance soop
Late dinner tonight, a frittata, my last drive took at least an hour longer than expected, how it goes sometimes.
Have a pleasant evening all x
